Starks is my favorite player ever growing up. Deuce is my favorite Knick player since his draft class.

But THE DUNK is a hall of fame dunk in Knicks history. Probably the top dunk. I can’t disrespect what Starks did but deuce dunk is………(Starks like).

So maybe I just talked my way back into agreeing with you? 🤷‍♂️

Eitherway GREAT DUNK. Love me some deuce. Easy underdog type player to root for. I always hoped he would improve his PG skills but maybe his best skill is 3&D spark plug. Like the microwave (Venny)

Deuce was a bit disappointing last season. Nice to see him stepping up, I think he could give us that IQ 15ppg off the bench/starter occasionally. He can get to 30mpg.

So what is it going to cost to lock this kid up on his extension contract?

I feel the same but Grimes thinks he is a starter and wants big money. So the front office figured out he would never be a good fit once his rookie contract was done.

Yeah

I think there is a sense that the FO will try to figure out where they are comfortable extending a player, and if that player is out of that range, a trade will happen. But you will go to a team and place that could be beneficial for you.

I think that’s right

In a perfect world is grimes still a knick? Bogan salary enabled the Mikal trade.
He had the starting job. His window. He could not stick it. Did Thibs ruin him or elevate him?
Did he need more time to sort it out?
In a world where he is coached by brown, next to Jalen, is this a good combo?
We'll never know. Good kid. Hope he he finds his path.

Grimes can slot in as SG next to almost any PG and be a good fit. His defense also made him a natural choice to start with Brunson.

He's a plus defender so he should always have the ability to impact games even if he is not a primary option.

Whatever went wrong with Grimes here, he ended up with the yips and double pumping and hesitating when prior to that his decision making was fast and precise. It was all mental, because he is a very good player.

What happened between him and Thibs? Who knows, but what did happen on the court was at a certain point Thibs was parking Grimes in the corner for catch and shoot threes and he started to rot there. Anytime a player starts parking themselves like that it is up to the coach to get them reintegrated back into the offense with off the ball movement. Did Grimes park himself there or was it Thibs? Don't know, but it was when his game as a Knick went into regression.

He'd be great on this squad, but that time is gone, so good luck kid.

I'd have to think he'd get yanked by about any coach if he parked himself against the schematic. Thibs was a win now coach and demanded a sense of urgency with a quick hook. Some players responded well, some don't. Not like Thibs destroyed everyone.
Grimes had his window and was also vying for an extension at that time? Context of the team, the roster, and the money at that time.

He was traded after the OG trade which sent Quickly who also was looking to get paid. Knicks getting Brunson changed everything in many ways. Knicks won 50 games that year and if Jules had not gotten hurt could have made more noise in the playoffs. Instead we broke down and wore out. Still we exceeded expectations!!

Grimes has been so close to nailing down a long term deal. In detroit he became trade fodder and in Philly they keep drafting guards. Edgecome is the future and McCain could be as well with Maxey. Grimes is making 8mm this year and needs what many desire: LOng term security! Not just the money, but that roster spot to grow from. Maybe with that he loses "the yips"? He could be in that 15-20mil range?
