They don't need to negotiate anything with him cause they can only offer him 120%. Which is still the ~vet min. So I don't know what the convo and negotiation would be for 2 more years when he would get Bird Rights?

Like, they could work with Indiana to set up what THEY could offer Mo and then maybe the Knicks trade a second round pick to Pacers for a low cash offer and match Mo's offer at the same time?

I think we can offer more than 120% if we use an exception. and I hope if we are matching we can match anything but I'm not sure how that works, surprised a cap guru hasn't chimed in on it.

What a silly thing to say about Diawara.

His PER 36 Minutes Average is 14.8 points. That's how you frame the performance of someone whose minutes have been climbing only recently. Of course his PPG average for the season is low because he barely sniffed the court earlier in the season. If you want to keep calling us circle jerks at least get your act together with the stats putdowns.

Per 36 is assumptive and go easy Francis, I love the kid and hope he ia all you say he is.
Also I hope I am dead wrong about him getting signed away.
Fact is its a short sample and teams likley won't go big time on that quite yet.
That his minutes are limited speaks to a lot of things but you can't just stretch the minutes and assume he just fills the sheet at that level.

But that said, I feel confident he is a knick after this year unless he is used via a trade that also elevates the teams and its potential. I said he he was trending well. Im not debating what we are seeing. Im just not going going out of my mind because he is tall and is hitting at this level. If this can extrapolate he will be the steal of the century.
He still looks raw and his defense one on one is great, but he gets crossed up at times. ITs why his minutes are limited FOR NOW.

At the same time Josh looks like he is breaking down again. Be good if they can manage his time? His back? is it the finger?
Mo can play more and rest Josh?

This is interesting. I wasn’t sure about this rule. I’ll take your word for it.

Don't rely on me, I am trying to figure it out too.

I think a big portion of the maneuverability will be where the Knicks fall within the 1rst and 2nd aprons ranges, cause the rules would change. Like, if they release Mitch and Landry and GTA and trade their 2026 picks, they would be way below the second apron and could use the tax payer MLE to resign Mo, but that is not a realistic situation.

If they over the second apron, they can only use the 120% bump to resign Mo OR match an offer he gets from another team. Because of the Gilbert Arenas rule, another team can only off up to the non tax payer MLE ~$15M. I have no idea what happens if the Knicks trade for Giannis at the draft, which may trigger the second apron cap, and then Mo gets an $10m per offer that would put the Knicks OVER the 2nd apron? IDK

So the ORDER in which you extend guys and who the Knicks choose to trade or not trade will be a factor cause the Knicks are right at the second apron territory.

it's a perfect thing, he gets to develop slowly and learn good habits from winning veterans. and do so under the bright lights. Being handed playing time on losing teams and free reign isn't a good thing and leads to alot of bad habits. Knox was a prime example.

Thibs played the young guys that were actually...good...RJ, IQ, Grimes were all key pieces on winning teams and weren't much older than MO is now. and he helped bring Deuce along slowly and turn him into a helluva player. if Thibs didn't play someone, they turned out to not be so good.

and when he yanked the off the court, it was often criticized by fans but in the end coaches see something we don't.

Do we trust Mike Brown to do similar? I do.

WE often as fans look in hindsight and then comment. Coaches have to make the choices in real time without the benifit of hindsight.
Same with the FO when it comes to contracts.

What is interesting with Mo is he benefits form being surrounded by a good mature team. Put him on a younger team with other yoot and perhaps his trajectory changes. Some younger teams with cap space might take a flier on him but does that serve his career well longer term? Sometimes thats a scenario that can matter. I don't know his family situation or need for money there.
But Leon does. Hope for the best. NOt just as a fan, but for him and his situation. If it aligns with our objectives, so much the better!
