I have watched this video several times and I don't see any reference to calling an @sshole, bitter ax grinding reporter in NY. Also haven't seen anything about welcoming more new teammates to my team that doesn't have anyone with a tenure longer than 1 year on it.
I'm tired,I'm tired, I'm so tired right now......Kristaps Porzingis 1/3/18

He has a right to an initial reaction. His alledged reaction is a question about the near future. He is part of that answer. Let's see if he can help figure it out.

It's Anthony that has the biological clock ticking. He smells basketball mortality perhaps for the first time. And hey, most players don't win chips, we are in the Eastern Conference with another all-time great blocking our path, and he's already setting himself up for a good career after hoops. So we'll see what he wants to do as a basketball player going forward.

Edited because this could very well be a bunch of bull****.

yea this.. I mean these are athletes, not NSA employees. As a player or a coach I have no problem with a guy being pissed about a trade or draft pick, especially knowing 1) his buddy was traded or 2) his buddy wanst picked but was considered.

Its how he acts.

What happens when we find out Melo had KP over for dinner to welcome him to NY and the Knicks. Do we get 8 threads about that?

This is a non issue (for now)

what is so surprising to me is how melo and thjr are buddies now? wasn't it rumored that anthony wanted to "beat his ass" just this past season for something thjr said or did?

this is why i don't believe a word of what sola is saying.

Carmelo Anthony calls Kristaps Porzingis a steal, downplays drama

Reports surfaced Friday that Carmelo Anthony was unhappy with the Knicks' draft night moves of trading Tim Hardaway Jr. and drafting Euro project Kristaps Porzingis. It makes sense, as THJ was at least one of the players that despite their differences, Melo can be sure can play in the NBA. Porzingis on the other hand will probably not start to really reach an impact status until after Melo's prime is well over, and that's just not ideal for a guy looking to somehow someway find his way to a title.

But Friday night, Anthony took to Instagram and responded to fans' comments about the situation, denying that there's any problem at all. Let's go to the tape...er, gram! Courtesy of Melo's account via CBSSports.com's Adam Silverstein:

Melo may be being completely truthful that none of the allegations are accurate and this would still be hilarious. Anthony has routinely been involved in drama from the time he was drafted. It follows him around everywhere. He was traded from Denver 18 months after reaching the Western Conference Finals, two of his coaches have been fired since he moved there, and every week there's some piece of news about how he feels about things. Drama is a given with Anthony.

Hey, that's nice of him. Way to give the new teammate some love and plant something that gets some positive headlines to battle the negative perceptions of the kid. In a related question, anyone else wonder why Carmelo Anthony is on Instagram on a Friday night in June? Doesn't a guy with that much money who can either travel the world or hang out in New York have better things to do? This, however, is pure goodness.

It is interesting he said "I can't wait, though," sine he didn't mean it this way, but he literally can't wait for Porzingis to reach his potential. He needs him to be good now.

Things got a little testy.

Touched a nerve, have we? Makes you wonder if Melo was the one writing these or if it was a friend, employee or assistant. Melo (or whoever) is 100 percent correct, here, though. He made his money because he's worth it on the market. Also, Melo could make billions per year and he still has a right to disagree with decisions that affect the team he's ultimately responsible for. The first blame for any Knicks failure goes to Melo. Not Phil Jackson, not James Dolan, Melo.

He should have just gone with the Rubio "change your face, though."

I mean, it's got three sides, Carmelo. Everyone learns that in third grade. I think he'd probably spot a triangle. Oh! You meant...

As a long-time critic of the triangle, I'll happily admit he's right here. I spend a lot of time trying to figure it out and even I don't get it.

(Which is probably why it's an antiquated system that should never be tried as a system for any team that's rebuilding through youth and unproven players, but whatever.)

Warning! Warning! Danger, Will Robinson! Danger! Do not antagonize the Knicks fans! Not a good idea! Run away! Close the app! Close the app now! Someone take his phone!

Devil's advocate for a second: Imagine if Melo didn't actually feel this way. Imagine that all around the world, people were talking about something they believed you believed when you never believed nor said anything of the sort. That'd be frustrating, right?

I'm not saying that's the case here. I'm saying if you choose to extend him the courtesy of the benefit of the doubt, it's unfortunate for him.

Either way, Melo's got Zingy, for good or for bad, and is looking at another long year unless the Knicks can pull off some real coups in free agency, which opens next Wednesday at 12:00 a.m. ET.

Carmelo Anthony got defensive Friday night.

I don't have an account with Instagram.

Are you able to have this kind of dialogue on it?

Here is another reference to it:

...And now you see the digital "sand trap" that gets so many people in trouble today.

All he had to do was suck it up and put out some congratulatory comments about his new teammates on social media, yet now he is looking more and more foolish, and his life is being looked at as if he were one of the Kardashians.

I still don't really believe that Melo was the one responsible for all of this. Even when the comments 1st came out it was clear that they weren't direct quotes. He may have been saying crap to make THJ feel better, but I never believed this wasn't more about Isola and SAS doing what they always do, which is making trouble for the Knicks.

Isola has an agenda and so does SAS. Melo was not excluded from the draft talk and was even there at KP's workout. I'm pretty sure they let him know what they were thinking. This whole thing stinks of Isola hate and SAS stupidity.

it's of no matter what Isola and SAS were driven by, Melo comes off as weak and petulent as they come

all this stuff comes out the day after, and what does Melo do to get things under control/show support/make the situation look desirable to free agents?

what does he do?

he sends out a stupid couple of tweets left up to interpretation and then goes after fans on instagram replies

he's a straight up troll

(and i was a big supporter of his, right up until he played in that stupid all star game. that was the tippping point. )

I believe that is Melo responding, but I have no problem with him defending himself. There are a boatload of fans who go overboard and believe all the crap they read from Isola and SAS. Look the Media is the problem here. They ran with the story before confirming with Melo if he really had a problem with KP being drafted.

Perhaps Melo was sad to see THJ go or maybe he was just talking crap to sympathize with him. All I know is that Melo himself never made any statement or text suggesting he felt betrayed by Phil. This is all Isola and SAS. Why would Melo need to make such comments when he could just call Phil and say he wanted to be traded? Melo wasn't shut out of the process. Instead he was very informed during the entire process. Melo is going to be a key part of the FA recruiting process coming up. It just doesn't make any sense for him to be this bent out of shape over the draft. Not when he knows the real upgrades will come in FA.

So now you admit to being biased. That's not a good way to do about judging this situation. I have a bias against Isola and SAS that is based on a history of making irresponsible statements and articles. When it comes to Melo in this case he has never directly said anything negative about KP or Jerian. If I went around telling people you said some crap you didn't say how would you feel? What if you said some things to a friend and they told the press and exaggerated your statements or just flat lied? In the end you would likely not be a happy camper. IMO we should always consider the source of these negative comments. Isola and SAS are not credible sources IMO.

Melo needs better people around him....responding to fans in a defensive manner on Instagram is not the best way to shoot these rumors down.

This is what you get for having inner circle people that are close to Stephen A. Smith...totally fine for Melo to be privately frustrated but this is getting out of hand and can affect our FA process.
