I think one of the reasons the Knicks decided to move Randle was so that they had maneuverability this offseason. Randle's contract situation would have handcuffed the Knicks severally.
Knicks can move KAT for any type of contract or contracts in the league, just got to match numbers is all and the Knicks have shown the league how to do that with the vet mins. From a top line 1-for-1 trade or any combo of players that add up.
They would not be able to do that with Randle+ whatever.
Knicks are pretty much set over the next 3-4 years on the cap situation with Jalen's contract, that was the real inflated cost of the Mikal trade IMHO, that was the tradeoff: Jalen contract for his good buddy Mikal, so that's why those first don't matter to the Knicks give or take. Even if they extend Mikal at ~$40M and do something with Mitch's contract range. Knicks should be under the second apron without problem, and that is key.
