It's funny, I think Obi got pulled cause he didn't shoot it enough. He had a WIDE open 3 from ball movement and instead of shooting passed to an equally wide open IQ for corner 3.
It's a generous pass but that's exactly when Obi was pulled. Obi, best 3 pt shooter on team, passed an open shot to a struggle 3pt shooter. It's a basketball decision you have to be able to make in real time.
Obi is still operating like the can't shoot player. This is instinct and will take time to break. It is like if an overweight person suddenly loses weight and looks hot. It will take time for them to break how they viewed themselves before and to build self-esteem. In Obi's case you do that from playing time and drilling into him to shoot that shot. So pulling him is stunting the maturation of his game.
Since we are on the topic of pulling players for bad basketball plays why he never pulls Randle? That play where the Thunder doubled him from the start. A good basketball play would be to move the ball so it finds the open man. Randle ISO's between the 2 defenders and jump passes the ball when he finally figures out he can do nothing with it. The pass goes directly to the a 3rd defender. How about when JB was open for a 3 right next to Randle. Randle took too long to notice the guy right next to him was open. Once he noticed it the defender had enough time to close the distance and we turned the ball over. How come Randle does not come out for Obi when he messes up? All the punishments seems to be one way. That is not good for a lockeroom.
Literally, no he isn't. You just made up something that you can't substantiate cause something doesn't fit your point.
On a per minute basis, Obi is shooting the most 3s per game on the team. And he is 3rd overall in shots per minute for all players on team behind Rose and RJ.
In Obi's first year, he hesitated so much it was ridiculous. He has made himself into a confident shooter. Now he has to be a smarter decision maker on both ends.
What you and a ton of others are frustrated with is his short hook and lack of minutes. It's not unreasonable especially how much we all hate Randle and his play.
