One more draft and some cap room when you waive DJ and the Giants could be back to being a legitimate threat.
What quarterbacks were available that were actually an upgrade over Jones? Cousins coming off an Achilles? I like Penix but Nabers was definitely the right draft pick.
You can easily find a list of the top 5 quarterbacks in the 2025 draft. Google is your friend
It's not that simple. NFL has a hard cap. His contract guarantees him 1 more year. The only way you replace Jones this year is via the draft. To me, that is not an option. Nabers is way ahead of every QB available at 6. The only option is get him playmakers. Try to protect him and roll with him. They did this with Nabers and signing 3 FA linemen.
How many games do you think the Giants will win in 202425? It’s time to start looking at QB’s in the 2025 draft. It’s not hate it’s reality. The Giants need to draft a rookie QB. Some people believe that you need to fix the team and then draft the QB. I am in this camp and I think they are very close. We have good players in skill positions. The O line is close. We need an EDGE and CB
With DJ or Lock as our QB and our secondary as terrible as it is, we are going to lose a lot of games. We should get a high draft pick in the 2025 draft. We’ll have to wait and see if one of the QB’s is worth trading up for. Being a Tar Heels fan I already knew we should have traded up for Drake Maye but I’m not bent that we didn’t.
I am one of those Giant/Knick fans that think my team will win big in the upcoming season. I always predict my Knicks winning at least 55 games and my Giants going 17-0. I don't know what to tell you. I always set myself up for disappointment. Looking for a QB now? The front office is always looking for a potential QB replacement or for any position for that matter. That is their job. I guarantee you, the Chiefs are scouting all the QBs for next year. Football is a dangerous sport.
I do think it's hate and not reality. Reality is our current situation and it's not that bad. We signed Jones to basically a 2 year contract. While it was near the top in range when he signed it, it is now a middle of the pack contract for starting QBs. He got that contract because of that win in Minny in the playoffs. That's sports. Hey, remember Jerome James? Players that produce in the playoffs in their contract year gets paid the following year.
The line is considerably better this year. Any line will be better than last year. I don't think you can get worse than last year. Our WR room looks really good. Our RB room took a hit but I think Singletary, Gray and Tracy will do just fine. I am actually very excited with TE Theo Johnson. EDGE is fixed in paper. Burns and Thibodaux will go after the QB. The only missing part in the D Line is an interior mate for Big Sexy. Now our CBs, we got a problem. One of these young guys need to step up. Hopefully, Banks improves.
I think our weakest link right now are the CBs. Not worried about the QB. You protect him and he should be ok.
On a side note, Maye is put in the really bad situation. His line is terrible. He has no weapons. He plays for a defensive Head Coach. It's like Sam Darnold 2.0.
