Dirk Nowitzki was once known as a poor defender. So was Yao, as big men go. There is plenty of time for him to improve.

No one is saying he won't. I'm just worried thats all. Is it a crime that I'm worried about Eddy as a defender when he's shown no signs of becoming one yet?

along with this 20pt binge has been a healthy rebounding improvement. and that's the first step with getting him more active.

26pt 15reb tonight
27pt 12reb the game before.

those are all-star center numbers. rebounds are improving, he's at a career high this year so far, he looks more active and the zone helps mask some of his defiecies. I think the key is surrounding him with great defenders. Dlee and Qrich and Jefferies are ideal in this regard. we really need to work on the backcourt though, unless we move Q back to SG.

This is what I have been saying all along. I had a 1 hour argument with gunsnewing on Sunday about this. I think Eddy will really benefit from playing with natural defenders. I see Balkman rubbing off on people who dive for loose balls. I think Eddy will improve playing next to JJSkinny. I agree with you that the signs are pointing to his defense improving in the future. It will not happen tomorrow or in January.

Curry really had 16 rebounds tonight a new career high. In the first 3 minutes of the game he had 2 boards including one in heavy traffic but the official scorer got confused and gave Qrich the board that curry grabbed in traffic. Several people including myself noticed that early
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

Please do....and don't email them, post them right here. Expose me as a hypocrite. I know I never said anything like that because saying a player sucks is 5th grade stuff. When I post, I always say specifically what a player is good at and what a players is bad at. I NEVER generalize by saying a player "sucks". Please search away and post whatever posts you find where I specifically say Curry sucks, and post them here.
I will post it and show what a hypocrite you are. It was a game thread, I forget what game but since its only been 20 games, I should be able to find it. I wish there was a search feature to make my life easier. Its fine though. Just finding it still wont prove anything cause you will backpedal and say something like "i meant this" etc. You will still find something to be negative about with the Curry or Isiah. Fact is, you, me and every other Knick fan would kill for an offensive post player like Eddy.

Everyone and their mother wants Eddy to play defense so don't act like you are in a small group or something. Who wouldn't want the center to be defensive? Someone people are opposed to the idea of giving props for offensive consistency. Others are ready to wait and see with his defense. I'll find that quote and post it on this thread for you as soon as I find it. I wonder if it will do anything though. You still wont change your point of view.

Do whatever you got to do Silver. Good luck with that. Fact remains I have the same scouting report on Curry as I always have. Good to great offensive player, bad defensive player. Seems his motivaion as a rebounder has changed which is good.

Do me a favor and bookmark this post so you can find it later.

ok joe. looks like I am the one doing all the favors. I have a feeling you are asking me to bookmark this so that you can backup that by saying "what I meant was" blah blah. Cool. Thats what words spoken on a forum are worth I guess. You still wont change your view on Curry.

BTW, he is starting to rebound now. I think he can average 8 rebounds a game this year! He just might turn into a decent defensive player.

Silver, I don't understand why all the drama. All I said was I want his D to improve. He is doing beastly inside. His rebounding has skyrocketed. Of course I'm happy about it. My view on Curry has ALWAYS been high potential, low motivation. Always. He is an offense first player.

Silver, at this point and I said this before, I give Curry til Frye comes back. If Curry is still playing at the current level, Frye should be seriously shopped. I've said it before in other posts within the last week.

And Yes, I said at the beginning of the season that I would rather have Frye's consistency than Curry's potential, and yes I said I would trade Curry when Frye was balling. I also said it would hurt if Curry fulfilled his potential with another team.

Your confusing negativity with not just buying into 7 great games from Curry. I am infinately more negative towards Isiah, because I hate his attitude, and the fact that he seems like a Teflon Don with Dolan.

You said earlier in the thread that Curry's defense does need work. That is all I was saying, also. I said I like his offense but I still wish his defense was at least average. I don't understand why you are going overboard with this.

You can call me a hypocrite, say I back-peddle, whatever you want. If you believe that to be the truth so be it, I could personally care less. Then ignore my posts, since any further discussions between you and I will be fruitless since I "always back peddle".

No. You said he is not good because he can be Duncan but he is not Duncan. Thats where I took an exception. To me, that is being way too stingy.

No I am not. I'm not calling Curry the next big thing. Here is what I see. More minutes played. Less fouls. More attempts at rebounding. Better passes than last season. More points scored. More rebounds. This has been all through the season give or take a few. 20 games in, the guy is balling.
I am infinately more negative towards Isiah, because I hate his attitude, and the fact that he seems like a Teflon Don with Dolan.
I cannot believe the guy wore a blue shirt today either! The ****ing nerve. Wait till he says he wants fans to cheer for his players. Never mind that cheering for the team is in the interest of the fans. Never mind that the athletes are human. Never mind that some of these players still have not learned to play well in New York. Lets not give them anytime. Lets treat them like as*holes because we are unhappy at them losing. I cannot believe Isiah wants us to cheer for his team!! That bastard!!

First off, I did not bring up Duncan into the conversation nor did I say that.

This is the whole post:

Joe I agree with a lot you said. I just have a few questions. Why do you think Curry has small hands and short arms? I thought he had big hands and a good wing span. Ewing had small hands for a center.

He has lost alot of rebounds, and he just seems to have hands of stone....Maybe he just doesn't have soft hands as opposed to having small hands. And I haven't measured Curry's arms that is something that I just look at. Howard, Wallace, Chandler, Marion, Kirilenko....all just seem to have the super long arms. Curry doesn't, but once again, that is just something I think I see.
Also when did Big z become a 22-8 guy?
I think in his best year he was like a 17-7 guy:)

You would be correct. I thought at one point he was better, but that leads into a another direction. If Curry only finishes on the same level as Big Z, I'll be disappointed.

I see the problem and I thing you will be disappointed....... ONly people 7foot that have gotten 22/8 for a season in the last 6 years and are Centers are named Yao or Shaq or POWERFORWARDS (Garrent, Duncan, Nowizk, Gasol, JONeil, Bosh,)...... Curry isn't built to get 22 and 8, because most centers aren't(unless they are alltime players like shaq and Yao).
7-8 rebounds and 17-18 points a game would make Curry the best center this year behind Yao.

Once again, without bringing down Curry, he is capable of being better than Yao, IMO. Other than Duncan, Shaq, and Yao, all the players you mentioned can mentioned as perimeter players too.

Duncan is a center, IMO, also. At least that is what he is playing this year.

The potential I see in Curry is very high, as long as he's motivated. I believe if he is motivated he can get on the same level as most of the players you mentioned.

Directly copied and pasted. Anji brought up names. Only reason I mentioned Duncan is SugarRay said he was a power forward and I pointed out he is a center.

Closest thing I ever said to what you interpreted is I would be disappointed if Curry didn't play up to his potential. I gave Curry a freaking compliment here man, I don't know what you are reading(read the bolded part)!

Curry looks like a totally different player the last 7 games. It was a quantum leap over what he was doing, Silver.

Isiah is a bastard. That's besides the point. This fan stuff aside, Isiah has not been held accountable for anything he has done here and he still has Dolan's ear. I don't get it. Sue me.

28 straight is unreal. I think that may have been in 1990 when he was 27. Hopefully Curry can have 18 straight by the time he is 27.
Patrick averaged like 29ppg that year

By the way.

Yes I think Curry will score 20points in 7 straight games. Watch it happen!

I respect your ability to go out on a limb. I originally predicted the streak to end vs washington. I hope I'm wrong

uh, I don't think Jordan (pre-Wizards) even had 28 games in his whole career below 20 points... likewise Wilt. So, I'm guessing that's a Knicks record...
