according to isiah's interviews, he views QRich and Jrose as Small Forwards.

That's what he keeps saying and that's what I believe he is sticking to.

I think he prefers to keep all of his prized rooks.

One thing for sure, he's seen every knick home game his entire tenure here from just behind the bench in his little corridor, so he's well versed on what the knicks can and can't do.

Jrose or Qrich will not be a knick before the season starts (not being a knick could mean being penny hardaway'd).

If he manages to trade francis and qrich for Kmart, then I would take that on the chin because it provides two key things for the knicks.

A PF we can bring along at his own pace because of his injury and the back court glut disappears before our eyes.

Wow, basketball! Mark this day down. That's why the question of who I keep and dump and being able to talk trash has no meaning to me. Rvhoss is correct. Isiah is the coach. It's his line-up. He will decide who will work best together. He knows what works and will be working to get rid of the rest. Coach's have a philosophy and they find who fits into it.

We've already heard the trade rumors. We all can look a the roster and see it's kind of obvious who will be going and who needs to go, so I don't understand who would be going out on the limb by saying who needs to be traded. We all know it's Q and Jalen.

When Isiah's rotations are set it will be much easier to determine what we need to do from here. Anything else is just a guess.

bip, i hate agreeing with you, and I usually do, I just don't type the agreements...what would be the fun in that.

But watching summer league, etc...to me, here is the run down:
Jrose (expiring, no part of future plans, let's go with jeffries and balkman)
MTaylor (see jrose)
Qrich (hates marbs...I mean more than Mck1 does)
Franchise (Crawford is ready for the show...we don't need 'em)
Marbury (if franchise stays, marbury goes, it's that simple)

I love Qrich, but if he's not down with coming off the bench to knock down 3's, then he's not down to be on my team. He's got to get off the "i hate marbury" bandwagon and do his job...he's probably mad at marbs because marbs said he sucked. That's usually why players get mad at each other...they get told they suck when they do...if he didn't have so many air balls...

All this trade crawford, nate and marbury rants are just pure stupidity.

Everyone else is the future.

gotta go...off the cuff..cut me some slack martin on this post...didn't proof read AND i agreed with bip (somewhat)

rvhoss - I don't feel that Kenyon Martin is even a blip on Isiah Thomas' radar for several reasons, not the least of which is the knee.

The frontcourt is assembled to be together for the next few years... except for backup center. Somebody, hopefully, is monitoring Jerome James offseason promise to get serious about his conditioning.

The battle will be for the first off-guard off the Pine

Comeon, 275 is probably the best weight he can come in at, but that is the your starting point of being simi-happy???? He's 7 foot tall, all he really needs to do is come in under 300(285 ish) and in good condition.

And exactly how many people would NOT have jumped for joy if the Knicks moved into the top five spots in the 2001 draft and selected Eddy Curry?

Lets Jump In The Way Back Machine

From nbadaft.net

>>Strengths: Has more strength and polish than Shaq at the same age. The only thing that can stop Eddy Curry from becoming the next dominant force in the NBA is Eddy Curry. Has off the charts strength. athleticism is very good for a player his size. Has learned to score despite constant double and triple teams. Has a nifty turn around, can even knock down the occaisional 18 footer. Unlike Shaq and Wilt, does not have the achilles freethrow curse.

>>Has a better combination of strength and agility than anyone in high school since Shaquille O'Neal. Very soft hands, excellent leaping ability. Still has a lot to learn but his game is further along then Shaq was at the same age.

>>Has a great turn around hook shot. Overpowers everyone he goes up against. Could be the missing piece to stop a Laker championship run. Even has a decent 3 point shot which he displays on occasion. Doesn't appear likely that he'll play in college.

would we have given the #2 pick as well as a probably lottery pick the following year to get him? Did he have a heart problem then? Did he have a $10mm a year contract that year?

Funny... you left this out:
Weaknesses: Weight has become a concern. Consistency. Has had his ups and downs over the course of his senior season. In a much hyped matchup with Tyson Chandler, Curry left the 30+ scouts who came to see the matchup scratching their heads. Must continue to "want it" and develop to ever become the player that Shaq is.

Whats closer to reality? A guy who could be the next Shaq, or a guy with constant weight problems that has yet to convince he "wants it."

Stay tuned

fish.make - dang, you gotta get up EARLY in the morning ton slip something past you. Nice catch on Curry's projected "downside".

But hey, they ALL have downside, right?

Okay, maybe not Lebron or D Wade but men like those are rare.

Curry is not the next Shaq any more than Kobe is the next Jordan or David Wright is the next ... er... um... Ed Charles... but...

he's 6'11 and is still finding his voice

he's friends with Jamal

he's only 23 and has his best years ahead of, not behind, him

like too many super-sized young men, he seems shy and uncertain of when and how to use his strength at this level. where he couold go where he wanted in high school, in the NBA he must learn how and where to create space on the floor.

He will also benefit from the Knicks making a decision on the the backcourt rotation. That will affect his comfort level on where he receives the ball or makes the extra pass.

Eddy Curry at 27 will be better than Eddy Curry at 23.

But that's just me

really? Dont guys that are always overweight get knee problems faster? Is KMart better at 27 than at 23?
But hey, they ALL have downside, right?
YES... your 100% right, and this is my point ALL along. A good GM actually plans for a downside. A good GM thinks that while he likes Curry, that there is a *possibility* that his shortcomings show and he's ineffective, injured often, whatever. So *that* GM gets lottery protection on the picks he's giving up.

With me????

There's more to it than "I like Eddie."

Its like the weather Earl... nobody wants to be caught in the rain, so the well prepared bring umbrellas. Is that being a pessimist? Is that assuming the worst will happen? Or just better planning then the wet guy trying to use a newspaper (Isiah).

It Ain't Your Money

(bootlegged from my man emann)

>>Cap space, the lack thereof and the harm it creates is greatly exaggerated IMHO.

>>There are too many teams out there with no cap space problems who have had no success building a winner. So the cap space phenomena is overanalyzed and used as an excuse far too often.

>>This is why I have always respected ZEKE’S approach because he has never used the lack of cap space as an excuse. Instead ZEKE has said these are the cards that we have been dealt so I will make the best deal for talent upgrades that I can and damn the torpedoes.

>>Oh yes, Q_RICH is very tradeable, plus ZEKE has the ending contracts of MO and JALEN, both of whom figure to have their market value surge upward the closer we get to the mid-season trade deadline. Each has the potential to bring us high draft choices in return as well as free up roster spots if that is the direction we elect to go come mid-February.

STOP ISIAH THOMAS NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!!!

[Edited by - misterearl on 08-08-2006 08:51 AM]

This is the way I see the cap space for the Knicks. They made they're own cap! The only thing is, wheneve we have a chance to get some of that down, to offer a star free agent a contract, we are all capped out in our own cap. Hell' the Yankees are 200 mil plus. Why don't we just push it further and go for the big guys and buy out the little guys like starbury and francis? Make the playoffs happen and Dolan will make all of his money back! So much for a cap, the Knicks have shattered all the rules!
I'll never trust this' team again.
