>>Hey Earl, what are you doing over here with these charity cases?

Just keeping my game sharp in the offseason homes.

I heard that charity started with the home team. Heck, SOMEBODY hasta champion the cause for positive Knicks vibes or else what you'd be left with is a bunch of doubters claiming the world is flat.

Besides, decent fun-lovin' cats like nixluva and BigBeast just need someone to keep the hyenas at bay once in a while

Damn it's good to read you rembee.

Hey, it’s cool Earl, so long as you know how to make your way home. I got lost for a bit after my absence until Chip put me on the path.

Some earnest, thoughtful folk here on this forum. Salt of the earth, god bless them. I might hang around awhile myself.

NYT Mafia?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

You got that straw man to keep the crows away, Blue, or does he keep you warm at night?

You were the one who brought sweetney and writers into the conversation, so you obviously prefer to chew straw than Curry.

[Edited by - blueseats on 04-27-2007 4:41 PM]

Sorry, but what does that even mean? You guys speak English here, or is this a board set up to help ESL students practice.

Specifically, I was referring to ESPN's John Hollinger (I believe) who wrote a piece evaluating the trade and predicted that Curry and Sweetney's production would be comparable. Point being, any self serving horse's behind can make the comparison, doesn't mean it makes any sense.

Comprende?

Note to self: this dude appears to be a high on volume, low on content kind of poster. Momma said, the louder they come, the less they have to say.

To chew straw rather than curry is to make use of the idiom to 'chew the fat,' which means to discuss. So you preferred to discuss your straw men (Sweetney and Hollinger) rather than stay in the point about Curry. When I took your bait and made a further point about Sweetney and expectations you accused me of bringing straw men into the conversation.

Not sure why staying on point is difficult for you, but I'll make another note of it.

Low on content, poor on comprehension, likes diversion, sassy but boring. Anything I should know about you?

I think it's a combination of a mental disposition and not being in the greatest shape possible. We know he's not going to ever be a slim guy, but he can certainly change his body composition to be much more lean than he is. His mental disposition on D has to change as his offense did. He was much more demanding, active and aggressive on offense than he has been in the past. On D if he can make a similar dedication to increase his effort on that end he'll be a great player. He's shown at times that he CAN do it, but the WANTING to be that kind of player has to start deep inside.

I really hope that the staff can work with him on his FOCUS on both ends. If he can make it a habit to fight for rebounds and to take it personal when penetrators come right at him, he'd get much better. He must take more PRIDE in stopping guys from scoring on his team. I think he just doesn't have the right mental attitude towards that part of his game. I'm not gonna say he's lazy, cuz I don't think that's really the reason for his not being more effective in those areas.

I'm not even sure he's trying to conserve energy. The guy has had game where he logged some heavy minutes. Any guy his size that can log 50 mins, score 43 and nab 13 rebs isn't lazy. The guy logged 36 mpg in Dec., Jan. and Mar. 37 in Feb. and 35 mpg in Apr. In some of those games he had double figure rebs, but in too many of those games he had low single digit rebs. Those lulls are what he has to stay away from.

First, who "chews" curry? Its a spice. And we should be over the lame Eddy "Curry" jokes. The guy isn't even Indian, Pakistani, or to the best of my knowledge Thai.

You throw a lot of "big words" in a sentence and think that makes this a quality retort. Poor on comprehension? You'll find that happens when people try to read posts from posters who can't put complete sentences together.

I'm not going to go back through the history more than once, it isn't worth repeating. But from what I can tell, this other fellow and I were about to have a perfectly civil discussion. He thought the fact that some yahoo posted a comparison between Zaza and Eddy meant that Eddy sucked. I posted an example I knew of a respectable writer's comparison greatly underestimating Curry's abilities (and overestimating the guy he was being compared to).

So, somehow, you thought it was germane to point out that some buddies of yours (great guys, I'm sure) thought Sweetney was the next Barkley. Some smart buddies you have, but completely off the point. And, more as a reference to the straw man comment, totally unverifiable and most probably made up to make whatever point you thought you were making.

But its water under the bridge, only important to our egos as posters on an insignificant chat forum, and totally irrelevant to the Knicks. I can't help but notice this is the subject you choose to take further, instead of the other strings you and I got tangled in, which would have required infinitely greater mental exertion on your part, and more effort to defend postions that (perhaps) have gone unchallenged here.

Well, its a new dawn here on ultimateknicks.com. You and your Momma may think you are hot stuff. But you're not.

What might those have been? I've seen nothing substantive from you yet, certainly not in this thread. And the only other thread I've seen you in found you mocking DJ for his research (calling him Columbo) and then mocking the moderators by insinuating after one flippant day on the board that you could do what they already do quite well, and should be paid for it.

You're a new guy here as far as I'm concerned, and maybe you've got a lot more to offer than you've shown us so far. If you do, great. Welcome. This is a great place to get into the nitty gritty. But if yesterday is representative of the best you have to offer, I expect very little. A lot of smoke and little fire.

If that makes me haughty in your eyes, so be it. But just so you know, it's not because I think so highly of myself - on the contrary, I'm but an average poster here at best - but I consider the minimum standard here to be quite high. Coming in and being sassy and flippant at every opportunity, with little to back it up, is disrespectful to the standard, in my humble opinion.

Take the last word if you'd like, and see you around.

You want to play Forum Police here, be my guest, but refrain from commenting on exchanges that don't concern you, you don't understand, and know nothing about.

The problem here, me thinks, is that you guys know me about as well as my local Starbucks barista. And I hate Starbucks.

But no worries. I' going to do everything in my power to change that.

You're right. He played some big minute games. The only way a guy his size could play that many minutes is to REST on defense. Lazy ass mofo. And btw, 13 rebs in 50 minutes is AVERAGE for a center. Nothing more!
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
