If true, from an asset standpoint, and a salary consolidation standpoint, this is a great trade. In simple terms, Francis is an all-star who is tradeable either for cap space or, in a package, for a superstar. Obviously, this trade is only as good as the player/picks we get for Steve Francis in a subsequent trade - which, of course, is best made next year when the collective value of the team should be higher.

Sh-t in the popcorn to go with sh-t on the court. Its a theme show like Medieval times.

The CrawFizz fell flat!

Dude wore #11 in honor of Isiah! Ouch!

This is Eddies best friend, and Nates big brother.

This will not enhance chemistry and trust.

Don't worry about Craw becoming an allstar anytime soon.

Penny going home to Orlando! Man thats a beautiful thing!

i agree with that post....this trade is going to suck

this might be true

it won't suck as bad as marbury/jamal for the next 5yrs but it squashes any dreams of rebuilding with lottery picks and capspace. The only way to win now is go all out while Brown, Marbury & Francis are still at the top of their game

Battie expires after this year, Rose, Mo, Houston, and JYD all come off the books next year...and we still have two picks this year.

Francis turns 29 in about a week. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3325

funny thing is marbury and francis are born 1 day after each other in the same year--they will both be 29 next week

i guess this closes out the ole were rebuilding stuff --right now we have 2 29 YO max players and a 33 YO max player in the SL--weve become one of the older teams in the nBA with battie probably starting F

Battie expires after this year, Rose, Mo, Houston, and JYD all come off the books next year...

than we can use those contracts to add another 6-1 guard and play him at SF because we'll still be way over the cap

We would be alot closer in case we could trade Marbury at that time. The other option is to totally decimate the team right now and start from scratch and waste having a great coach for 5 years.

no we didn't briggs, AD was 4 years older than Jalen, marbs was always here, the only thing we lose in age is francis who is 4 years older than craw, other than that, this team still has Butler 20, Lee 22, frye22, curry 23, Q 25, nate 22, Woods 24. that gives us 5 guys 23 and under and 2 guys 25 and under for a total of 7 guys 25 and under, that is more than half the active roster.... We are no older or younger after this move. Losing ariza can easily be replaced with one of our two first round picks this year..

well its too late now but I wouldn't have mind having a team of Marbury, Francis, Gay, Oden, Sweetney, Lee, Nate

We could shave as much as $60mill from payroll in the summer of 2007 between the expiring contracts of Houston, Jalen, Mo, Shamdon, and JYD, even if we trade Penny for Francis. You might expect Isiah to deal the expirings of Jalen and/or Mo, but he can't trade the contracts of Houston, JYD, and Shamdon. Those 3 alone account for about $30mill coming off the cap. I don't expect Isiah's methodology to put us under the cap any time soon, but at least we'll be a lot closer to it-- maybe even under $100mill for the team.

Are the Knicks trying to set the record for most turnovers in a season? You have Marbury (2.85), Curry (2.79), Rose (3 per game for the Knicks) and you want to add Francis (3.41)?

we'll be at around $54mm after next year, no bad at all. but we would problably trade those expiring contracts for more 6ft outcasts

No, they're just desperate. They don't know how to build a winning team so they're going to keep doing trades to try to keep the fans interested.

If it does happen I believe LB would play Francis off the ball. Of course it could easily go the other way as well. Point is either Marbury OR Francis would be handling the ball less. They can't both handle the ball for the same amount of time that they did while on seperate teams. One playing off the ball cuts down on the potential turnovers from the stat u just provided.

We are not getting KMart. Where exactly do you think K-Mart would play if "Curry and Frye are the Franchise"...

I don't want Steve Francis here either. What a mess.

If we're getting Cato, his salary matches K-Mart's. I'd do Cato + SA 2006 #1 for K-Mart but I don't know if the Nuggets would do that. They'd probably want their pick back also. But I'd love to keep their pick if they trade K-Mart because wo/K-Mart that pick could be around #12.
