Dont see the trainwreck that some of you see. Dont believe that Brunson/Randle/Barrett is a good fit chemistrywise. RJ still needs work on his decision making, shot selection, but Im seeing progress. Slower than expected yes. But he's getting there.
No one is untradeable, but I dont want a deal involving RJ if its a lateral move. Has to be a clear upgrade from a deal.
We shouldn’t be wasting time with 4th year players that still need to make more of an effort to involve their teammates- we already have 1 in Randle and he is far more talented vs RJ.
We already see the player profile we want Brunson, both Harts, IQ, Grimes, Duece — all these cats play the right way are leaders by example and don’t need to work on their unselfishness.
Stop wasting time with limited skill RJ who thinks he’s the Mamba and deserves shots - F off with that mentality.
How old was Randle when he broke out?
Brunson?
I understand this Nalod — my overall point on RJ is he doesn’t have the skill required to make those jumps.
He’s a slow robot with a sketch handle & no touch.
What was he the other night 9-11 inside 5 and 0-14 outside 5 feet?
there's nothing to understand. Randle/Brunson had clear progression in stats, skills, literally everything. Go look at their career stats and its incredibly easy to see Randle/Brunson getting better every year. RJ has not gotten better. It's that simple man. Next man up.
Papabear SaysCould all this stardom is going through RJ's head. Something is wrong and RJ better stay in the gym instead of the streets. We will find out sooner than later. The New York streets will eat you up and spit you out.something is wrong with RJ and what about this unknown sickness that they wont talk about. I don't think that RJ is that bad of a player when his head is on right but right now RJ has some issues that we don't know about.
What are you reading about that indicates an ego issue?
I have read about Jah Morant, but nothing about RJ.
From what I recall when Kobe died he asked to stop being called "maple Mamba".
If anything, IM seeing a kid pressing as he is not performing to his new contract from the outside.
Since "Beat" reporters are a thing of the past we don't get much about players and what they are like outside.
He has s strong work ethic as a reputation and seems to finish games stronger than starting.
I have no idea what FO thinks and if he would be traded or not based on their parameters.
Fans seem to magnify is foibles then emphisize what he is doing better. He is under a fan microscope in part due to the rise of Grimes and IQ.
Is that fair? Depends on the fan I suppose. Lets hope he can tighten up his efficiency and be all we hoped he can.
Dude, what is fair about a guy getting minutes when other people are more effective at his job? That's fair?
Why? Because he was the 3rd pick? Or because he's only 22, as you have to keep reminding us?
BTW, no one is saying throw him in the trash heap. I hear people asking to make a lateral trade for a better fit.
I personally would (for now) be satisfied if he got a few fewer minutes, got reined in to do what he does well, stop pounding the ball, and not shoot more than 3 3-ptrs per game until he feels more comfortable with it. Don't make the rest of the team have to pick up the slack.
He avg's 20 pts a game. Deserve minutes? This is not rec league, its pro.
I agree about the 3's. The nine he donuted was him going wild? or his coaches telling him to go out and see if you can find the rhythm.
We have seen him cut down on them over the last few weeks.
Pick up the slack? I don't see him as a detriment. Usually if he does not hit he stops and goes to the rim.
HIs minutes are down and if he not doing **** Thibs finishes with Hart and IQ or Grimes.
So in a way he is being "accountable".
I suspect this occurs during the upcoming series with Cavs.
That's an incredibly inefficient 20 points per game. Randall fixed a bit of his efficiency. Barrett has not. He's under the fan microscope because he is getting 34 minutes a game not because of IQ or Grimes. He's shooting inefficiently with volume. That's not a microscope, its broadcast television. Nobody's beating up McBride's bad shooting right now. Fournier's poor shooting isn't the topic of much conversation. Barrett has a subpar shooting stroke for starting SFs in the league.
But yeah, if IQ has a .537 eFG on 11 shots a game, maybe he should take more shots. If we have Grimes taking 8 shots a game with a .599 eFG and Barrett taking 16 shots a game with a .485 eFG, I do think its fair to ask whether Grimes maybe moves up in the pecking order.
I think the hope is that 22 year old Barrett emulates his Canadian peer, Andrew Wiggins. Their stats look similar. But it took Wiggins a switch to GS to get that efficiency boost. Game's not over for Barrett, but he needs to get that efficiency up. I don't advocate selling low, but something has to change.
