I disagree. I had Okafor first nearly 95% of the year and I really like him but there are areas that separate each player and that will become apparent in the nBA. That being said I am happy with either--I would not consider us a loser in anyway rather a big winner. I just feel for our team that Towns would be my preferential pick.
I don't see it that way. I see a towns playing on a stacked team he isn't a focal point he doesn't see doubles or triple teams. With the wildcats it's pick your poison. I see Ok4 getting better exposure to what he will see on a consistent level in the NBA.
I won't mind having Towns just not over OK4 if the choice is given.
You clearly don't watch any Kentucky games to be making that statement.
No Vmart is right. Towns has faced barely any double teams all year Okafor lives with double teams all year almost every minute.
Still I question Okafor's range offensively. His FT shooting is not great at all and he has NOT shown a 12 footer. Obviously hes great at taking the ball from the post of shallow wing and using nimble moves to the basket for a deft touch around 8 feet and in. What happens here though is you are keeping his man near the basket--most likely a shot blocker rim protector. Towns can move in and out.
Exactly

you guys are drunk on Towns. Anthony Davis played 30+ minutes as a freshman. Town's best dominating games come against 6'7-6'8 frontcourt players. You cant look at skills and assume this guy can accomplish these things your hoping for at the NBA level. There are far more failures there than success.
Again.. Towns could be a wonderful NBA player, but the stuff you guys are projecting on for his greatness he hasnt show consistantly on the NCAA level. OK4 gets doubled and pounded from the opening tip, is the focal point of an elite team's offense, is regarded as having one of the most complete NBA skills sets and footwork in CBB *ever*, is 19, 6'11 270lbs, a longer reach than Town, has MUCH better hands than Towns and shoots 65% every night with teams running everything they have at him every night.
The only thing that OK4 is behind on is defense, and most of that stems from his team's need for him to stay on the floor, and he's already an excellent rebounder.
Saying Towns would look better than OK4 next to possible FAs is utterly silly.
I would be happy if we drafted Towns, but over OK4? Pa-leaase.
Just for poops and giggles... For you guys who would pick Towns over OK4, please project what you think his minutes/#s will be his first 3 years. Im curious how close to NBA ready you think he is, because even if Towns is going to be great your still looking at something like this:
year1: 5ppg, 5rebs, 4PFs, 15mpg
year2: 8ppg, 6rebs, 4PFs, 18mpg
year3: 12ppg, 8rebs, 4PFs, 25mpg (probably starts)
year4: 18ppg, 10rebs, 30mpg (23 years old)
And THATS assuming he develops well, doesnt get hurt.
OK4? Lets be realistic.. your talking about a 15/10/55% post player at age 20 in his rookie season.
