does anybody else have problems with the all caps thread title? i think it's an outrage.

Hey, Walker Russell, Jr. is BIG news.

Why did the Knicks put his first name in the news release, and the last names of the other 2 guys? Strange.

I'm really gonna miss Walker Russell Jr.

poor mans version of walker russell, sr.

I kind of wondering why JJ3 was brought in. It was just for cash, but I thought he was going to Europe. Maybe his agent told the Knicks that he would without asking too.

I could've sworn a blockbuster deal was going to happen a few weeks ago, the way Isiah was bringing all of these players to camp.
I'll never trust this' team again.

So we will get to see nichols kill the knicks with feeds from lebron all damn day... Stupid move, if we knew cleveland wanted this kid, I would have held him and offer him to cleveland for some kind of future pick.. Jerome james is useless, dolan must have closed the cash register and is about to fire Isiah, becuase I see no reason to keep james around and not keep this kid.... wow..

Nothing' absolutely Nothing' makes any sense here at all! We let young picks go, keep old broken down bums (or brought them here to begin with) and pay untold millions to useless, never matured, attituded players to this team. I know one thing, when Isiah is finally gone, he would have ended here as one of the worst we ever had. A year ago, I was arguing how Layden's crap got dumped on him, but then started to realize how he was carrying in the same foot prints the fine art of ****ing up a roster. This guy Zack is going to have to be the difference and he's one step away. And that's not even taking into account if we have any major injuries, which we are sure to have. I must of been out of my mind to even think this guy could-would bring someone like Kobe Bryant to New York. Shoot myself in the head!
I'll never trust this' team again.

Cleveland signed him? Where did you see that?

[Edited by - basketballjones on 10-25-2007 11:39]

cleveland expressed interest and they need a big guard who can shoot. This is a no brainer, and if you were nichols, and had the chance to play with lebron and a good organization in cleveland, you hop on the next plane.

Hellllll yeah!
I'll never trust this' team again.

Isiah just threw away 2 2nd rd picks by waiving Nichols. Knock Nichols' game all you want but you can't possibly defend Isiah throwing away assets like that.

It's absolutely insane how Isiah mismanages assets the way he does.

Don't forget about the two he gave to chicago for our very own Super Duper star Eddie Curryyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
I'll never trust this' team again.

Well then why did people make a big deal when we traded Trevor Ariza?

There's value in those second round picks. No need to just waste them -- especially when you are wasting them in a continued effort to justify giving a max MLE contract to a waste of space like Jerome James.

Trevor Ariza made the team with no problem and had already proved he could make an impact in an NBA game. He was/is better than Nichols. And he didn't try to play hardball with no bargaining position.

If I recall, the big deal about his trade was people saying good riddance because he was delusional.

Losing Ariza really isn't any big deal. He's been replaced twice already.

Second round picks have value, but not much. They are traded like water, and second round picks are cut all of the time.

Nichols got what he wanted right? He asked to be released.

oohah

This guys name just won't go away. It's like the Allan Houston nightmare. Just when you think they're dead and buried, the corpse show up again.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Thank God, the Legacy of Jerome James will continue.

He must have the greatest job in the world. $6M a year to pretty much be fat, idle and do nothing.

Good example of saving money for a rainy day. Well' it's raining and we have no money.
I'll never trust this' team again.

people who knock nichols game, only do so to defend isiah. I mean if anything, keep the kid, showcase him and then go to miami, LA or cleveland and say, if you like this kid, what are you willing to offer. I mean how many 6'8 shooters are there in this league, that can acutally shoot? or that have no value? To me this is a colossal waste, considering that we did it and have to keep jerome james.. what a damn joke..

I have no doubt that Nichols is going to make it in this league. I hope this is the major mistake that does Isiah in (finally). Jerome's contract is guaranteed for three more years with his last year being 'his option'. I still think Isiah's getting ready to bolt for chicago at some point. Just making sure he screws up the roster just a little' more, before he goes.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Isles. I remember the same thing with matt carrol. OH, people were saying he wasn't that good to make the team over (X) player.. LOL.. matt carrol kills us every time we play the bobcats and still is a better shooter than anyone we have on this team... Go figure...

Totally forgot about that guy. Yet another example!

He's not great on the assists, but in 191 games, @ 19 min. a game, he's averaged 8.9 PPG, 86% FT Shooting and a 39.9% 3PT-FG. How's that for a guy who got cut by you know who. I had high hopes for this kid and he didn't even get a chance.

You just have to figure that this team has made so many poor financial decisions that our hands are now tied.

Wow! Someone finally figured it out!!!

Not sure what Nichols did to get waived except play really well- but we don't really value that here.

He got cut because he didn't have any personal problems. It's a requirement on this team.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Matt Carroll was barely played by and was cut by Portland and San Antonio, and played in the minors before he stuck with Charlotte, and it took multiple injuries to Charlotte before he could get any run there.

It took him years of work to improve enough to get to the point he is now, which is a good bench player on a bad team.

I think Carroll then is better than Nichols now.

oohah

when carrol was in knicks camp he could shoot then and he can shoot now. Portlan cutting him means nothing because portland was basically a tire fire back then. The spurs? well I can see that, they were stocked.

Carrol is a good bench player on a bad team? year charlotte is bad, but no worse then us last year, that is for sure, and he is a legit contributor on that team, unless you think they gave him a multi year deal, near 30 mil, for just being a decent back up on a bad team. You can spin it how you want. Shooters in this league are at a premium, carrol can shoot, and nichols can shoot, plus he is 6'8 and showed the potential to be a good defender. We cut him, wasting a second round pick, and still keeping useless jerome james on this team. I really thought this team was trying to move forward... damn

We can mention a few other' useless bums on this team also. James shouldn't take on all the burden. Plus he has three years left on his contract, with his last year being his option.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Nobody is suggesting that this is the end of the world on it's own. The point is that it's just a continuation of the poor management by Isiah that has put us in this postition.

The deadweight and the redundant players on the roster cost the Knicks a young player with a skill that they desperately need and a 2nd rd pick next year. Yet another asset wasted for nothing.

Isiah's stupid.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I've been on record as supportive of Isiah as GM and coach,

If I may ask, 'how could you still be supporting someone like this?'

idiotic is the word alright... jerome james & jared jefferies are completely useless, but because Isiah was the moron who signed them to begin with they make the roster... just 1 more reason why he needs to be fired.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Papabear Says

Zeke wanted Nichols he wouldn't have picked him up if he didn't. Dolan wouldn't sign off on getting rid of Jerome James. We had no room for him.
