with that said, even though i think he would be a good fit for the knicks, hes still an enigmatic streaky PG
I think that's all fair. I agree for the most part, but I just see it being a good fit.
I have no problem with bringing him in, even on a 2-3 reasonable deal. For me it comes down to info I don't really have. What does the staff think of our current guards? Wroten is a total wild card. Lets see him healthy before I consider him for anything. Grant had a strong finish and is a prospect I am still very high on. Does he pop? Guy was the best P&R PG in ALL of college basketball. For all we know he's the starter. What if Langston fixes that shot and plays like he did to start the season last year? A 3&D guy off the bench....I guess what I am saying is I would not want adding Jennings to retard the progress of the youth on the roster, but talent is talent and we need it. It will be an interesting offseason I suspect
Wroten is a huge question mark because of his injury. I am rooting for the kid and loved the signing, but to count on him for anything at this point is foolhardy. I like Grant a lot, but look at how many guards there are on good teams. Hornacek ran a two guard front in Phoenix with Dragic and Bledsoe - they played side by side to great effect. No reason Jennings and Grant couldn't do the same at times. I don't want Calderon in the rotation next season at all.
We'll need a lot of guards if we want to be able to play small more often. I think that was the team's biggest weakness - once Boston put Marcus Smart on KP in the Melo trip game in January in the second half and almost came back to win... teams seemed to figure out how to play the Knicks from that point on. If Rolo and KP were both on the floor, teams went small and put a small guy on KP and spread the floor and KP couldn't punish the smaller guy in the post - guys like Smart and Draymond just bullied him off his spot.
well I expect the KP thing to work itself out and quickly. I would not only be surprised, but would expect the next time Melo and KP get together to work out that KP tells him to hack him and push him around in the post while KP works on his moves. That being said your point is taken and we simply don't have ponies to run with in the backcourt. Jennings has a nice looking jumper but it misses too much. Wroten and Grant are both slashers so there could be a good fit there. In that aspect Jennings fits better than Rondo.
I actually think Jose in reduced role might be a very good thing. I have very tempered expectations, but I am also very excited about the direction of the team. Getting more and more excited about seeing the same crew under JH
