Wow, that's a bad loss.

bullpen...bullpen...bullpen.

yankee fans got on torre ROUGH at the start of the season b/c of his bullpen use.

but when you figure wang was hurt early, no clemens, and starters were going about 5 innings - it's quite easy to go through your bullpen.

and this was before edwar joined the pen...and of course joba.

met's bullpen is the weakest part of the team - that's not willie, that's omar.

I'm officially down on this team now. I thought I had a good read on them, but after Wright's error in the 9th, I realized -- this team suffers from major overconfidence, lack of focus, lack of urgency, whatever you wanna call it.

The Mets were 88-0 recently when leading after 8 b y 2+ runs. Since then we have lost when leading by 2+ 4 times we have now given up 2+ runs during the game 18 out of 30. With all that being said we are still 1.5 up with 8 left.

that's the key - the team is still 1.5 games up. they are still in the driver's seat despite the losses.

but in the last 100 games, the mets are 50-50, the phillies are 57-43.

i still say mets win the division and the NL is still their's to lose.

that is true but do you think that it is mental now? when you lose like this against pretty much lesser teams, it probably is mentally taxing and causes problems like errors ( see david wright, "mvp" candidate). even optimistic willie seems spent when he is usually positive. 8 games is a lot and how the phillies are playing we have NO room for error. this is not like when we were struggling in june because we have a little over a half season. we only have a week and a half to turn it around or by september 30, the mets will watch the phillies REALLY celebrate in their lockerroom while the mets clean out theirs.

I can't see a .500 team over the last 100 games being the favorite. I really don't see the Mets getting past the Diamondbacks or Padres in the first round.

y'all just need to get in & then anything can happen... look how the White Sox went into the postseason reeling a couple years ago & then won it all... the Cardinals weren't exactly world beaters in the regular season either when they won their title... main thing is u need to straighten out the bullpen, cuz w/o any reliable relief pitching, ur goose is cooked.

After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

I think Willie learned how to manage a bullpen from Torre.

That's not a good thing.

And Minaya needs to take some of the hits for this, not just Willie. Willie is only working with what Minaya gave him.

Duaner Sanchez being a lazy slug who didn't put effort into rehab really impacted our bullpen. I don't think anyone in the organization thought he'd be unavailable all season. The kid goes from being a lights out relief guy to being in a cab accident to being a non-factor. It sucks. But that's no excuse. I wouldn't mind having Heath Bell right now. What was the point of that trade exactly?

Duaner Sanchez = Carl Pavano

The Mets bullpen stinks, that's on Minaya, not Willie.

That's fine. I'm not down on Willie as much as others are. I'm not as enthralled with Minaya as some people are. But to me this is all secondary (until after the season at least). I could care less about assigning blame right now. I just want my team to make the playoffs and catch fire.

Starter have to go deep on this team-
Our releif corps are small- but they can hold a lead some days-
But it's not like last year where the starter can go 5 and hand it over-
Our pitcher will have to have deep outings down the stretch-
Willie should undertand just because Sosa could do 2 innings one night doesn't mean you can wear him out- Isles is right - that's how Torre burns out the pen- we don't have that luxury.
All things being equal- that was Glavine's game yesterday- the end of the game hurt becasue of the blown comeback but he was shelled and lucky it wasn't worse. That being said- Tommy has quietly been our best starter this year.
If you are still following the team and reading sites like this, there is nothing, short of your own demise, that is going to throw you off this train.
