I didn't see the first game with Jack Kayil, but these highlights are brutal:
https://open.substack.com/pub/shaxnba/p/summer-league-2026-jack-kayil-film Wow that shot from the logo with 8 secs left on the clock, WTF? (0:49 into the video) The rest of the time he's out of control, or shooting bad shots/airballs. Oof. I'm good stashing him. |

He's still a year away, but he looks more juiced up with upside than I saw in Dadiet when he came in as a rookie. |

Tyler Nickel is no mid-July mirage
https://www.postingandtoasting.com/knicks-analysis/87769/tyler-nickel-is-no-mid-july-mirage A good write-up. Some quotes: To fully understand Nickel’s value, we first have to understand that he is not just a guy standing in the corner looking to capitalize on a drive-and-kick. Instead, he is a pure movement shooter. Massive mechanical differences exist between a static spot-up shooter and someone who can sprint off a screen, catch the ball on the move, position himself correctly, and fire away. Nickel’s release demonstrates both quickness and confidence. Observing his off-ball sprinting brings back memories of a young Kyle Korver. Per the above observation, Nickel only needs half a second to set his feet and fire his shot with perfect form. Whenever he does this, the ball almost always goes in. Most of his misses during SL were late in the clock grenades when teammates dumped him the ball at the last second or slight aberrations where both feet were not planted exactly right. Everything I've observed with Nickel's shot is predicated on replicating the exact same footwork as he goes to release his shot. He is so tight in this form whenever both feet plant together tightly, that when he nails the foot plant he is almost automatic from deep. I did not see him miss once when his footwork was perfect. He is a well-oiled shooting machine. As he adjusts to the NBA game and nails that footwork plant before he shoots, he should be a 45-50% shooter from 3 point range and have the opportunity to vie for the best 3P% in the league. Ever since they traded away Donte DiVincenzo, the offense has lacked Nickel’s brand of defense-bending floor spacing. New York’s offense operates at a whole different level when a movement shooter is present and constantly exhausting his defender. Players of this ilk are of the high-gravity class. If Nickel sprints full speed around a screen, the defense panics. If two defenders address the perimeter to deny him the ball, massive driving lanes open up, and undoubled post-ups become available. Mike Brown’s system demands this kind of gravity to prevent the paint from clogging. Nickel fits the geometry of that system perfectly. I expect Nickel to get a regular contract, whether he gets one going into camp or is started on a two-way deal that gets converted later after the Knicks make some mid-season trades to adjust the roster. He's going to be too valuable not to bring into the playoffs. |

Good to know
Jack Kayil has performed well in Summer League, but will there be a roster spot for him next season on the Knicks? Tweet was deleted or there was problem with the URL: Official sponsor of the PURE KNICKS LOVE Program
