No. You should start one as a placeholder right now. Put up a fire Mike Brown thread while you're at it. Trust me, it will save some time for the upcoming season.

My only question is why is it taking so long?

Make sure to include some hilariously one-sided trade suggestions too.

And some Sweeney pics.

In the playoffs Payne could get 3 fouls in no time and that kills his rhythm and other things.
It's good Kolek has fans, but we speak of him with such reverence as one who can rise to an important role. True as it might be, I can see him released also if this team in "Win now" mode has an opportunity to make a move on a vet.
Im guessing he has a window but he must use it.

I dont want to see a Dillon Brooks level of thuggery by the Knicks. But this team does need a chip on its shoulder, and players like Clarkson will help. Thought that was apparent in the Pacers series.

I'm probably in the large minority here but I enjoy watching Clarkson play.

I love how he's always attacking and I like that he both gets into the paint and scores in the paint.
I also like his passing ability but mostly I like that he plays with style, a swag and just how he attacks confidently.

Will some of his shots and decisions give me concern? Sure but I think this is exactly the type of player we needed off bench.

I think this was the Knicks biggest weakness over the past year, they didn't have enough ball handlers who could both space and be downhill guys that could collapse defenses. OG, Mikal, Deuce, Hart, Cam, Shamet were [mostly] either one or the other, and Clarkson and Yabu give you a better balance there.

Knicks really upgraded their roster to that end. Gotta make it work but those guys do address some weaknesses.

Knicks seem to have a full 9 guy rotation that doesn't even include the young guns, so there is a lot of breathing room for that group. Hopefully they put pressure on the core guys.

From what I've heard on several podcasts, Clarkson's assist %/rate metrics were actually quite high, and he was really good at setting up corner 3's and other high efficiency shots. The metrics suggest he has underrated playmaking ability. The fact that he puts a lot of pressure on the defense and draws a lot of defenders I think puts him in a position to create good shots. This was on a bad/offensively challenged Utah team so imagine what he can do when mixed with some of our guys. I think on the offensive side of the ball, at least, its gonna work out really well. I expect his overall shooting% to improve based on getting better shot selection/having better teammates, though we'll have to see how he does on 3's where he's had up and down years shooting the ball.

Clarkson is a SG with PG tendencies? Or did he provide PG play off bench for Utah? I don't know him very well

In this last playoff run we really needed an enforcer. Someone like an Oakley or even someone to do what Sophie Cunningham did after Caitlin Clark was mauled all game.

This last playoff series was extremely frustrating with Pistons and Pacers manhandling Brunson all game long and no response. Back in the 90s we would put in a backup to get 6 HARD fouls to even things out. We had a giant Hukporti just sitting there when he could have easily backed up Brunson with some hard fouls of his own. We need to have players have pride and stand-up for the captain. In this regard, I hope Clarkson fills that void.

Think he is a classic combo guard, but he's the kind of player that operates with the ball in his hands, so whether he's the "PG" or not, he's gonna be bringing it up and dominate possession when he's on the floor by virtue of that type of role he plays. At the moment - it looks like Clarkson will be out there with Deuce a lot - neither is a true PG, but it may not matter since both can handle the ball and bring it up - but Clarkson is a playmaker - who can break down a defense and create for someone else, which Deuce is not.

He has very high usage rates which indicates when he is on the floor he's typically had the ball in his hands to either shoot or pass.

He's NOT close to a traditional PG but he's definitely able to see the floor and make most passes.

He's going to have the ball in his hands - a lot. Maybe it will be a bit less in a Brown system where he wants them playing FAST but Clarkson has always had the ball in his hands and I think he's going to be great for us (or at least very good).

Question I have is what is that last piece that Knicks are going to add (assuming no other trades)?

At times I think a guy like Payton Jr would be good, or a Brogdon, or a M Smart - I also like the idea of a forward who can handle/pass (Simmons or maybe a K Anderson if he gets bought out). C Anthony I don't like the height/length and not sure he defends or distributes much. Anthony can get hot though but he seems to duplicate Clarkson. At other times I want a shooter like a Coffey, Houston or a Shamet and at times I want a longer guy who can shoot like a Boucher.

Just read interesting blip over on REALGM and it came from Chat DBT.

Question was what Knick executive pushed hardest for Clarkson and answer said Walt Perrin was a very strong advocate.

Said Perrin as Jazz VP Player Personnel had closely scouted Clarkson dating back to the 2014 draft and played a key role in convincing NY's executive team to pursue Clarkson after his buyout.

It's possible (maybe) that Perrin was also a reason that Clarkson decided on NY vs other options.

If there is anyone on the Knicks exec team I trust it's 1) Perrin and 2) Aller

Who do you want with the last VET MIN deal Martin?

Give me 3 names you'd want.

Me personally I still want more ball handling and facilitating -- but shooting is always nice and D is also required. Tough decision.
