Players fall all the time but we’ve been real good at finding some gems early in the second round. I know we didn’t draft but I believe Brunson was also taken 34th overall or maybe 33

Kolek and Deuce bring different things. While both are pretty good scorers, Kolek is the better passer and Deuce the better defender. I hope we can keep them both.

I guess Mr Rokas won't be joining the team again?

Probably not this year. I doubt the Knicks carry more than 2 rookies on the active roster, and McCullar, Hukporti, and Toppin will all likely be the 2-way contracts for this upcoming season.

Oh, they really like this guy. I see the vision so I understand why they do.

I have no idea how to interpret moves like this, or the true intent, motives, or flexibility they provide.

Soon AI will be able to explain it all like we are 5 year olds. And also make NBA executives obsolete.

Like, is this to lock him in cheap… or will he be part of a trade in 3 days?

Potential future moves & impacts aside, it means he has current value before even stepping on the floor.

I have read nothing about him even coming to Summer league but keep an eye on the olympic qualifier in Puerto Rico. Lithuania is doing well and should make to Paris games. If so, He won't be summer league bound.
Sabonis is playing. Our old friend "Kuz" or Mindaugas Kuzminskas as he is known is rostered.
Why does Rokas play so little? HE played less than half the game. Basically Euro PG's don't always play big min. They are expected to go hard then sub out. Rokas in this tournament does not shoot much. His job is not to create for himself but find others.
Perhaps someone with more eurobasket knowledge can explain it. Im not excusing him. Sometimes when when a player is destined to go to the NBA, they don't play them as much. Sort of develop other players or go with vets that are on longer contracts. I said sometimes.
Can his game translate to the NBA and perhaps put up bigger numbers? Thats what we all want to know.

I hope Dadiet wasn't in the room nextdoor as the negotiated deals.

Dadiet's deal isn't bad after looking at more reports. He just deferred some money this season to help with the cap situation. He makes up what we he lost this season in later years.

Dadiet had a buyout? I do wonder if the 80% was because of that?

I think it was just to create some cap space this year. Years 2-4 jump up in salary, so ends up making what he normally would.
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10127188-knicks-rumors-1st-round-draft-pick-pacome-dadiet-to-sign-reduced-rookie-contract

The Knicks previously bought Dadiet out from his contract with his previous team, Ratiopharm Ulm of the Basketball Bundesliga in Germany, paving the way for his rookie deal, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

Per Katz, Dadiet will make 120 percent of the rookie scale from the second through fourth years on his contract. And according to SNY's Ian Begley, the Knicks paid $850,000 for the buyout.

So the Knicks aren't stashing Dadiet in Europe. He can conceivably play on the G-League's Westchester Knicks or perhaps get some run on the NBA roster this year

Yeah, they really wanted this guy. The backup PG is his if he is that distributor we saw on his highlights.

Didn't see that, thanks! FO seems to be excited for our rookies this year, which is very encouraging.

I don't want to get too excited, but this guy has a chance to be special player. On offense, he is solid, but I'm really interested in his defense. He's 6'3 200, so he won't be pushed around as a PG. His footwork is fantastic, and makes up for any lack of speed he may have. What really sticks out to me is his anticipation of passing lanes and his busy hands. He does that thing OG does so well, he sees where the ball is going to go next. He's going to get burned man to man at times, but he will by far make up for it on disruptions and steals off of passes. I also think he's got that dawg in him, and will need the refs to not call ticky tacky fouls, because he can grind. Veterans will look to exploit that in his first year, but with Thibs, OG and Mikal around, he's going to get taught the right places to be.

One thing I am happy is that we have a damn good front office. All of last season we complained about needing a backup playmaker guard. They never traded for one and the reason was probably the cap stuff we had to deal with this offseason. However, they also knew we needed one. They made sure to get one in the draft. They also did not wait around to see if he would drop to us. They traded up a few spots to make sure they got their man.

Looked at Kolek's highlights for the first time. Impressed with those assists in traffic. As others have pointed out, he looks like a better distributor than Deuce. Also better at getting to the rim.

If Kolek's D is good enough to keep Thibs from cringing, Deuce is going to have real competition for minutes. Maybe enough to make him a piece in a trade for a Center.

When I see stuff like this I wonder whether there were some discussions with him to avoid certain pre draft tryouts or the like with a wink wink deal that they would take him in second and make up the difference to some extent

My interpretation was that they wanted all 4 years on the 2nd round pick exception and had to pay every dollar to get it.

You know I gonna spin wit it

He’s not as quick as McConnell but he’s a good shooter and very good passer. His APG is high for college and it has been two years straight. Looks like a young Mark Price.
