nixluva, if you've ever had a failing it's been your inability to even consider the enviro-chemical reactions between players, and how toxic they can become. Marbury scowling around under a towel, sucking on sour grapes, is not conducive to this team developing the winning mood and direction so desperately needed.

Marbury is like a clogged toilet. Making the team keep using a clogged bowl is one approach, but not a very good one. Clearing the clog makes a lot more sense. It's time for fresh air.

It's not that I don't understand the chemistry issues, I just don't think they're an issue if the team is winning. Only when it's losing. PHX had no problems with Steph when the team was winning. In fact Colangelo is the one that signed Steph just before the season started to the Big extension he's on now. A couple of months later they did a complete about face and i'm tellin you that it was due to the team getting off to a slower than expected start. Then once Amare went down they totally rethought the whole thing and made a change. Here we've never gotten a chance to experience any winning, but Just imagine if H2O had been able to play and this team made a few playoffs. That would've changed the perception totally.

Now i'm not saying and didn't say that we SHOULDN'T trade Steph. Go back and read what I said. It's more about the difficulty in making a deal for a guy in his situation. If he's going to be here there's a way to make use of his skills and diminish his role so that this team can win. I don't think that it's an either/or type situation. There's an inbetween and it's the most realistic option, cuz I doubt that a deal that's good for us can be made. We've got the rest of this season and next and I don't believe dealing him while we're in turmoil makes any sense. Cut his minutes if you have to, but do what you can to get this team playing well again and then look to make your deal.

That still doesn't address the Jamal issue, which is almost equally important! Do we stick with this guy or look for something better?

nixluva, we've discussed marbury many times, in fact many of the quotes I post from former coaches, GMs and payers are in your honor. You're not even good at recognizing a train wreck in hind sight, as it was just a couple of weeks ago that you maintained the Knicks were his only troubled stop on his resume.

It was the same thing when you wouldn't even entertain theories that Marbury and Francis couldn't mesh, or run the Quick offense, or feed the post, or their egos might collide, etc.

Sure, winning can mask many sins, but foresight can forestall many as well, and this management team has shown little constructive foresight. Some of this foresight can also predict what will struggle to win.

And don't think Colangelo was blind to emerging problems with Marbury. Here we see he re-signed him to forestall losing him to free agency and keep him as an asset more than to make him a part of their future:

With the trade, the Suns have essentially given up on the 2001 trade that
sent Jason Kidd to New Jersey for Marbury.

At the time, the Suns went on the belief that Kidd would test free agency -
which is exactly what he did last year - and that the club would have to
dole out a $100-million contract to keep him at age 31. The Nets did just
that to secure Kidd.

Now, Marbury is gone, too, but the club is in position to dramatically
reduce its $65 million payroll. Colangelo said the team had to extend
Marbury's contract or he could have exercised his option at the end of the
season and been gone with the Suns getting nothing in return.

For all we know, he might have already known he had the knicks in line as a possible destination before he inked that contract. With our participation, instead of just shedding Marbury's contract he also dumped Hardaway and gained two Euro prospects and two first round draft picks. An outstanding maneuver that few could appreciate the genius of at the time.

If Steph gets bought out, do you think he'd go to Boston? Back with KG? Then they would really stomp us. Or maybe he'd ruin their team.

NO WAY. There's no way they bring him in to destroy the chemistry they have going there.

Personally, I agree with you, but KG and Steph have some weird love thing going on. I wouldn't be surprised if KG campaigns to bring him on board. If anyone can keep him in his place, it's KG.

There is no weird love thing going on. They never spoke to each other after Marbury left Minny. Only when KG told McHale to either bring in talent or trade him did he say he'd welcome Steph to Minny. It was more desperation than love.

knicks gave isola this story.

berman is too far shoved up into steph's rectum.
the other papers don't have enough of a readership.

so isola is the only real viable outlet to release this story.

Marbury AWOL from Knicks
BY ALAN HAHN
2:00 PM EST, November 13, 2007

Point guard Stephon Marbury was AWOL from the Knicks' morning shootaround today, possibly after being informed that he would not be in the starting lineup tonight due to poor defense.

It is unknown whether or not Marbury will show up for tonight's game in Phoenix.

Thomas described Marbury's absence as an in-house issue and said that Marbury would be welcomed back if he was willing to play the way the team wanted him to play.

Marbury's benching comes after a subpar effort against the Miami Heat on Sunday, after which Thomas criticized his players for poor defense and turnovers.

A report in today's editions of the New York Daily News cited a high-ranking Knicks official in claiming that the team was in talks about Marbury's future with the team.

Marbury is owed $42 million over the two years remaining on his contract. A buyout would be costly, but not completely out of character for a franchise that paid an $18.5 million settlement for the firing of Larry Brown in 2006.
