Rostered or not, the culture prevails!
KAT playing in his second consecutive conf finals. This with Two teams!
He starred vs. Jokic last year.
This has to change his narrative some. Randle? to lessor extent but he never had the hype of a top pick in a draft!

With DDV in the conf. finals all 4 current NBA players from Jay Wrights championship team from that era are playing in Conf. finals.

Only reinforces that if we were healthy last year, we would have likely been champs. Firmly believe we would have destroyed Boston with Randle and Mitch healthy.

A lot of complaining about Tatumn and very little about their clear path last season because of injuries.

DDV was not with us in '23.

What you talking bout Willis? He signed July 2023. In time for the 23-24 season.

Yes, Toppin and DDV never played together.
So if Indy wins (they won't), you can say calendar year but not a season.

January Knicks SL all in the conf finals....Still only openly wonder if that was the best iteration of this team, but Hartenstein leaving no shot to ever re-capture that.

Yeah that’s what really ended it. There was no way the Dolan’s were giving Riley part ownership of MSG.

I think taking a franchise that had been really battered by 20 years of incompetent ownership and making it not only respectable but exceptional has to factor, along with the fact that I think today's game with outrageous salaries for marginal role players.

We got lucky getting Brunson, but every move has been great, or if it missed (like Kemba/EF) erased without too much damage.

Also - I should add- we have hit on some nice talent in late picks (IQ, MR, McBride, Grimes) and for as good as Checketts was, I don't recall him getting anything similar.

I think these are the picks you can credit/blame Checketts for. I think Weis should end any discussion of having Checketts in the discussion!

Donnell Harvey (↳DAL)
Lavor Postell
Frédéric Weis
J.R. Koch
DeMarco Johnson
Sean Marks (↳TOR)
John Thomas (↳BOS)
John Wallace
Walter McCarty
Dontae' Jones
Monty Williams
Charlie Ward
Hubert Davis
Greg Anthony

Rose has done a great job so far. This is his first season getting past the second round so let’s see what happens. Until the Knicks get to the Finals and/or win a championship Ernie Grunfeld still has to be considered the greatest Knicks GM ever the Knicks made the Finals twice with Grunfeld(if you count the 1999 team he built).

Knicks complicated ownership structure made it improbable that Riles could have been given ownership stake.
He like any could buy public traded shares. Riles made it impossible for Checkets then president of knicks to match any offer that Miami was giving and Pat was in a paranoid kind of a place with it all. Read Chris Herrings book and get the full back ground. Not Complimentary on his character behinds the scenes.

As for Earnie being the best? Thing is its kind of fuzzy as Checketts and Riley along with Earnie built that team. Not we are always quick label often based on results to praise or blame but so much goes on behind the headlines. Leon is the team president and he basically has two GM's currently in Aller and Rosas. They do different things. Leon is the boss so he gets the title.

Leon Rose is the best GM since Eddie Donovan. I don't know whose better because Eddie was before my time. I will say that's a really ****ing long time ago though so Rose is the best modern GM, no doubt.

Donovan deserves a lot of praise though. A lot of people consider the 1969-70 to be the best team (in the Larry Brown sense of the word). I think the 72 Knicks had the greatest starting backcourt of all time. I know a lot of the old timers consider the Dave DeBusschere trade to be the greatest trade in franchise history

So I mean Rose has done a fantastic job but let's see home championships and Hall of Fame busts before we start jerking everyone off

The Knicks technically replaced Toppin with Donte. Man I do miss having those bench guys. The depth was incredible. If the Knicks build that back up, this is very sustainable. But the original point of having former guys on all 4 teams as major contributors goes to show the winners this front office has built. Absolutely Amazing culture turnaround.
