Stop embarassing yourself:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/basketball/nba/news/1997/10/01/news.csmith.html

The 32-year-old Smith has played in as many as 80 games just once in a nine-year career. He missed 33 games in 1991-92 after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right knee, and was sidelined for 40 games in 1993-94 with cartilage damage in his left knee that also required surgery.

Embarassing myself? You have got to be kidding me.Defending Charles Smith tells me that you didnt watch him play.If you did and you are still defending him tells me that you are mentally challenged. You cant pin him being stuffed by Jordan and Pippen in 93'on his knee because that wasnt a factor then. There were countless times when he
had an iso and he did nothing because he was too scared.

I remember him actually spinning around his defender once and I almost had a heart attack. Please, you can pull all the stats out of your azz you want it wont change the fact that Smith came here and was a major disappointment.

You don't know the facts, and I'm mentally challenged? Do you know what the word fatuous means? If not, look it up, you will likely find your picture in the dictionary next to the word.

REBOUNDS

The Knicks remain interested in acquiring Chicago center Eddy Curry, but they have not offered Mike Sweetney to the Bulls, according to a person familiar with the negotiations. "Whatever happens, happens," said Sweetney, a second-year forward. "I've just got to do my job and keep working." .

I like Sweetney and all but I beleive this is a gamble we would have to make. PFs can be had easily than good Centers. I would do this trade...

New York trades: PG Moochie Norris (1.0 ppg, 0.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 6.7 minutes)
PF Mike Sweetney (9.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.1 apg in 20.3 minutes)
New York receives: Frank Williams (No games yet played in 2004/05)
SG Adrian Griffin (4.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.8 apg in 15.5 minutes)
C Eddy Curry (10.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 0.5 apg in 26.5 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +5.1 ppg, +5.1 rpg, and +0.5 apg.

Chicago trades: Frank Williams (No games yet played in 2004/05)
SG Adrian Griffin (4.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.8 apg in 15.5 minutes)
C Eddy Curry (10.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 0.5 apg in 26.5 minutes)
Chicago receives: PG Moochie Norris (1.0 ppg, 0.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 6.7 minutes)
PF Mike Sweetney (9.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.1 apg in 20.3 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -5.1 ppg, -5.1 rpg, and -0.5 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Maybe add the 2nd round pick we got from Houston from JVG.

CHI has no need for TT...they have 2 young SF's who are playing better than he is & they don't make alot of $...it's going to take Sweetney to get Curry guys...otherwise CHI has no reason to make the trade

Actually, they can use him. TT was a SF/PF with the Bucks, and he may be pretty effective as a PF in the East. ChiTown can use a lineup of

Chandler/Nazr
TT/Othella
Nocioni/Deng
Gordon/Piatkowski
Hinrich/Duhon

Knicks would have
Curry/Davis/Baker*
KT/Sweets/Jerome^
Penny/Ariza
Crawford/Allan/Griffin
Marbury/Williams/Moochie

*=Honestly, I would still go out and sign Haislip and use him.
^=Jerome can also play the 3.

I love these retro threads

It also may demonstrate, if the NY Daily News story is valid, how relentless Isiah was in pursuit of Curry.

Long live Zeke!

Although some are starting to change their tune right now, I'm going to say what I have been saying all along. If you can get Curry for Sweets, you do it. I love Sweetney as much as anyone, however, I just do not think he can be a star in this league. He will be a good contributer for any team, but he just doesn't have the upside that Eddy has. We need a Center bad, if you get Eddy, you basically have the Center position locked up for awhile if he continues to improve. Then with the expiring contracts we will have next season, we should be able to deal for a young and athletic shotblocking PF (Swift would be perfect). Like Briggs said, it could be too late now (I wished we had shown interest in trading Sweets for Curry earlier when Curry's value was a lot lower). However, the opportunity is still there.

Cough Cough, this guy is smart

Curry would not be about this year. He is a 21 year old kid. The bulls have to decide about his future. This is why drafting high school kids and asking them to perform right away is a joke. This kid is no Lebron, and it takes years for boys to become mentally tough. The NBA is a high pressure business. Isiah with Trevor and curry might do well because he likes to mentor the youngins.

I like sweets alot, but if his value can bring about Curry, and his potential, then its a risk I would be willing to make. Can Chandler handle center for the bulls? Vin can play some backup PF for us when thomas needs a rest.

But this is not about his "STATS" or what he can bring this year.

I said over a year ago IF we ever make a run it would not be about the players on the roster back then, and this is another example.

Curry along side Kurt would be nice for now. Curry needs veteran leadership in his face, and be in a player environment. I hate to lose Sweets.

We would have to draft a PF, and in the short term hope TT can shake his "GAZE" until his contract is done and Ariza is ready.

Of course at this rate, Ariza would last 3 years with the knicks!

Nalod, you have been ont he money, I have been having this argument on realgm, guys who know nothing about basketball, will go look at the stats on NBA.com and say man curry had just 4 points and 1 rebound, man he sucks.. But these are the same guys who didn't watch the game and see how he took adonyle foyle on the blocks overpowered him and went up right over him, and foyle is no slouch, they don't see his agility, or touch around the hoop, they don't look at his surroundings and how the guys don't properly feed the post or wait until the shot clock runs down to dump the ball into chandler or curry to make a miracle shot in the post. I saw all of this over the past few bulls games.... And worst yet, they sit and compare numbers of guys like Hakeem when they were rookies to guys like curry's, that is just assinine!!

I am willing to take a shot with this talent, I know he has a ways to go, but the reward can be so great...

hahaha, this TKF fella sounds pretty smart.... LOL!!!!!

I don't make posters, I just make them smarter!

Interesting reads from last year. Of course, Its not just Eddie for sweets straight up.

I think Having Mo T. enabled us to trade KT, Sweets, and draft Frye. It always shakes out differently than you expect, but IN the event Fry was gone in the draft, we needed a forward with experience. Mo T made Sweets expendable. IN a good situation, Mo T is not needed. Rose also became a necessary part but he was about the draft picks more than his contribution.

The Mo. T thing was never a problem to me. This roster creation thing is like a chess game. You make moves and postion your men in anticipation of sacrifice, but also having them in place before you need them there so you can move on a position of strength. THus reaction to short term moves is a futile exercise.

On thing not in this masterplan was Larry shaking free.

I continue to be focused not on the short term, but where we are in two years from now.

ONe thing we must recognize is that even Kobe needed a few years to get seasoned to be involved in a deep playoff run. ANd he had shaq and Phil to help him on. High school kids are great players, but not too many have been labled "winners" quite yet. Lebron will be the one, but he is still raw in many ways.

The knicks can't take 19 year olds and expect to win right away with them.
