phil1c - And, anyway, what IS (Brown's) system? 33 lineups in 50 games? NOT taking advantage of good three-point shooters and instead letting non-shooters take shots that they can't make with regularity? Beating down players so that they don't even want to play?

OK. So you choose to believe that a career winner, who's made the playoff's in all but one of his 26 seasons of coaching is to blame, when a group of players, who have lost way more often than they have won, can't win games. You back this up by bringing up racism (a clear sign that you have no support for your argument). You are a sensitive emotional, tender type. You are the prototype Knickerbocker. You would fit in well with this team. They have more excuses than combined playoff wins.
Well, now that you put it that way....it seems so obvious..lol

Brown's system is EVIL GENIUS. None of us common folk are even meant to understand.

Break 'em down and then build them up. Teamwork, hustle, defense, sacrifice. Kind of like back in the 70's.

I think Brown has some ulterior motives going on here.

#1 - He doesnt like Steph or want him on this team, now we have Francis so Steph can be shown the door.
#2 - Maybe he doesnt want Zeke here, so he is tanking to get him cut (I dont respect that if its true).
#3 - He is trying to show that he is the boss to these players - most of whom have shown they are immature and lack leadership qualities as well as basketball fundamentals.

Who knows what else is going on in his head. As Martin said - the guy is some kind of Evil Genious. He has a plan, he has calculated it, and now he is orchestrating it to perfection (at least we can only hope, because if the guy has lost it and he has just scarred the entire Knick roster then we are in for a loooooooooooooong recovery).

Finally, I think this whole "breaking them down and building them back up" stuff is just an excuse - Larry at his core - is a drama queen. He loved having fights with AI, so what did he do when he had harmony with Detroit? He looked for the most dysfunctional setup he could find.

Welcome to NYK LB.

Let's start by saying that in order for you to see Larry's system the have to... well, uh... um, er... EFFECTIVELY RUN THE F@#$&N' PLAYS!!! In fact, if you really want to see Larry's system, watch San Antonio. Don't believe it's the same system? Think again. Pops is an LB disciple. LB even said after the San Antonio game that timeouts were very interesting because they were running the same plays. Now imagine this, we're running the same plays as them, we have almost identical playbooks, yet - WE STILL COULDN'T STOP THEM!!! How bad do you have to be to have trouble keeping a team under 70% shooting if you can predict their exact movements. All it would have taken was thought and effort. If our guys weren't spineless babies they would have fought the Spurs hard instead of giving up in the 3rd quarter. Don't pretend that LB is the sole reason this team is bad. Night in, night out this team shows it's lack of character when it folds instantly after our opponents put on a solid run. Does Larry have to coach resiliency too?

Here's some people's solution: fire Larry. Let's undermine the team's authority figure and bend over backwards because this squad of infants can't take the criticism. Some of these guys are gonna figure it out and bounce back - those are the ones we keep. Some of these guys will never get it - those guys will be eating chicken nuggets before games on some other team. You don't want a team composed of quitters. It doesn't matter how hard the going gets - this is basketball. These guys are pros, they should be able to withstand the rigors. Furthermore, they should cherish the opportunity to redeem their careers under a HOF coach. If any of these players are defective, it's because they have been babied too much in the past. The only remedy: turn them into men the hard way.

As far as all the ulterior motive theories. I can't say if I believe any of them. Though, I won't say that it's impossible. To me, it's more plausible that the conspiracies are media driven. This is an entertainment town. I wouldn't doubt if some writers have sources who are nothing more than MSG spin doctors who try to keep the team in the papers by any means necessary. From MSG's perspective: the only thing worse than losing like we're losing is losing like we're losing and having no one care or talk about it.

LB should retire if he is so closed minded and refuses to adapt to his personnel. Even Parcells changed his defensive approach when he went to New England and became a team that threw 40 times a game with Bledsoe and took it all the way to the Super Bowl. LB can blame anyone he wants. It doesn't mean he has done a damn thing to better this team. And he hasn't. Ride off into the sunset already.

Did you just see what happened at the end of the 2nd quarter? The team started breaking plays. Not only did we commit turnovers or end up with bad shots - we gave up a run when our D reverted as well. That some people can't see this is baffling. And it's confirmation enough for me, that this debate is over. I will not involve myself in any more LB advocacy. Today's game is proof. The team has not been giving effort. Maybe as a fan, you feel like that's OK. But I sure as hell don't. And I don't care how mad they were at LB for his criticisms. People pay hardearned money and spend valuable time watching them and they dog it - INEXCUSABLE, UNJUSTIFIABLE.

I have a new word for people who defend our players at Larry's expense. You are all "battered wives", you take the abuse, but when the cops come to help you, you won't press charges. Sherriff Larry is the law. Whoever obeys will be part of success in NY. Whoever doesn't will be shipped out of town by Deputy Isiah.

With that said, I respectfully bow out of this debate. Back to your regularly scheduled eViL - it's back to 100% jokes. Eh, well - maybe 97%...

Keep Jackie Butler because he is blue collar

Eddy Curry because you need 3 centers

Qyntel Woods because he is just learning how to play

Steve Francis because he plays with fire

David Lee because he is blue collar

Channing Frye because his people are from White Plains

and Jalen Rose for comic relief
