Rich Clownman Dolan taking a time of rejoice and making depressing again...time is a flat circle...Why can't we be normal...instead of rumors of Jerry West or some other unrealistic choice, we get Rich Kleiman

Awesome!!!!
Best part is "arch nemesis"!!!!

Kleinman as per Berman would want to hire Mark Jax. At least he has coached before! LOL
Im not down with that. Never a dull moment!

Maybe Perry saw Dolan in the hallway, Dolan asked him how trade talks were going, Perry filled him in, told him how he didn't agree with Mills trade scenarios but can't overrule Mils because Mills is his boss. So maybe Dolan chose to fire the suit and trust the basketball man.

If so, i applaud the man for once.

first things first, yes Dolan can screw this up but firing Mills was a must. It was an actual predicate to any further improvement. He was the kiss of death, plus a back stabber.

(Now we just need a competent replacement)

The timing is odd, but not that much odder than what happened with the Jets where they let Macc spend/waste 90mill+ in Cap money and run the draft, only to fire him right after

My own sense is Mills was suggesting trades antithetical to whatever horse**** he told Dolan when they traded KP, or after they were humiliated this Summer. Also in the back of my mind i'm wondering what role Mills should have in any of this. He's the President, not the GM. GM is usually pushing roster, Pres is focused on cap and operations etc.

Perry is the next dead man walking. I suspect Dolan is letting the next president make the call on a new GM. No reason to dump a GM now. Maybe the new president wants Perry based on his drafting (e.g., second round has been commendable, and first is ok given the way other players have evolved too)

Our next good move is to return to being sellers, not buyers. WHo wants Morris (and any of the other rentals)???? let's make a deal, any deal for those guys

Not only will we collect more assets, we'll free up some playing time for the younger guys and hopefully suck enough to be in the running for a top pick which the next FO can hopefully use well

the idea that we had a FO desperate enough to try and squeak out a few more wins (so we end up 8+ in draft) is beyond absurd? For what, to make some older vets feel marginally better as they leave the franchise.

Clownman is a party planner who getS coffee for KD.
He is from New York.
Mark Jackson is from New York.
The Knicks play in MSG.
James Dolan plays in a band.
His son lifts a lot of weights.

Getting Ujiri and Webster would be like a front office transplant, lol. Be amazing if we were that lucky. To me the most impressive thing about Ujiri's run is how well they're playing this season without Leonard. Guessing negotiations will be mostly about autonomy. Dolan shells out tens of millions for mediocre players all the time. A big payday for one of the best performing execs in the league, shouldnt be an issue. Even if Dolan is still paying fired execs, coaches.

The idea of Mills negotiating deals at the deadline is horrifying. Perry was brought in with the idea that it would never happen again.

Yeah, who knows how many years of draft picks Mills had already agreed to.

Its a lovely thought. The maneuver makes sense in that if he really wants out they really don’t want a guy whose heart is not into it. They could either fire him, or hold him to his contract. NBA does not do what NCAA coaches do making guys buy out their contract. Toronto looks bad if they make a dick move and hold him back. This could be interesting. Knicks will have to up a pick to make it look good. Adam Silver will have a few conference calls on this one.

It would transform the franchise. It might be worth both of the Mavs picks to get that deal done.

NBA just lost a ton of real revenue with that China tweet or whatever it was by Morey, another possible way to boost entire league is to finally help boost Knicks? Hopefully Adam sees that and promises Toronto something down the line ala Zion to Pelicans

Agree, we would still have more 1st rounders.

Offer them compensation based on production. If Masai is a miracle worker Knicks should have a good record. So it would be a late 20s pick. I'd offer them this: Ujiri for a top 25 protected #1. After 3 years if not conveyed by then it converts to two 2nd rd picks.

Or the Dallas pick. Do not trade this years pick. It might be a bad draft but a possible number 1 pick is still Maj, as Peter Rosenberg says.

You kidding me? We need to reward CAA with an ownership stake for that one.

Totally agree and that was my worry. Mills was too focused on trying to save the season when it was clear that the better move is to try to accumulate more assets and tank for the draft. This draft is weak at every position other than the one we need. there are three very good looking point guards and if we can stay in the top 5, we should be able to nab one of them and hopefully solve out pg problem.
