My point is that its' inevitable to hope we'll save enough money to get under the cap.

It's not gonna happen.

Keep telling yourself that and then get back to the drawing board.

Golden State is/was basically in the same position as us.

What they've become/will become is essentially the best we can hope for.

DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

i wouldn't trade Curry or D Lee for Rashard... Frye, Nate, Balkman or any of the other young kids, hell yes.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Just to be clear, I agree with you that is the way to go but it's never going to happen. I don't think its been dopy GM's that have made those trades, I believe they made them with Dolan's mandate.

It never happens because no one ever makes it happen, no one seems to believe it can happen, no one says anything about it, like I'm trying to do, so we create this viscious circle and live by it. What do you' think?

I've made the same statement that you've made in this thread a million times that we should change things and let contracts run out and tank for a top lotto pick. Problem is, we don't run the Knicks, James Dolan does.

I think the reality of our situation is that since James Dolan owns the team, and probly will for the next 3 decades, we'll never realistically be able to tank and/or clear enough cap space to actually "rebuild".

But that doesn't mean he won't fire Isiah and bring in someone with more street cred -- like a Colangelo.

The sooner we bring in a legit GM, the sooner we can start constructing this team properly -- no more mismatched personell, no more wasting draft picks, and certainly no more using expiring contracts to "stockpile talent".

Basically I think what I'm saying is that Eddy Curry isn't and never will be a franchise player, so there's no point in keeping him unless you have the team built properly.......and in our case, that's probably never gonna happen b/c we'll never get a star through the draft, and trading for those happen once in a blue moon, and we won't even have expirings for a few years.

Golden State is probly the most similiar team I can think of.

The trade for Baron Davis was very similiar to the ones for Francis and Marbury.

They've overpaid for talent (but recently made up for it).

They've stockpiled talent through the draft with mid-lotto picks recently (like us), and have no legit franchise player.

What they have that we don't is a consistent 20+ scorer (JRich), and a shotblocking big man in the middle.

What we need to do is trade Curry for 1 of those (Lewis), and get the other in the draft (Thabeet).

More consistent guards???

Guy ---

Almost ALL our money is tied up in "guards", and we need MORE???!!

We have some serious structural problems with the team; EC is not a franchise player. He's MAYBE a better version of Kevin Duckworth.

If he's lucky he'll get to 1 All-Star game, and that's it.

Where's this "more consistent" superstar Guard?

How are we going to get one?

We had 1 chance (Carter), and we blew it. That was 3 years ago...

Vince Carters come along MAYBE once every 5 years via trade.

I think we have something going with Curry. You add Curry and Lee scoring 40-45 points @ 60% I think you fix things in other areas to compensate--let balkman play more 3--he can block some shots he has a nice energy to him--develop him. The guards kill us--they are not good defensively for the most part and they are drastically inconsistent--we live and die because Crawford and Q can shoot us in or shoot us out because we can't sustain D. I think you ultimately live with Crawford--but there is REBUILDING to be done in the backcourt and its NOT Mardy Collins or Nate.

^ I don't disagree with some of that assessment.

But that's like a guy with a 6 inch dick saying, you know the problem is I should have a 10 incher.

Find, dandy, but HOW are you gonna accomplish that?

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

There's a lot of scam e-mails that tell you how to accomplish it (so I've heard!)

Carter? Carter's a 'has-been'. Think a little bigger and how to get there. Think LeBron or Carmelo (Bron would be easier to get). Think bigger. If you think bigger, then you see that we can't get there using mickey mouse moves. We need money and lots of it. Were can we get it? Expiring contracts! Let one, two run out and get to another few expirings! How much money would that be? What do ya think? You think we can gather about 50 million a year off the books if we could offer a legit contract to guys like that? Of course we can!!! Forget about draftees and small time man. It ain't happening. We had that chance last year, but we gave it away to stinky onion. And stinky has the other one after this year also. Why? Because of panic moves. Layden was a dumb GM, who made some really dumb moves. Zeke simply panicked and now it's biting him in the asz. The thing that always kills our hopes and dreams of having one of the dominating teams in this league. Man' I am telling all of you, if we just wait for that money to free up and make those offers, we could be set for the next ten seasons! Playoffs every year and if we build smart around a superstar such as someone like the names mentioned, we could actually win several NBA championships. New York City is a very attractive place to play for. Just ask the New York Yankees. The prob is, the Knicks just don't have the money. I hope that puts it into a little more perspective.
I'll never trust this' team again.

Guy you're completely delusional.

But keep telling yourself that Dolan will allow us to get way under the cap.

If Carter had come here instead of NJ, we'd still be losing and he'd be pouting. He needed Kidd to kick his butt into gear.
