Would need more back. Hal and Mathurin would be off the table, I assume. Turner does do it for me. Who else could Indiana throw in? Nwora? Hield? Nothing on that roster gets me excited.

The 25 and 29 for Obi is not crazy. They get a starting young forward ready to step up and avg. high teens, and run with pace.
If they don’t feel that way about him they won’t do it.
Then Knicks take one of those picks, pair it with a protected future and move up to low lottery-mid level.
Brock Aller magic. This to take a specific player they hot for.
Then take the 29, turn it into 2 high second rounders.

Picks are currency. Those 2nds can be used in all kinds of ways going forward.
Just spitballing.

Right, same. #7 is not high enough. Top 2-3? Yes.

If the picks do a bigger deal then perhaps. But thats some convoluted **** to get into with a dozen or so “What ifs”.
Myradar is KAT, and Randle is a good fit next to Rudy.
Ayton if available I doubt suns want picks as they in “win now” mode. Have to think Ayton to Indy for turner and other goodies is front runner. Suns need depth. Suns want a rim runner we got a good one in Mitch. So many ways this could go.

But, Randle for picks I doubt works in our timeline.

I think fans in frustration are undervaluing Randle to some extend.

For me, I would hedge just a bit more. The FO went after Ivey HARD. For the right young player, the Knicks would definitely trade RJ or Randle, but you are right on it not being enough.

Not a Rumor but a hypothetical:

Lilliard got Portland feet to the fire to be competitive. Randle is All NBA all-star on a very good contract. Money aside, because Portland has space (they will want to use it on other things to accomplish) but what Can Knicks give them besides randle that can make them good.
Lillard, Randle, and Grant is a decent trio. They have shaden sharp (can also trade) to win now.
In the big scheme of things, the Knicks won 47 games which was seen as a stretch. Getting from 47 to 55 is harder than what they just did. If we can draft either scoot or Miller, and let Obi, Grimes, IQ and to be 23 year old RJ season one more year, does the trajectory set higher but take longer?

I Perhaps its takes more than Just randle for the 3, I totally get and EF blows the salary so he does not go in the move. But say one of Grimes or IQ, and a pick.

Im assuming conviction on Scoot or Miller is really high otherwise no go.
If Scoot, its the small guard thing, but he gets to work thru the ranks and if a star will eclipse JB.
Miller might be the next Durant???

Outside of a more than a 2 team deal, the only thing that seems to make sense starts and ends with Randle. And to move his salary it would have to include a S&T for Grant? Which wold also need to take place AFTER the draft.

That would have to be the baseline trade for it to make sense? That's my guess.

Randle can carry a team and be a focus of an offense for months on end. Lillard could save himself for most of the regular season while Randle and others did the heavy lifting during the season, something that Grant cannot do in the way Randle has?

Nurkic, Randle, Sharpe, Simons, Lillard. Lots of offense and not much defense.

Would Portland want Mitch type to help shore up the defense? Does Randle make sense?

The good news is the "trade Randle" talk doesn't involve attaching #1's and dumping him for Westbrook or Wall or maybe Maurice Cheeks like a year ago.

It's a good point. But could also possibly change by the middle of next season lol

I think even almost all "Randle Dislikers" understand you don't dump him for refried beans anymore. To me that was emblematic of their motivations - not based on reality or practicality but emotion. Okay way to be a fan I suppose but not how you effectively run an organization. Thankfully we currently have an FO that doesn't kow tow to the mob mentality.

That said, I am not completely opposed to turning Randle into assets that help the team now and moving forward. But what I see proposed mostly is highly unrealistic or still coming from a "dump" mindset. Again, fine for a fan board I guess. But let's see what happens. I highly doubt our all star with his favorable contract is moved unless it involved an Ainge like overpay demand. Which is not what I see proposed around here.

Seems like KAT talk is ramping up a bit. Feels like even if it’s not the perfect fit, it’s a guy who may end up here. I can’t see a Randle deal. It’s likely a combination of RJ, Toppin, Quickley, Fournier’s contract, and picks. So the rim protection would be light. But have to wonder if Knicks compensate with elite wing defense. Grimes, Hart, plus add an additional wing defender via FA or trade. Basically a big 3 of Brunson, KAT, and Randle, surrounded by elite defense.

The only way that makes trading for Kat makes sense is if the package included Randle. Imagine a starting line up of Kat, Randle, hart, Grimes and Jalen. The defense and rebounding will take a huge hit then the bench will suddenly be thin!

Im not really a fan of Kat to the knicks but if they really want to send Randle, fournier and a couple 1st. Maybe a starting lineup of

Mitch, Kat, RJ, Grimes and Jalen would be a better fit but we have seen a Kat and Gobert team up and it didn't work out well. Thats why i would rather explore a different start to trade for.

Im also this way if it were to happen. Randle goes.
one has to consider what Minny would want/need also. RJ and Ant? That a thing they seek?
For the 100th time, Randle is far from perfect but He is all NBA two of last three years. Is KAT?
Thus, Im not thinking Kat is that expensive if Jules is the primary trade piece.
I also don't see a line up were Mitch comes off the bench if Randle and Kat are starting.
I see Minny as a need to win now and Randle fits that. He might be a better fit than KAT? And that dude only played 29 games last season!!!!
Which is why I see them running it back one more year with him.
If OBI is to return he could see more small ball minutes if Mitch has to come out and KAT slides over to the 5, and backing him up at the 4.
If the above is logical, take it one more step and consider doe it help RJ? A Randleless world might unleash the rest of his potential.
On minny, Randle has a better 5 to work with then Mitch. Rudy might not be worth the plethora of picks they spend on him (unless they win more!!) but he is still a force and better offensively than Mitch.

Why would the rebounding take a huge hit if towns and hart replace Mitch and RJ in the starting lineup ? It would be better. Defense of course is another story.

From Daily Knicks:

Although the 32-year-old has remained fiercely loyal to Portland, the Trail Blazers’ moves this summer (or the lack thereof) could send Dame out the door. NBA insider Chris Haynes, who has a relationship with Dame, confirmed on Thursday that if Lillard were to be traded, Miami and Brooklyn would be the two teams at the top of his list.

Good. First not sure how he fits and I don't want to give up that package for an older player. Second, GREAT! That means when they don't get him, we don't have to hear how the Knicks failed and LOL, Knicks! because some random reporter suggested that the Knicks were front runners for him.

Love Dame. Think he is and has been one of the best players in NBA for years. Think he would have won a few chips if not for loyalty to Portland. Don't see Portland trading him. Best option for them is to try to add a star to go with Simmons, Nurkic and Resign Grant. Issue will be maneuvering that. They do have a top pick but will need to add other assets. Simmons is more interesting to me as he may be the only asset that would get a team to trade a star. But he is so good and young. Big risk for them to give him up.

Funny how Miami is always able to pull **** like this off.

The way I look at the roster may be weird.

The bolded are my building blocks today. That's not to say they cannot be moved, but I need another building block and it has to be "better" than what I have to make a move. Chances are that moving a building block sets us back a year while the team re-sets.

The [Brackets] are my core rotation. They are more moveable, but still need a [Core] rotation piece back or another building block that fits with the first two.

The underlined are my role players that are really just not replaceable at this time. Dollar for dollar, I don't think you can replace the Harts. I'd be more likely to move them into the starting lineup than move them in a trade.

Brunson/[IQ]
[Grimes]/Hart
[Barrett]/______
Randle/[Toppin]
[Robinson]/Hart

Now, we don't have any [superstars]. And I am not willing to start over to get a single superstar. And I shouldn't have to give up draft picks to play in the Building Block, [Core Player] or Role Player, I think you can maneuver these guys and continue to collect assets and grow as a team. Value add approach to deals. Like we have been doing.

If an offseason landed Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby and Deandre Ayton without losing Brunson, Randle and Hart x2, I'd be ecstatic with that 7-man. I'd be happy letting the Knicks find sleepers to fill in the rotation after that. I don't have to make these moves, but it matches the archtype team I think could win a championship.

You know I gonna spin wit it
