Aging superstar, with gargantuan contract and aching knees...

seems like a perfect fit for the NY knicks!!!!

Garnett has aching knees? And he's aging? Since when did these factors occur?

This would be an absolute dream for all Knicks fans. Like Bobs said, I don't know how much truth there is to this rumor but if it is true then all we can do is hope that maybe it will go down.

[Edited by - nyk4ever on 08-24-2005 01:19 AM]

they don't want to have another Chris Webber situation in which they are playing a max contract for a guy whose knees might have issues, especially when its 20 million a season for the next four years.

That is news to me too but mentioned in the article. I like the trade. I really don't want Wally here and I am not giving up Frye, Ariza, Nate. I would like them take their pick between Sweetney or Lee. I mean we have to give up youth and future picks for 1 player and a half. Not like getting Shaq. I mean this is right up there with the Marbury deal the only diferrence is that KG was on a team that went to the conference final two years ago but was awful last year. KG and Marbury didn't light up things before either. LB should help but ... it looks nice on paper, though. Really robbing Peter to pay Paul.

put yourself in Minnesota's fans shoes. would you rather see Sweetney and the #30 overall pick in the draft or Frye and Nate Robinson? Minnesota is not settling on Sweetney and Lee. They're going to need a bigman in return as in Frye who they can at least sell as having potential since he's yet to play a game and possibly even Nate. I would hate to lose Nate so hopefully they'd settle for just Frye & trash

why would anyone be against trading for one of the top 5 players in the league? oh yeah, he's almost 30. never mind. ladies, i'll take those odds if it means we have as good a shot at a championship as any top tier team.

anyone who thinks the TWolves would trade away their superstar franchise player along w/Wally & Hassell for Tim Thomas, Maurice Taylor, Anfernee Hardaway and 2 pretty bad first round picks (since the Knicks would become instant Conference contenders after that trade was made) is either on crack or should be smoking it to wake up from their state of delerium.

it would take 1st round picks & young talent up the whazoo to make MIN even remotely consider trading a guy like KG...Chicago would seem to have the best chance since they have the talent to give up for him...Tim Thomas? Penny Hardaway? Mo Taylor? you guys are seriously on drugs.

what does being cheery or not have to do w/being delusional, as some of you apparently are if you think this trade has any shot in hell of happening.

Thanks TMS for being the only other one to point that out. I can't believe people are actually saying things like I won't do the deal if it involves Frye and Nate when its going to takes those 2 to make th deal happen if KG coming to NY is even slightly realistic. I agree the trade mentioned in the article is a joke and problably made up by the writer. It would never yield us KG! That trade is a joke

it would problably be TT, Taylor, Frye, Nate & the 2 immediate 1st RD picks which would be in the 20-30 range. I'm fine with a frontcourt of KG, JJ, Sweetney & Rose. Plus Frye might not even be as good as Sweetney as in 13pts, 9rbs in 32mins

You want Mchale to sell to the minn fans that they are losing one of the games best players and in return you are getting frye, who has potential and a draft pick? OK, you ask mchale to do that, yet IT, the ultimate salesman is still having a hard time selling frye to the fans in NY, especially the ones on this forum...

Good luck..

its a lot better than selling a 6-8 300LB Sweetney who can't stay on the court for 25mins as the chosen one to replace KG LOL

Rod, Frye or Sweetney both make no sense. The only way this happens as written in the article, is if KG wants out, Minny wants KG out and the only place he can be traded is NYC.

exactly. that is exactly what has to happen for us to get him but they would still want Frye over Sweetney

i agree that we should not be debating about this. lets say that kg is available. y'know that about at least 25 other teams would trade half of their roster to get him. you think phoenix won't trade amre in a heartbeat to get kg? you are out of your mind. you put kg on most rosters and they are instant contenders. imagine him in the east? bananas! people are talking about kg frustrated and punching teammates. uh, i recall a ceratain #23 in chicago during the 90's who did the same thing. he has six championship rings to show for it. plus marbury/ kg with brown as their coach? kg would arguably be the best player brown has ever coached ( i love iverson but please do not mention comparing him to kg). they woud do wonders for this team. lastly, people are complaining about his achyu knees and comparing it to mcdyess. listen, garnett rarely missed a game. he can play with pain if there is any. how about jermaine o'neal? he is a walking injury waiting to happen. he is, what 26- 27 and already has both back and knee problems. but we would not object in getting him instead of probably the top 5 best basketball talent in the past 5 years. a palyer that if there is a scouting report would say no known weaknesses.

now is the perfect time for kg to leave minny. kg should start making his demands to be traded and new york should be his first choice. superstars perfer a team with a wining record as choice to compete and contend, so knicks record as of lately is an automatic turn-off....right? nope. kg must consider the addition of larry brown, coney island's finest, h20, q, craw just to name a few coupled with a world class gm, and playing in the mecca to one of the biggest markets [if not the biggest] in bball.

look around, kobe in la, shaq in miami, lebron in cleveland, carter and kidd in nj. kg still in minny?

if kg is really serious to make a second statement, new york should be his only choice unless he plans to remain a sheep in wolves clothing
"Like they always say, New York is the Mecca of basketball,"I read that in Michael Jordan books my whole life and I played here in the Big East tournament, so it's always fun to play in the Mecca of basketball."---Rip Hamilton

For everyone saying Minny won't trade KG without a big name stud big man- have you ever been to Minneapolis?

Small market!

Cap Savings.

They start off the year badly, and McCrack will be rethinking his statement about not wanting anyone from the knicks roster

TT, Penny, Frye & Nate

I bet that would do it if the circumstances were right.

$30m in instant cap savings

Frye & Nate 'potential stars'

McHale can say people will call it the Frye trade and not the KG trade just like Phoenix did.

What exactly did we give up for Marbs talentwise?

Minny rebuilds & sucks next year, high draft pick and they can think they're in the running to get Yao or LeBron

And for the folks saying Amare can't play defense, did you watch the suns/spurs series? He did have his moments.
