Was quick. Question why bring him in against a really tough team in tight situation. We were down 5. Payton was playing well and even though Frank could not hit a shot he looked to be penetrating and playing good D. May be best for both him amd the Knicks to play him in some meaningless minutes until he gets his timing back.

Probably a mandate or request from the FO to play him since the trade deadline is coming.

Wouldnt be surprised if Smith jr was traded for Monk. Guessing he's the kind of player Jordan would be interested in trading for, and DSJr is from North Carolina. Believe there is still plenty of time for DSJr to turn his career around, but Im having my doubts he can do it in NY. Playing near home has its pressures, but it might be what Smith needs to get his game back. Not crazy about trading for Monk, but Smith's value isnt exactly sky high right now.

Man. I haven't followed Monk at all. He is really that bad?

They seem to be ready to give up on him, so it must be bad. DSJr and Frank have limited value right now. Whoever we might trade with will probably be trying to deal the same kind of player. Underwhelming. Both teams hoping a change of scenery will help.

I hate and its so stupid. Frank and DSJ are 21. We stink. I get the whole make the 8th seed thing and thats fine but its back to play the kids and see what we got. You trade Elf, Marcus, Portis, Ellington, Dotson and Randle for literally any expiring garbage player attached to a 1st or 2nd rounder.

You keep Taj and Bullock because they are the only guys with good fundamentals on both sides off the ball.
PG Frank/DSR
SG RJ/Trier/Bullock
SF Knox/Iggy
PF Wooten
C Taj/Mitch

We are just past halfway. Enough time to let that group play through some mistakes and see what we got.

Edit: forget to add Reggie

My positive take aways:

Knicks actually had a game plan against the Lakers (minimize transition baskets) and it almost worked.

We were in the game even though Frank went 0-8 (or whatever), Randle played dumb (spinning into double teams etc.), no one played superstar (unlike Portis in that FIzz win against Bulls); no RJ

Our roster is awkward/broke, and we're just going to have a reboot again this offseason -- hopefully with at least a new president along with a bunch of players, and i wouldn't complain if the GM goes too

our assets IMO: Coach Miller, RJ, Mitch, KK, Frank (who i think is appreciated by Miller), Marcus (seems to like NY, though an odd fit going forward given his age and expectations), maybe DSJ as a flier (he was at least moving fast again).

I think either way would have been debated. it was nice to see him move forcefully -- wish some of those attempts paid off.

i suspect it was Miller's way of expressing confidence in DSJ. DSJ is going to need to toughen up mentally and play his way into a larger role. there is no team that wants to just hand him the keys to the offense at this point. Any team expressing interest is certainly hoping to buy cheap, because Knicks are known to be suckers and buy high (e.g., Randle) and sell low (KP)

Would see no logic in including Smith or Frank for a lateral move. If it was to get a proven star in return by including them, then you have to pull the trigger. But think your right, Smith will get the time to develop somewhere else and quickly go back to posting close to his first two year totals and will probably steadily improve. My biggest disappointment thus far is how bad his shooting mechanics have been. Have worked with lots of kids and its never good when they have a hitch. If the kid fixes it the sky is the limit. But that's a big if.
