Spain vs. the US in the basketball finals. Let's teach those bull fighting, asian hating bas-tards a lesson
Another one????? No please!! Now we will push you to the limit this time!

Im happy you beat Argentina to have my best possible final. Guys, I cant stand Carmelo Anthony's lack of maturity and respect for the game and the players that he has showed during the Olympics (well, he has always been an idiot IMO anyway). I wish Nate played for Spain to punch him in his face to end his stupid arrogant attitude. He should learn something from Kidd and Kobe. So my only wishes are that you win by less than 30 and Carmelo plays bad.

Sadly I wont even be able to watch the game, Im going to the beach on Sunday morning for the first time in 10 years (thats what happens when you make plans earlier than you should).

Hey good luck, my man. May the best team win.
I just hope that people will like me

Congrats to May-Treanor and Walsh.

It's nice to see that the girl on the left shaves her "Wink wink." That's how you represent!

I caught the 4th quarter......that was a nail biter.

Mac Gasol is a tough bastard. Pau Gasol when he is with his countrymen isn't the ***** he is in the NBA.

Juan Carlos Navarro is another one that can show how good he is in international play.

Rudy Fernandez is one of my favorite players right now.....he's like a better JR Smith.

I will tell you guys this......if Jose Calderon was playing......USA might not have won Gold! Hats off to Spain.

Rubio? He's only 17? Wow! He's gonna be something special.

I watched the entire game. Ruby and Rubio is amazing. Spanish players continue to prove that they are the best Euros IMO. The Gasols were dominating which always begs the question why can't Pau translate his big play in the NBA big games. I am not sure about Calderon ensuring the win. I actually think that if Calderon would have played the USA would have won easier because they would not have relied too much on Rubio and Navarro who were the difference makers for Spain. Proud to be an American, proud of Team USA and God bless Coach K.

And Rudy is coming to play for the Blazers this year. I tell you that team will be sick and Rudy will make a hell of a 6th man

Its a damn shame Rudy Fernandez is gonna be a bench guy. He is too good to be anybody's sub. I just hope he gets the opportunity and he comes out and just shows what he has.

Carlos Delfino comes to mind. The guys is an amazing in international play. Then he suits up for the NBA and looks shy. He should be a starter somewhere. Same thing with Juan Carlos Navarro.....ok well at Pau Gasol to the list as well. Its annoying. Do these guys only have balls around their countrymen? Its a damn shame. You can add Scola and Andrew Bogut to the list too.

I'm looking forward to seeing Marc Gasol in Memphis. He's a beast. He's a tougher guy so I hope that translates.

o these guys only have balls around their countrymen?

But Ginobli and Nocioni bring their juevos for sure. I would put Divac, Parker, Ming, and Stojakovic on that list as well.

But some of these guys do seem afraid to shine in the NBA, but I would chalk that up to the all-around higher level of competition, and to a certain extent the NBA that does not put as much emphasis on skills as they do physical dominance.

I wonder what Erick Dampier would look like playing for Spain?

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Too bad I could not watch the game like I told you yesterday because it seems it was an excellent basketball game, the way the game should have been played.
So I just can say congrats to you all! Im very happy Spain played his best game of the olympics when it mattered the most, though it was not enough to best the best National team nowadays.

So congrats, well done!

I think this proves that there is absolutely, positively, no excuse for us to not win the gold metal in the olympics, anymore. No excuse four years ago, and there would have been no excuse now. The US needs to pick THE best players, and the players need to show up and bring their A+++ games in all aspects. No more pansy excuses to bail. Gut it out for 2 months and honor your country and keep the gold medal where it belongs.

Spain played like the world champs. That was a great game. We had the added advantage of wanting to avenge the death of thousands of bulls, and I feel that is what put us over the top.

Do you think future teams will be as motivated as this one to win the gold or do you think that we will have to lose again before our guys rediscover their "patriotism"?

By motivated, do you mean just coming out to join the team? Or motivated on the court and leaving it all out there. If you meant A), I have no clue. I still see a ****y NBA, in which players strike me as a bit delusional in terms of how they carry themselves and represent their league, not realizing that it literally affects the fans and other athletes that look up to them. Therefore, I can totally see someone like LeBron going "F' that, I've been there and done that. Who cares about the olympics?"

Will that happen? I don't know. I can only see it happening, but I wont predict it and actually say it will occur again.

As for being motivated on the court: When I watched the games 4 years ago, with Iverbury, I saw our guys busting their arses, but they were just getting outclassed. We played hard on defense, I felt, but just couldn't handle the global style. We also couldn't shoot the basketball for shyat and I don't think Jason Kidd was playing. Therefore, no PG. That team was destined to fail.

Believe it or not, I felt that, at the time, if we just had the Detroit Pistons represent the US, we could have had a chance to win. That team seemed to have everything and definitely had what it took to compete in the Olympics.

What about you Bip?

I agree with everything you said and I should have clarified. I think once they are on the court they are all competitors and will play hard. I was talking more about the motivation to play. At the next Olympics most of these guys will still be young enough to play. Will they? Or are we looking at an entirely new team again. It remains to be seen. My guess is that the team will probably be revamped due to "injuries" and "commitments"

Dunno, but I do know that Kobe couldn't make it the last time, b/c he was getting married. Dude, postpone your marriage for next year. If she really loves you, she'll wait a year. If she can't wait b/c she wants your money, then at least you know the chick is into you for just your money and NBA c**k. Marriage is not an excuse. If you're dealing with a real bad injury, fine. If you have a SEVERE personal commitment, fine. But 9 times out of 10, i'm willing to bet that it's neither of those.

LOL!!!!

About what Allanfan20 said, I dont agree about not being excuses for not winning this. If you dont bring the best team, or there is some other team elsewhere that plays better than you on a single game, then there thats a good excuse. This just proves that you have to do your best to win, like any other National team, which is what you also said.

I mean, you have the best league and the best players in the world, but sometimes thats not enough to win and we have seen many examples of that. We lost the European Championship to Russia last year, and I guess no one can deny that we were the better team with the better players. In the NCAA it happens annually.

I hope that, like you said, this help NBA superstars realize that their country needs them to win and to bring excitement to World Championships and Olympics Games.

I'm with you DarkKnicks. Talent is too close for it to be a given for anyone. The US will go in as the favorite or one of the favorites everytime but there is no guarantee they win. The US hit some huge shots everytime Spain made a run. Kobe showed why he was the MVP and DWade showed why he's a superstar with those huge shots to seal the game. But what if those shots don't go down?

One day they won't.

I compare it to my rec league. Last night we were heavily favored. Played a team that played us tough. With 10 seconds left down 1, the great Bippity scores a layup and the foul. He hits the foul shot and his team wins by 2. It was clearly a charge adn should have been called one. But some days the breaks go your way. One day they won't. Although this isn't true, because Bip gets all the calls. So I guess this isn't a good comparison

w/o Wade playing like he did the US woulda lost that game... Kobe made the plays down the stretch like he always does but Wade kept the US in the game & was the only guy getting steals & easy buckets for a good stretch of the game... the US basketball fan better start to realize just how close international teams are to the best the NBA has to offer.
