So if you got lucky in the lottery that makes you a better front office man? Maybe we should have made Phil role the dice.. he can only take the Knick job if he rolls a 5 or 6, anything lower clearly shows he's unlucky and by your logic a bad front office man. That about right?

He has made no good decision since he has been hired. I wish to be patient with him, because of the many rings he won.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

OP: Fire fish and what would you have the new coach do different? Rewrite history? If we won a few games earlier in the year would it have made a difference? Statistically worst rarely gets top pick. We had a 33% chance of top two.

Your thread shows not how dumb the Knicks are, but how emotionally short sighted you are.

Dude, if you are not going to compete for a playoff spot, you MUST compete for a top three lottery pick to better your roster; specifically, given the talent level we currently have. After the first 42 games, it was clear that we were terrible and Phil decided to use plan B;which was to tank for a top three pick. However, he failed to instruct his dumb coach of the blue print.

Thank God Fisher is no longer our coach, now let's get Calderon out of here:)

Negative, I don't want instant gratification. I want smart decision from the front office and coaching staff.

So does anyone think that both Philly the Lakers did not have fans rooting for them to tank?

Does anyone think that Philly and the Lakers did not have fans who were annoyed with where they finished record-wise?

Does anyone think that Philly and the Lakers did not have fans who wished they were in the Knicks position prior to the balls being chosen? The Lakers were actually at risk of losing their pick under certain circumstances.

In a lottery where we ultimately had NO control, the Knicks were simply unlucky…PERIOD.

This is a foolish thread, and almost not worthy of responses from rational folks.

Nobody who has ever been a real athlete and competitor would be critical of Fisher on this issue.

Nobody who has ever coached would be critical of Fisher on this issue.

Fisher did everything he was supposed to do.

As I said before in another thread- you should be pissed off with Carmelo Anthony.
He continued to play with an injury that eventually required surgery.
He continued to play when the team had no real expectations of being in the playoffs.
He continued to play for all the wrong reasons- so he could be in an All-Star game that was held in NYC and play in a game in London.

ADDED:

And yes, Jackson should have closed Anthony down earlier than he did, but not to tank. He should have shut him down because allowing him to continue to play risked further injury. Would it have served the same purpose as tanking- yes.

EnySpree: Can we agree to agree not to mention Phil Jackson and triangle for the rest of our lives?

Although 1969 is in his usual emotional weenie mode, I have to say he has a point. We lose a couple more games and we are drafting Towns. How that wouldn't play into this I can't see. We should have had the worst record if at all possible. Winning a meaningless game against SA did nothing but ensure we miss on Towns.

Still, I think pick 4 will be very solid for us, whether we draft our PG or trade Melo to move up to #2.

Let's see how it goes. Fisher couldn't lose games by himself. He also needs to earn the respect of the D-leaguers who will stay. He did the best he could in the circumstances. No way in hell we should fire him, that's some stupid ish.

Lakers and Philly skipped the Knicks. How do you know that doesnt happen anyway? if you think Minny's pingball combination matters, then so does theirs.

What's even more tragic was that a Minnesota ball was picked for the 3rd draft slot, and they had to pick again, at which point Philly had a ball chosen.
