"hell no, I ain't passing the damn ball ... geeeeeez you crazy, you guys be telling me, Melo, Carmelo, Da bomb to pass the damn ball ... you guys are trippin hehehehehe. crazy talk. Your move phil, pish, jimbo, shyt be crazy up heah"

Anyone with a managerial brain knew this would happen. All that garbage Phil blew up the public's crack about Melo upping his game to another level was cynical BS.

How can anyone with a straight face say Phil Jackson understands talent evaluation if he didn't already know Melo would go rogue and there was no chance of building a fluid, team oriented basketball culture with Melo as the core?

It's ludicrous.

Whether Phil acquiesced to Dolan's demand he re-sign Melo in order to get paid or he did it completely of his own volition doesn't really matter since he claims responsibility for this action.

Melo being Melo is all on Phil. He gave him the keys to drive this into a wall.

Yeah, Phil should have consulted you, you obviously know so much more than him about basketball and winning. To me Phil's biggest mistake was not signing Lebron in the offseason to a max contract. He should have then traded JR and Shump to the Spurs for Tim Duncan and Tony Parker and then bought the number 3 draft pick and drafted OK4 after convincing him to enter the draft a year early.

If you're trying to use sarcasm to establish that Phil's decisions weren't really bad, I'd have to give you a low grade.

Its the fact he had so little to work with, but people are judging on him- he had zero cap space, the 1 year MMLE, and a roster of untradeable players, yet people are judging him if he had the moon.

You might have a bad snowplow but you still shouldn't be throwing more snow on the road.
You're darn right we're judging him but these are still early judgments.

Its easy to blast him, because you critics with the power of hindsight act like you would have known better back then and that all of the moves which you would have done (which strangely you didn't share at the time) would have worked out great! You would have held on to Tyson and traded him for 6 first round picks, you would have traded Melo for Lebron, or let him walk, but then losing suddenly would have been okay. Share with us what you would have done differently- saying 'not sign Melo' and trading Tyson for a magic deal invented in your mind doesn't count.

I've done this a lot of times. I've posted a lot of Melo trades I would have done throughout the years, FAs that I thought were being undervalued and should be targeted, and the general approach I'd use to make decisions. I also at the time of the decisions made it clear I didn't think the Tyson trade or Melo signing was smart.

That's your stock response 'oh I said all that in various places'- give us a concrete plan.

Are you serious? I've probably given at least five different Melo trade proposals per year since the day he got here!
I've listed FAs that I thought were being undervalued, including stars like Harden and role players like Reddick.
I've indicated the approach I'd take and specific people I'd interview to be the GM.

What do you want? The 12 men who would be on more roster and the exact date down to the second that I would have acquired them?

All trade proposals are not accountable. Its easy to say "I woulda-coulda-shoulda".
Trade Melo? He has a no-trade clause.
Trade Melo? To who?
Trade Melo? Cuz any idea is better than 5-30! Of course it is.

Im not thinking 5-30. Im not even thinking about 10-72!!!!!!!!!! IM thinking about next year. Im thinking about the year after.
IM not thinking about Bargnani other than he is worthless at the moment but anything he can give us is a plus.
Im not thinking about our pick next year because if its no. 1, or no. 15 its NOT OURS. The Bargnani trade is done, gone, and pick not coming back.

I'd be pissed if the same thought process was still in place. Did Grunwald do the trade? He is gone. Did he tell Dolan he is a phuching idot for the shyt he did and thats why he left? Was he fired for the idiot trade?
But why fire a guy before the season starts? Makes no sense. What about Gabriel and Warkentein? Were they on the trade?

DId Walsh really get to spend 100 mil uninsured on Amare? Or Dolan?

Etc etc.........

My point? DIFFERENT THOUGHT PROCESS. THE PAST CANNOT BE CHANGED AND IF YOU WANT A CHANGE IT HAS HAPPEND. YOU WANT ANOTHER CHANGE? LAST TIME WE HAD INSTANT GRADIFICATION CHAGE WAS ISIAH!!! IT DID NOT WORK.
THE MAN YOU GAVE YOU DLEE, REEZY, Z-BO AND CRAWFUL GAVE YOU MARBURY AS THE QUARTERBACK!!!!! HE MADE THEM AWFUL.

YOU WANT THAT? NALOD WANTS THIS TORN THE PHUCH A PART!!! WHY KEEP MELO? CUZ HE SCORES 28 PTS A GAME AND THESE GUYS DON'T GROW ON TREES. PAUL PIERCE WAS AN LOSER AND WITH THE RIGHT GROUP HE IS HOF BOUND.
SO IS MELO. I HATED THE TRADE BUT ONCE YOU GO IN THAT DIRECTION YOU GO.

WHY AM I YELLING? I DON'T KNOW!

Stopping this cold turkey. Not going to do game threads for yucks any longer. As long as Melo is on this team, I'm off the radar. Knuckledraggers like Fishmike may now officially rejoice. No defeat. I've said what I want to say. I consider leaving a victory for prioritizing more meaningful activities over posting here. This is pretty trivial stuff in the scheme of things and I really have better things to do. Take care
