I don't do the deal if Frye is included.

I don't mean to be snide but.. Do you want to win a championship? If the answer is Yes then Garnett is the way to go. Believe me, I love Frye but KG is KG and he's going to be KG for another 7-8 years. Marbury/KG/Curry/Wally is a damn good team and Larry Brown is coaching to boot. New York will become Title Town.

Agree. Pick any player you want and put them on this team and we're still not guaranteed a championship. With KG we would have a 2-3 year window and who's to say we get to the Finals when we have to get past the Heat, Pistons, and Pacers and then go on to beat the Spurs or whoever. I don't want to gamble our future on a Marbury/KG reunion.

if we do this trade, not only are we basically giving away everything, but we are also giving away everything that would land us these picks.
Which trade allanfan? Tons of versions have been posted here. You would be sacrificing some youth, but it wouldn't be giving away everything if you did either of the two proposals I mentioned earlier.
Restated:

I'd start out with an offer of their pick of any (or all of) young players excluding Curry and Frye plus the 2 expiring contracts for KG and Wally.
If that doesn't work, I'd offer the 2 expiring contracts plus Frye and ZERO additional young players.

If you have an opportunity to get a player of KG's caliber, you go get him--- just make sure you keep enough tools to win. He's young enough to contribute for another 4 years at a high level.

You know whats so funny about us NY Knicks fans, its our passion for this team... but our propencity to be so fickle.

I can recall that prior to the draft there were alot of Frye haters on these boards; and how we posted the K.G. to NY threads like everyday. NOW, there is an opportunity to get KG, at least it seems to be. Yet we now have a large majority of people here that completely flip-flopped on Channing like he was the sure fire, can't miss pick of the draft. There seems to be alot more riders on the bandwagon ya dig. Whatever the case, If KG/Wally are to be had at the Expense of Frye and a fut 1st rd'r then I'll say it for the um'teenth time.. I'm wit it.

I like Channing Frye, I was one of the people from the gate that said he was a good pick by NY. I ain't know he was gonna be this potent, this early nonetheless I was feeling his game real early. That being said, I'd be the first to send him packing if Kevin Mchale said he wanted to put Garnett and Wally World too, in the Garden. WHY? Because we'd win a chip.. maybe not this year, but in th next couple fa' sho.

I want to be in position to win a championship every year over a ten year period. Frye can help do that, Garnett can't. In addition, I don't think adding KG to this team minus Frye yields a championship.

I respect that. We're going to have to Agree to disagree here.

Let me ask you this though. Say a deal goes down tomorrow that goes AD/Penny/Frye/Nate for KG and Wally. You would be against it? Believe me, I'd love to get this trade done without Frye, I'd include Curry over him any day of the year but if trading Frye means getting KG then I gotta do it.

Rich, 10 yr period? c'mon we been wait'n 36 already.. neither Frye nor Garnett are capable of delivering that type of success. Why not just settle for ONE in the next couple, with the crazy ticker tape parade.. with a Spike Lee blow up balloon on the float.

I don't want KG over here The guy is almost 30 with suspected iffy knees... If we had to get him, trust me, we would be cutting our throats by unloading several of our youngsters along with some expiring contracts..

I personally believe it's not worth it!!! I rather take my chances on Lebron who is only 22 and has some upside.. That would be within the next yr or so..

Garnett does not perform in the clutch!! In his MVP yr, Lakers shut him down throughout the series.. 4 yrs old i would go for him but he's close to 30....

I say we live and die with the young knicks...

Look, the only reason Minny wants to move KG is for salary room in `06, doing anything other than giving them expiring contracts and taking back one other player, is incredibly poor use of leverage. You give them salaray relief and no more, DON'T help re-build them by giving them Frye, that's what the cap room is for.

it comes down to whether you finally want to witness a knicks championship, which is all i care about or do you want to stay mediocre with a nice player with tremendous offensive skills but flaws as well. Do you want to continue having Marbury as the go to guy, team leader? I don't. I'm sick of mediocrity. I want a championship! I want a parade! The biggest parade in New York City history! I want to laugh at the Nets!!!!

Just 4 the record, At 29 pushin 30 w/ a bum knee he is average'n
21 ppg 10 rebs and 5 dimes. I'll take that over 3/4ths the league right now! My dude, KG is an animal, we need that!

in all honesty, any trade for KG to ny needs to get at least 1 other team involved.

it has to be a 3 or 4 team trade where picks go to minny via the other teams and not us.

and that 3rd or 4th team would get wally so we don't take that 2nd contract.

we can always get youngsters. If we're going to be as bad as people think we're going to be with KG then we'll have a pick in the 15-20 range every year for Isiah to work his magic. My point is you can replace Frye. You can't replace KG! unless you truly rebuild and even then its a crapshoot

^I don't want Marbury as the team leader either, that's why we should trade him and continue building our team.

If Garnett guaranteed us a championship then it's a no brainer, but he doesn't.

I would be strongly against it for the reasons I stated. Adding those players to this team would merely make it a playoff tease, not a bona fide championship contender.

I think a top tier true PG is a bigger need than KG. That player would take this team further in the playoffs,, and would accelerate the development of the young players.
