Dolan doesn't have the stomach for a full rebuild... that would mean he'd have to have a press conference, God forbid. So, I suppose this is a best-case scenario, given how terrible things are and will continue to be with this current ownership.

Piecing things together hasnt worked out very well--we have the worst record to payroll in the history of sports over 5 years. There is no close second place. We havent rebuilt the team and it shows.

Walsh's record is legit. He built the Pacers into championship contenders...TWICE! In recent times he turned an aging Mark Jackson and the 23rd pick into Jalen Rose and the 10th pick!! Turned an aging Dale Davis into Jermaine O'Neal and turned the aforementioned Jalen Rose into Ron Ron True Warrior and Brad Miller! ::oh my::

Thats what I'm excited about, bringing into the fold someone with that kind of vision and feel for the game. This 'Days of Our Lives' drama about Zeke and what the future may or may not hold doesnt interest me at this point.

"Worked out well" for briggs means "brings in wins"; for Dolan, it means "I've brought in enough money to satisfy Cablevision shareholders."

Don't know how much it matters but the Pacers are now denying the report.

It matters until either Walsh or the Knicks confirm it.

I'm pretty sure he wopuld like Mcgee if you arent pick 1-2-3. He tried to trade for Bynum and while the two have some differences--they also have some similarities that are very intriguing. I believe what Nate said--we need a big man who can go up and get it.

This team needs big changes!

Still no official word, huh? So do we have to wait until the season is over?

While in Knick-land the word bizarre has taken on new meaning, one wonders how many times can this happen?

I know some said they can see Isiah staying as coach, but while I can see Isiah staying around to earn his paycheck in some form, like say as a scout, or consultant, I cannot see him remaining as coach given the soured relationship that seems to have taken place with the players.

Maybe that's overblown, and we aren't in the locker room or in the heads of the players, but it would be strange. Unless, they plan to ship out those who are discontented with Isiah as coach. I think that just hamstrings the organization's ability to make roster changes too much making it just too little sense.

Pacers insist Donnie not taking Knicks job. Walsh not sure. I'm telling you's. He might not come.

Yes. That's the situation. Walsh is stepping down but will finish out this year's contract. Once that has happened then he will either accept the Knick offer or rebuff it. It appears he will simply accept it and then you will get your confirmation.

Until then he's still under contract with the Pacers but again has already had a PC confirming he will step down at the conclusion of this season.

I think we will have to hear more of these ****ty rumors for the next 3-4 weeks until the season ends. They will end up draining us in the end.

I mean what was the point of announcing "Walsh will sign but at the end of the season"? It makes no sense to me. We would have to wait till April 17 and beyond just to see if that is true.

I don't know WTF happens but I honestly hope James Moran interviews someone else besides one guy like he did for Isiah when we fired Layden. Hasn't this fat idiot realized that interviewing people requires interviewing more than one person? Does nobody tell him this? Not even Stern? There should be a rule in the NBA where you have to interview at least 3 candidates for a position.

James Dolan, whenever he finishes his run as owner, will go down as the worst owner in professional sports.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

I have to agree that it makes no sense to wait. The Knicks job is a prime job in the NBA, notwithstanding IT's past 4 years. You either commit or you pass, but you don't make the Knicks wait 1 month for your decision. Honestly, I think the decision has already been made and the only decision still in the air is the role, if any, that IT will have in the new regime.

I'm not blaming Walsh for anything. I'm blaming the media for being so eager to report a story that wasn't even clear to begin with.

It's only fair to Walsh, Dolan, and the Knicks to wait until the season is over to progress with anything. Isiah should not get fired until the season is over. We need to give him a fair chance to do worse than Brown.

To avoid a whole lot of useless paperwork that's why. What would be the point of the Pacers then having to buy Walsh out and submit all that paperwork to the league? Waste of time.

He will finish out his contract. Then he is a free man. Then he is free to accept or deny the Knicks 3yr offer. It is pretty likely he is going to accept it.

Then it is probable that he will become the President of the team. He will keep Isiah as General Manager but in a highly advisory role. Isiah won't have any control over anything. Isiah will also be taken off the bench and a new coach will take over.

That's how I see it playing out.

There's nothing to get upset about or impatient about. They're doing this the right way. The season ends in a couple of weeks and that's when Walsh's contract will expire with Indiana and that is when you're most likely to then see him sign the Knicks contract a few days after the fact.

Just let it play out....

Nothing happens on the Knicks without some kind of drama. This is not an ordinary sports franchise.

The fact is, if dolan (or whoever) wants Donnie, the decision will have to wait until the season is over. And anyone else who is available right now, will have to wait also. The Knicks GM position is' prime and if someone could fix it and make it legit, then they will have the lights on Broadway. Who wouldn't want that?
