Could you or Nalod help me understand how Cooper as a Dem was able to convince voters initially? Was it a reach across isle? Full party ticket? Just opportunity? Right ideas. What did it take to get there and then sustain?

I legit don’t know how states like Minny and NC flip and then further march left.

What has been their path?

Wish I had more insight but I don't - I'm a relatively new transplant here. But Trump won NC in 2016 and 2020 and it's pretty reliably red now beyond the Governorship. Sorta like Manchin in WV all those years. I always find that interesting.

All my friends rave about the breweries down in the triangle area? IDK but I'd love to visit

I live in the triangle, it's awesome here tbh. Great place to raise a family. 2 hours from the coast and 2 hours from the mountains. I've rekindled the love I had for the Tar Heels as a kid when Vince Carter was my favorite player. The college hoops scene is awesome with Duke-UNC-NC State all within 30 mins of me. Going to be fun with Cooper Flagg playing for Duke next year. This area is almost all transplants, the vast majority of people I meet are from NY, many from upstate. Barely any born-and-raised locals in my area of the triangle.

Be careful Martin, once you visit you might become a damn yankee like me - a New Yorker who comes to visit and stays. NC is a really great state. It is very similar to NY State except it stretches East/West instead of North South. We have tons of transplants where I live from Upstate and L.I. My historic little micropolitan town has more bars than restaurants. We even have our own little triangle we jokingly call the beermuda triangle and one of the best local live music scenes around. And unlike NY, everyone is friendly!

What seems to have changed is like everywhere extreme weather. And extreme politics. Always think about going back there though.

State has along history of "Dixiecrats". Jesse Helms was a Dem and then changed to GOP in 1970. State has a long history of Democratic Gov's. The rural counties lack diversity and thus vote very red. Its why we have some crazy stuff going on.

Just three GOP governors the last 100 years. Pat McRory was our last. Hew as former Mayor of Charlotte. He was a moderate and did not buy into the insane bathroom law debacle that cost the state a lot of business. Recall the NBA allotter game was removed because of it. He was not backed by the party for not being "right enough". Funny though we vote for Republican senators. the Rural vote comes out for them.

Right now Josh Stein, or current AG is running vs. Rep. lieutenant gov. Mark Robinson who is a black American but part of that bat **** crazy old times red baptist keep women home, minorities down, etc thing. Stein is Jewish and very personable. Im hoping he gets in as he is a good man and Robinson is nuts. Hard line on the abortion issues with little compromise. Quite frankly he is scary. Dude like this will kill attracting new business. Old rural folk don't like change.

Went to the Duke diet and fitness center a few times in the early 2000s. So I got to spend a few months in Durham. Once in the summer, and once in the winter. Helped me get back into shape. Lots of people went there every year like a spa. Big Pun went there, I was told a few years prior..Lost a lot of weight, but sadly didnt want to stay longer.

They f'ed up when they decided to move the place crosstown. Wasnt as nearly as nice, away from the old part of Durham, the old Duke campus. They lost most of their regulars, including a few celebrities. It doesnt really exist anymore. Was considered world class, now its a shell of what it used to be.

I really liked Durham, mix of the old south and the new. Got to watch out for those icy hills in winter though! Had summer tires lol.

I am curious about how the Vietnamese community settled in the area and if they brought all the Pho and Banh Mi recipes with them hopefully?

Can't speak regarding the Vietnamese pop but there are plenty of amazing Pho restaurants in the triangle.
