Patty Mills, good call. Talk about the right fit. He can play with anyone. Did you guys catch that article about Kyrie building wells in Baluchistan? I swear this guy gets it more than the State Department. I won't say anything bad about Kyrie, but Mills gives the Nets a solid rotation 1-9

My tin foil hat theory? Knicks approached San Antonio with a KP for Kawhi trade, San Antonio back channelled to KP if he would be a good fit, KP freaked because he wanted to be King of New York, and Kawhi went to Toronto. KP decided he couldn't trust the Knicks. The Morris deal was made mainly to screw over the Spurs and they refused to help the Knicks to trade up for Duarte this draft or put Randle on team USA. Makes for a good story.

Ball's defensive splits with Bledsoe on and off the floor are pretty eye opening. He goes from like 28th best defensive PG to the best PG WHILE taking on the most difficult defensive assignments on the floor.

Second, I am a huge believer in wingspan. Graham and Ball have essentially the same wingspan. I liked Ball - he has the bigger body which is still valuable and has started resembling a 3&D PG though his variance behind arc may support him being closer to the 34% shooter than the 40% we hope from 3&Ds. Graham has shown both a willingness (and necessity) to play offball with LaMelo and Frazier taking up rotation minutes. This skill set makes him a solid player next to Zion should they continue using Zion as a Point Forward. This is the same reason why I liked him for the Knicks with Randle being asked to handle the ball early in the half court set.

Pelicans were never going to commit the dollars to Ball that he got from the Bulls and they were able to fill a number of positions with that same salary. I think they will be actively bidding for the next disgruntled superstar with their handful of picks and other vet players -- looking to find the guy to put next to Zion.

I don't hate the Pel's offseason. It just looks like more of addition by subtraction to me.

Good work there. That's some crazy stuff. I really have been scratching my head on Bledsoe, last I remember he was one of the top defensive PGs in the league. I guess every one looks good playing next to Giannis.

Lots of pressure on the Pelicans and the NBA this season. If they mess it up and Zion starts clamoring for a trade, they might as well just sell the franchise. Losing CP, Davis, and Zion would be a kind of generational incompetence even beyond us Knicks fans.

I’m in the same boat. When bucks traded for jrue i criticized it saying they overpaid and Bledsoe was a very good but underrated defender

Man was I wrong multiple times over

Regarding Pelicans I think they’re clueless. But see above

We drafted 4 rookies and all four look like they can play at an NBA level. That is an amazing draft result. By next summer, we should have four young players with huge upside (IQ, Toppin, Grimes, and McBride). We will have three good young vets playing at an above average level (Randle, RJ, Mitch), we will have like four first round draft picks over the next two drafts, virtually all our contracts are easily tradeable, and we have two former all-stars at the PG spot. I don’t know that this team has been in any better situation in the last 15 years. Great job front office.

Think the Knicks will regret the Randle contract, as good as he was last year.

The rest of the moves were solid, although I do not understand why they were unable to get a star to sign with them. The Knicks made the playoffs and are a premium market. The team they have right now is solid, but a lower playoff seed in the East. You have cap, you have the ability to bring in a mega star. It just does not seem to ever happen for the Knicks.

They will be right in that mediocre spot, where they are neither bad enough to get a Zion like talent in the draft, nor good enough to beat the Nets, Bucks and get to a Finals and win a ring. Perhaps they can swing a trade for Dame.

Maybe because there weren't any free agent stars this summer...

i don't think so. we're gonna have much better 3-point shooting to convert on randle's passing. plus more guys who can get their own shot. and more ballhandlers so he won't have to overdo it.

You’re probably right except only difference is KP wanted to go to LA.

Exactly, Randle is going to look better with the lighter load. He may only score around 20 pgs a game going forward, but he should stay around 5 assists and the rebounding and FG% should remain about the same (3pt % May go down to about 38%).

Kawhi was still in Toronto for that season. Didn’t sign with LAC til after Porzy was a Mav.

Don't know if this was updated with the Boston 2nd round picks coming our way via Fournier Sign and Trade

It includes the new picks. Not a fan of this move.

The Charlotte 2nd in 2022 is worthless.

So, we are getting one 2nd round pick but giving our division rival a 17.1MM TPE rather than letting that salary cap loss expire on them. Strategically, this would have hurt the Celtics. The ability to exceed the salary cap is a strategic benefit.

Much of the benefit of taking Fournier from the Celtics was that it is a net loss to them -- they lose both the player and the salary cap that came with the player -- we have now subsidized that loss to the Celtics by giving them the right to acquire players with that exception -- exceeding the salary cap.

https://hoopshype.com/salaries/players/

So, when a player in the 17mm range becomes available before the trade deadline, Celts could potentially add that player without giving much else up. Maybe further draft consideration. I could see Steven Adams ending up on the Celtics in the short term. In my imaginary scenario, would the Knicks pass on a 2023 2nd rounder (and fifth pick in that draft) to keep Adams (or something like him) off the Celtics?

Doesn't make a lot of sense unless there is some other politics involved.

If it ends up being Adams, my guess is that there was a give/take to the Walker buyout.

And we might just keep “Presti” them into more picks perhaps until we cash them in a trade.
Success will not be a starphuch but the aggregate of small moves. That might result in a big fish but we are seeking that most players extend with current team. At some point you do a “Westbrook” type deal but you have to have other pieces in place.
Kemba has potential to be a huge move for for us. Most likely its not but we have to try **** like this.
Randle extended, DRose Stayed and Kemba came. Fournier had other money available. He came here. The culture thing is happening. Takes time. Takes small moves.
If RJ can emerge further we are getting more legit.
I’m not overly excited about our off season but I’m also an adult and recognize fundamentally there are things that could happen either way. We have this draft capital also.
I’m not dreaming on a savior.

Thanks. So it's the CHA 2022 2nd round protected 31-55 and which is the other pick?

I think you are right about this being strange. I don't get it either

They Have Enes………. They good!!!!
I think Memphis traded Valachunas for Adams but I doubt its for buy out purpose. He has a few yeas left on his deal.
Charlotte could not trade the picks if was not protected. We need to not think “Its strange” and equate it to knick incompetence. Brock is woke. PHil was asleep.
