No idea about that Patreon thing Alpha is referring to, but I saw that there's a Discord group going but it's not really Knicks related. I know you can create channels or something on Discord and could have a Knicks corner, but it's just not the same. It's like an old school chat-room as opposed to a proper forum with a rigid setup. Which is also why I dislike the Reddit interface, it's all over the place and I never felt comfortable in keeping up with any conversation there.
The official move is to some sister site which is mostly on sports betting, don't think that's the kind of crowd that hanged out at PSD Knicks forum.
This feels like a proper Knicks nest. I actually did sign up here back in the day but never used my account. When I tried to register the other day it said my email was already in use, but honestly I don't remember much about it. It's been almost 15 years!
Also, something that people who weren't there don't understand is that PSD was thriving in the late 2000s and early 2010s (when I first signed up) and there were fans of all teams, as well as your own Knicks corner, but I also had fun checking out the Lakers forums for example and the general NBA area. Safe to say that the PSD general NBA talk has had become a really annoying place to be in the last 5 or so years, with the same people arguing the same things (guilty of that myself, but it was fun poking at these semi-bots :D ) and activity had dwindled. When I first signed up, there was discussion all across the NBA team subforums. Now, you check the Spurs forum and their last post was in 2019 or something and unless you've been hit in the head during the lockdown periods, that's like 4 years away! The Bucks won the league recently but nothing picked up, if anything, activity was also less. I think it started going downhill since the mid-2010s. Perhaps the reason was banning users frequently and having relatively strict rules, but some of it was from members was pure flaming at points. I didn't mind it - coming from Greece it's a bit natural to talk **** and direct to randomers as if they're your best friend - but I get why the PSD guys wanted a different approach. It suffered from not gaining new members, losing activity from its existing core (I was relatively active, but on Knicks forum I was mostly reading as I wasn't able to catch most games live due to the timezone difference) and even mods got less interested, so they had to make some active people mods who weren't really cut for it and kept insulting members.
No idea how activity is on the NFL, MLB or NHL areas, but I can say that the New York sports teams subforums were the only thing that held PSD going in the last few years. Like the last Gaulish village from Asterix. And it's safe to say that aside from a select couple of members, the majority of Knicks posters didn't really go to the general NBA forum as much. I think myself, Ewing and maybe another poster here or there were relatively frequent posters there.
I love that there's a place here that holds a lot of Knicks fans and I think it's great news that this place is actually growing with a bunch of us coming over. Hopefully we all celebrate a championship together soon :)
