This trade scenario does not work contract wise. Minny would have to add another contract similar to Donyell to send to Tor to make this work.

You are right.

still very interesting......I would welcome a deal with any of those teams......Knicks need a shake up.

Timmy and Penny will be more valuable this summer? OK so why aren't they valuable now?

Crawford was a fluke. The Bulls have no clue what they have. They signed and traded Craw cuz they figured they can get Deng and Gordon and that Euro guy. They could of cared less who they got as long as they get to save some money. It just so happenes that Isiah had it.

Now look around the league.....who is gonna do the same this offseason?

just as an example.....Eddy Curry. How the heck do the Knicks get him? The Bulls don't have any long unwanted contracts.......

You guys want Dalembert......Philly doesn't have anybody overpaid besides Mckie but is Dalembert worth taking on Mckie?

Elton Brand is someone the Knicks might have a shot at and Webber......The Clippers now that they have Dunlevey SR. are supposed to be trying to win. Sactown would be the laughing stock if they trade Webber for NY trash.

Who else is out there fits the Knicks needs? The Knicks need a better option for the 3 and 4.

P.s. what's wrong with Jalen?

Why hasn't Big Dog been moved if ending salaries are so great?

Phili has a boatload of players signed forever on a team well below .500 in a terible division. Kevin Ollie, Kenny Thomas, McKie to name a few.

As for Penny/TT they are worth doo-doo right now. Nobody cares as they are on the books for next year. But look at how many teams are close to the cap in the $48-$52mm range.

Here's a PERFECT example. Next year Min is on the books for $46mm, and thats if they just let Spree walk. Thats a useless number. BUT, if TT/Penny were expiring this year you could offer them Penny and Houston's #2 for Wally and Ervin Johnson. Then they go into next season with a higher #1 from tankning and $10-$12mm in capspace to IMMEDIATLY retool the team. Remember, it doesnt have to just be a FA. When you have cap space you can trade a pick for a player and so on, but my guess is Eddie Curry would look pretty good next to KG.

There are so many teams in this situation. It happens EVERY year. Nobody cares about 2006-07 now, but if you can set youself up for a Pho like offseason NOW teams jump on that. The Hawks got NOTHING for Ratliff and Rahim. Every year it happens. Expiring deals rule at the deadline. They are overrated in the offseason.

I'd like this trade. I don't care about contracts. It's not my money; it's Dolan's. One thing you'll learn about me is that I don't mind spending other people's money!

Jalen's a good player. He instantly becomes our best player at the 2 or 3. Yes, he's better than Jamal right now even though Jamal has more upside. He'd actually also be our best backup PG.

was that a sarcastic post? you of all people are always harping about the value of expiring contracts.
Jalen Rose's contract expires just 1 season after Penny's does, and teams will give up more for Rose and his expiring contract than for Penny and his. In the meantime, we'd also get far better play out of Rose than out of Penny. I don't see why the Raptors would do this trade unless we gave them a draft pick or one of our young players

uh....you've seen Jalen play lately, right? He's either out there gunning or riding the pine sulking. If Toronto could ship him and save $16 million, they'd JUMP at it. This is why I'm so scared.

I mean, Jalen can fill it up, but so can Steph and Jamal. Eventually, we need to get a young, athletic wing player who can defend. I saw this young guy named Ariza somewhere (cant remember when)...he'd be the PERFECT small forward for the Knicks. I wonder if we could trade for him.

NYK needs to keep Tim, Penny, Moochie and Nazr around for the summer where Zeke can make his big move. Lots will change this summer. Curry OR Chandler (but not both) will be available. Stromile Swift will be unrestricted. Dalembert will be in play. Chris Wilcox OR Elton Brand will probably be available. The Knicks can probably make a move at the draft (moving their pick after drafting for another team) plus an expiring deal.

The only way I'd take Jalen is if Toronto threw in a pick OR Donyell for Kurt (donyell is actually a shotblocker).

how about TT + Kurt For Jalen & Donyell? or is IT simple too proud to trade TT? That works moneywise doesn't it?

i don't like that deal because we give up our best rebounder & not getting back a bigman that can solify our weak frontcourt...if we trade KT, it needs to be for a young bigman that has the potential to plug the C/PF position.
