there's no other choice but to move kidd right now. he's now on the downward side of his career. the nets are constantly losing money. they just invested in a younger player who they think is worth it and will be around for a while so now's the time to dump kidd for picks and young talent. if that's via a mediary trade, like for SAR, then they'll do it.

the only way i look at this is that it's better for us b/c that's another team we don't have to worry about in our division.

from portland's perspective, a lineup of:

kidd
miles
?
randolph
ratliff

is not too shabby. in fact, that may actually be better than the nets of the past 2 years. since both damon and van exel come off the books this year, they're looking at replacing that with kidd and randolph so it's a wash $$$'s wise.

Actually it would look something like this:
pg Mouse
sg D Anderson/Van Ex
sf Miles/Paterson
pf Zach
c Ratliff

Then you insert Kidd when he's healthy. Plus both Damon and NVE are in their walk years, along with Ratliff. They have a lot of flexibility one way or another and can afford to let Kidd get healthy.

A trade of Kidd for Rahim and Telfair would be a good move for the Nets. They are taking a gamble that Kidd would not be the same after the surgery, but the odds are good considering his age and his game.

If I were the Nets though, I would ask for either NVE or Stoudemire as well. They would have to give up Alonzo, Aaron Williams and another contract to make things match.

That's asking for way too much. I wouldn't even give up Shareef for Kidd right now. The Nets will probably be awful next year, but it will pay off in the long-term if they can do a Shareef plus Telfair deal for Kidd and I can't imagine them getting a better offer. The only competing offer was Jason Terry and cap filler.

if that cap filler is Marquis Daniels where do I sign?

Kidds a mystery. If he fully recovers (its certainly possible) he's the real deal. He's not a leaper either, so as long he gets the quickness back hes fine.

ok, how about a 2nd round pick & some cash considerations then? is Jason Kidd worth that at least?

this is getting ridiculous...Jason Kidd is still the top PG in the game today until proven otherwise...you should be able to get alot more than a player who's never been able to elevate the level of the players around him over his career or put up good numbers on a good team.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Anything's possible, but the rumors were Terry and lousy overpaid players. A Shareef for Kidd offer is by far the best offer they have gotten since all teams have lost interest in Kidd due to his age, contract, and knee problems

Here's one article I found. There was a better one with more specific details on Realgm that I can't find now, though.

I just dont get that... why is it wrong to say he's damaged goods with a horrific contract until proven otherwise? Look at what happened to Van Ex after the surgury, McDyess... it seems for every guy that heals 3 dont. Kidd is 31... thats not old but its not young either. I think if Kidd has as much value as you think he would already have been traded.

Actually, Van Ex's injury was less serious than Kidd's. The only previous players who have had microfracture surgery are Penny Hardaway, Chris Webber, Kerry Kittles, Allan Houston, Eduardo Najera, and Jamal Mashburn. None of those players are the same as they used to be and most are not even 70% of what they used to be. 70% of what Kidd used to be seems like a reasonable, optimistic estimate based on previous players, and is a huge risk for a 31 yr old with a max contract until he's 37. I think it's unreasonable to assume that until proven otherwise, Kidd will be the first player to make a very good recovery from microfracture surgery.
