don't worry, help is on the way... JB Cox is doing very well so far in AAA & Mark Melancon just had a very encouraging extended outing in middle relief at Trenton AA... between Edwar (who's also been pitching tremendously so far) & those 2 kids we should have some options to replace Joba in the setup role... hopefully 1 of those kids has that same closer's mentality & can get the job done in high pressure situations... the only time i wanna see LaTroy Hawkins pitching for the Yankees again is in mopup duty... Farns isn't suited for the 8th inning role either cuz he's way too inconsistent & gives up too many longballs.

I'm really interested in seeing what Cox and Melancon can do at this level. Edwar is pitching great so far. The commentators last night made a good point about how he's throwing a little bit harder this year which makes his devastating changeup even better. Humberto Sanchez is close to pitching again after Tommy John surgery but he's a guy who could make an impact next year. Same with Andrew Brackman.

the only deal i heard you oppose was not trading for Johan... u said the guy's made at least 13 horrible FA signings since he's been the GM... which ones were they? i gave u 3 moves that i killed when the guy made them & i'm not even the one killing him here, you are... anyone can note which moves haven't worked out & which ones have... it's not that hard to play armchair GM after the fact... i'm not trying to attack you here but when u come out with generic criticisms of a GM or player i think it's fair to ask which exact moves you didn't like & which ones you did... i think i've offered a bunch of moves that Cashman has made that has helped this franchise win ballgames, so you saying a small percentage of his trades & FA signings ever work out well for us just isn't true... he's not the perfect GM out there & he's made his share of mistakes just like any GM in baseball has, but to knock the guy for being an incompetent GM is going overboard.

I didn't say he was incompetent. I think he's below average at FA signings and trades but good at getting prospects for the farm system. (But one out of three isn't good enough.) He's made a lot of bad FA signings from Pavano to Clemens last year. I'm on vacation and I don't have time to go through the whole list. If you put a list of all his FA signings, I'll write which ones I think worked and which didn't.

Wouldn't you agree with our offense in tack the whole time, we would at least have six more wins up? I would call that neck-n-neck.

So if you wipe out all our injuries but none of Boston's, we'd be neck and neck. That's hardly a fair comparison
