MS wrote:They didnt boo last years team because they brought it every night. Oh really? That's funny. Because last year the Knicks were two games below .500 @ only 25-27 overall (after 52 games). Last year's team was not better than this years team (39 games in) so as a fan base we shouldn't pretend that they were. |

I only called the one's @ MSG and Yankee Stadium who had the nerve to boo Patrick Ewing/Derek Jeter/Julius Randle as being SCUMBAGS. But never once have I called anyone here on UK a Scumbag. Not ever. |

This whole discussion boils down to the double edged sword of celebrity.
People want to be "famous" with all the advantages and trappings that that brings you. However, that is a blessing and a curse that brings along with it scrutiny of every living person that can pick up a sports page, or a national enquirer. I imagine no one thinks about it that, hey, if I do make it into the NBA (or MLB or Hollywood, or make a platinum record) everyone is going to be up in my business all the time. But that's part of the price of making tens of millions of dollars every year. If your fans didn't care, they wouldn't be paying the people that pay you. It's just plain facts. It would be better if people weren't so harsh, but they are. They should have a disclosure that you need to sign before getting into the entertainment business. Then celebrities couldn't say they weren't warned. I, for one, prefer to be anonymous. Though, in retrospect, I risked becoming famous when I beat Fishy in the Race of the Century on 33rd Street. CLose call. |

I really thought Julius took a step forward last year... I really bout what he said in the Players' Tribune. Seems like a step back from whatever he was selling then

Should we cheer Randle despite all the subpar play this season? I guess if he were under 12 I would because he's still developing as a child. But he wants to be the man/leader so I think it's fair to treat him like a grown man. Nothing distasteful of course - but he (and any other player) can be booed if he/they plays lousy. The flip side is at any profession you are judged on your performance. If I suck at my job my boss won't bring me flowers - he may reprimand me. Just because pro athletes are paid so highly doesn't mean they should be subjected to anything extreme as a trade off - but yeah - people can boo unless Randle would like to sit down with the MSG crowd and listen to their polite feedback...

NY "fans" booed Derek Jeter and Patrick Ewing. It's disgusting. ☆ 1st in minutes played (1,312). The Knicks went 0-2 without Julius Randle and wouldn't even have not even 5 wins without Julius Randle this year. To boo Julius Randle was disgusting. What was awesome, was that after he gave the thumbs down? While @ the FT line? His true supporters and real MSG faithful began to chant MVP MVP MVP for him. |

I like Julius Randle a lot, but everyone gets booed in New York. Every big time player has felt it without exception. And let's be real, Julius Randle has not played well and has been a turnover machine down the stretch of games all year. He is pressing. This thumbs down routine would have gone over much worse after he missed that free throw down the stretch if Barrett didn't make that bank.
I am supportive of Randle and I think he will start knocking down his 3s at some point, but the guy needs to come out agressive and energetic at the start of games so we don't get caught our like last night. He is versatile enough to do more when his outside shot is not falling. |

Julius is clearly too sensitive to play in NY. I don't see this ending well, especially if they continue to lose more than win.

Pretty much everyone. Maybe it’s time to consider whether being so obnoxious to players is worth it? |

If he strings together a few more good performances the MVP chants will start up again and all will be forgiven.

jaydh wrote:Julius is clearly too sensitive to play in NY. I don't see this ending well, especially if they continue to lose more than win. Too sensitive to play in NY? Was he too sensitive to play in NY last year as he did something that no NBA player has ever done since dating back to Larry Birds MVP season of 1986, NBAs Most Improved Player, an All-Star selection, an All-NBA team selection etc while also carrying NYC basketball on his back and into the playoffs for the first time since 2012-2013? Has he been too sensitive this year as he ranks #1 on the team in Minutes, Points, Rebounds, Assists and Defensive Win Share? Yes. Getting booed by a couple of fans in front of his son bothered him. And good. It shows me that he's human. And that he cares. But it was also awesome to see TRUE NYK fans as MSG's faithful come to his support and have his back while chanting MVP, MVP, MVP; after seeing how a handful of boo birds were attacking him. MSG had his back last night and he's going to get a ROARING ovation vs. San Antonio on Monday from MSGs true faithful. But what are you talking about? "If they continue to lose more than win"? Um. The Knicks are 0-2 without Julius Randle this year but yet above .500 this year (with him). |

I never boo players, but I'm sure fans have written him off for good now. When has the best player on a team told it's fans to stfu? Melo took a lot of abuse and never went there. |

Once MSGs true fan faithful noticed Julius Randle sticking up for himself vs. the disgusting boo birds? The thousands of fans who would never boo the likes of Ewing and Jeter began to stick up for him with their MVP chants. Monday vs. San Antonio MSG and NYC faithful is going to give him a standing ovation as a way of telling those disgusting boo birds to STFU. |

You just root for them to suck and lose and TANK so you can have fun on draft night rooting for your little ping pong balls. And fans have written him off for good? Who says, you? Because did you not watch the game last night or something? Because real NY fans and true MSG faithful started to scream MVP MVP MVP by the thousands in attendance. And that was after he gave the thumbs down to the disgusting boo birds. MSG faithful stuck up for Julius Randle last night with MVP chants. So what are you talking about? Did you not here his MVP chants in the 4th Q? |
