and I am sure that they would not like that you are critical of phil and you did not like our pick. For either of those transgression, you may have caused those missed guys to stay away.

so here is what phil is thinking ....

The difference there is that I air my laundry at the scene of the alleged crime...I don't beat the point into the ground to no end...Now KP is a Knick, I root for him!!..Thats the difference!!!...

Also, I'm rooting for Phil...I'm critical of Phil when I don't agree with his moves..And there have been lots of things I haven't agreed with...I would be the happiest guy if I'm wrong and Phil is right..Know why, we will be winning...

yea which is exactly why this thread is a complete utter disgrace and only created to get posters to attack other posters with a ridiculous generalization. Zero intent to have an open discussion about basketball here

Melo has played under 3 coaches in 5 seasons.
There was measured success with woodson when a decent team was rostered.
Last year he played mostly hurt with a new coach, new system, new assistants and struggled with the triangle with a roster that was dysfunctional and lacked talent.
This season he physically looks good but is rusty, has 9 new players to get with and they have to learn the triangle and get it instinctive.

For a player, even an 12 year vet all-star to need games to get the groove and 9 others to learn its not really that much a stretch to think it could take a while for Melo to get comfortable.

We talking about first 4 games people.
We talking about .500 after 4 games.

As others have said, you better believe Phil and Derek are trying to finally get through to him. He will either be better for it or it's going to be sayonara Melo to Washington, Charlotte or Chicago.

It's a stupid argument..You can't be a contender without all stars on your roster...When you come up against 5 hall of fame players on the Spurs roster and then lose, later start a thread saying you can't win with Melo, it's a bit misleading..Silly to be honest...Knicks are not built to compete at the next level..Spurs are honing their skills for the playoffs, toying with us as ATL was...Spurs weren't playing hard at all..Aldridge didn't play the entire second quarter..

I personally want to see Melo traded..I'm a big fan of the game..I want to see if he has what it takes to compete at the next level..I want to see that of all top players in this league..I wanted to see it here but that won't happen given our off season..The Clippers had big time trouble last year because their "stars" couldn't take the next step..Curry took the next step in the playoffs and it was great to see him grow as a player...You saw both instances plain as day..That's what this is all about..Ain't about getting your favorite player in Uni..I want to see competitive ball...I could care less who is in Uni as long as we win..

then don't defend him taking the money over an opportunity to win. u come across as a hypocrite.

My desires also embraces reality..Its a business and no one will leave 60 mil on the table, not even David West.. A few years back, the catcher for KC Royals signed a long term deal with his club for about 1 mil a year for about 10 year..I think it gets bumped up to 5 mil per in the 7th or 8th year, club option ..He is a stud..He was naive to sign that deal new to the country and without an agent..U think KC will do the right thing and pay the kid his true value knowing they took advantage of him? ..Do you now think highly of him knowing his employer is pocketing the money he has help them earned with reaching back to back World Series?

i thought it was agreed that you're not allowed to compare baseball to basketball. besides, the kid won and he is happy and is a hero and is universally loved. does he have fu money? no, but almost. is he a made man? yes. is melo? no.

alex rodriguez is 700 times richer and miserable.

C'mon ... melo was not going to leave 60 million on the table and its silly for anyone to expect him to.

translation: melo had no choice.

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Excellent Post. I agree 100%. I love the knicks more than any other team I root for and im a big sports guy. I want them to win more than anybody but I have no problem pointing out weaknesses, problems, etc. when I feel the need to. There are a few posters who view that as being a bad fan which really makes me sick. This thread does suck and there was no need to post it to begin with

It probably was an awful thread. I took it more as a venting of frustrations. I personally post less these days because everything spirals out of control into some Melo anti-Christ thread. It is annoying. If people want to be critical, that is fine, but we need to pass judgment equally when other take bad shots or make poor decisions with the ball. Also, the contract talks are insane given the current landscape of player salaries. Got role-players making 15 mil or more.

For most of you to pounce on the dude as you have tonight is really unfair. He is the ONLY player on our roster that can put up 20+ points per night. If he doesn't take his shots, who do we have that can score the basket?

I for one am rooting against the knicks to lose

...as long as Melo shoots 4 for 20 or worse, but does other things.

I know, I know, you voted him MVP in the Wizards game...

He is not playing well. Period.

Normally if you don't play well, you sit, but not in his $124m case. I get it. He sells tickets, sells jerseys, sells LaLa to Maino etc. Truth is, in a basketball sense, he doesn't bring much to the table, except for the occasional efficient scoring outburst 1 out of 4 games...

Doesn't play D (see Kawhi Alley Oop, post and toast, and open 3 pointer), doesn't pass unless doubled or tripled (3.1 career assist average and 3.5 this season), doesn't provide any sort of real leadership. He's a true 1 dimensional suck hole. Just check out his average plusminus for the season(-2.7). If he's not scoring at a efficient rate...he ain't helping the team. PERIOD.

I can't wait for dktf7t to come back for tonight's game and give his cool, calm analysis of melo's disgusting effort. In his fair and balanced way of course.

Yeah, Arod looked truly miserable as a color commentator after having a pretty decent season for a 40 year old. With that disgusting WS ring on his finger.

You certainly have an interesting worldview.

If we do manage to win 42 or 47 games (or whatever your high side expectation was) this meaningless jv season, I will be truly interested in hearing your take on it.

Followed by the even more usual suspects to
1) denigrate anything even vaguely smelling of homer posting and
2) elevate open minded, level headed statistically-backed criticism (read: their negative opinion of one certain player) as the highest level of internet virtue and tRUE kNICK fANDOM.

Did you watch the Wizards game? Any chance of you getting your fan card revoked for not calling out great performances, by namely ME70? He took 2 more shots that KP did against the Spurs. Barely shot in the 4th quarter when the lead was cut down to 4. Why don't you post about how many passes he might have made that didn't convert? Why are lots of posters pointing out that he is exerting more effort on defense?

Why don't you respond to what's actually posted? Who said you lied? Take the cool Melohate hat off for just a second, Chucky.

Things are actually looking up.

Let's see, pass the phucking ball or take it up against 2 of the greatest defenders known to man? Phuck it, let's get buckets!

But if he doesn't make those kinds of plays, then you criticize him for being too soft and not taking it hard to the rim. Right?
