"While Dampier could be a force in the East, he would represent the latest in a long line of mediocre Knicks players getting superstar contracts."
If 6 years 65 million is a superstar contract than Marcus Camby must be an all star who didnt regularely miss half seasons until last year. Adonal Foyle, who averaged 13 minutes in 44 games due to injusry last season, and an incredible 3.1 points, got a 5 year 41.6 Mil deal. For 13 minutes a game in half a season! Brian Cardinal, a 6-8 forward, who got 21 munutes a game and scored 9.8 points got 6 years 39 Mil. The point is people are getting signed to insane contracts and to get a player we have to play the game.
Yes Erick played harder to get a large contract, and yes he won't be as good on the Knicks. But the point is he is a top 6, 7 center in the league and may be for the next 4 to 5 years. So if we have to eat a year before he becomes an expiring contract, and get 3 to 4 solid years from him, I will be happy. And by solid I hope for 10 points 10 bounds.
