You really think that's an issue in the NBA? I don't see that being a real issue. If this was the 90's maybe, but the entire game has been changed to one of finesse more than brawn. back in the day you needed to be strong cuz you could use your hands to grab and hold guys. Now it's about speed, skill and to a lesser extent athletic ability. Guys want to be more elusive not big and strong.

I hinted mildly at it several posts back.

ha ha of course nba players have been using peds. why is this so shocking?
knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

Good to see him losing weight and getting in shape- something he had to do if he was going to be defending at the 3.

Hope he lost the weight the right way.

I said the same the other day. Been on Lebron for years now about peds and Miami deer antler. People thought I was kidding. Lebron looks like Mark McGuire after he got off the juice. No coincidence this comes right when the NBA finally tests for peds. Lebron is a naturally gifted physical specimen but no one can play 48mins at such a high level. Guard every position and recover so quickly from injuries. Clear as day IMO. Lebron just went from looking like Barry bonds/McGuire to looking sick

Size of his head is significant to me. Seems to be smaller in the photo I saw, yet given its relative size to his slimmer body, it should appear to be larger.

You know there were athletic freaks long before any kind of steroids and other PED's. I think people are way too ready to assume that athletes are on stuff just cuz they're muscular. You can get pretty big and fit all natural if you're genetically predisposed to it. Growing up me and my friends lifted and had no problem getting geeked up without any drugs. It's not like Lebron was built like Karl Malone, Oakley or Anthony Mason. Besides how wide spread could it be in the NBA when so many players are skinny as hell and still great ballers? The NBA just isn't a sport that players need to use PED's to excel.

If he really is that slim, he would play more SF than PF, with improved DEF and HELP DEF
Maybe even some SG

DK has been pointing out that he has not been in the best possible shape for an "elite/all star/franchise/max type of player

Maybe we get his wish and he finally plays well in a TEAM Philosophy
He likely got his final BIG contract and now he can finally focus on WINs and THE TEAM, rather than numbers, stats, highlights, another contract extension/ etc distractions

Though having many other players in contract years this upcoming season in addition to the first year of Fisher/PJ/ The triangle/ "establishing a winning culture emphasizes on team/player movement/ spacing etc

2015/16
Saving flexibility for Durant/Noah would be my goal with all the big names likely gone barring major injuries, that would be 2 seasons later though , but they would fit in the Triangles or any system with their skills/versatility

ha ha 12 years can you teach an old dog new tricks? it's good he finally lost the weight but does he have the willingness to have his atrocious decision-making taken out of his control? does he have the bbiq to make the most of the opportunities to finally be a decent team player?

these are the 124,000,000 dollar questions.

To be quite frank he's been slim before heading into a season and out of shape.

I'm interested in, in season conditioning////continued body maintenance on top of the things you mentioned

Does anyone remember the Black and White pic of Melo practicing with CP3 and Blake a couple yrs ago.

He looked good then

I think last year really took a toll on him. He was player of the month in April the previous two seasons.

No I think it's a matter of Melo not placing enough importance on staying in shape

Here are some things Google reveals about Melo's career conditioning

In October 2007 Denver Post

SLIMMER MELO

Physically, Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony appears to be great shape. In fact, he said he's down to 8 percent body fat and weighs 228 pounds, down from 234 last season.

Why?

"How'd I get there?" he said, smiling. "I've been playing three straight years, nonstop."

In Jun 2008 when in Denver

Six Nuggets — Nene, Kenyon Martin, Carmelo Anthony, J.R. Smith, Anthony Carter and Chris Andersen — lost a combined 76 pounds since the beginning of the summer. They are thinner to the eye, and on the court they have displayed fleeter feet than they did last season.

"We sat down at the end of the season with the coaching staff, and then George was like, 'We need to be faster, we need to be stronger, we need to be quicker,' " Nuggets strength and conditioning coach Steve Hess said.

"We want to remain strong, but we want to make sure everyone loses fat and comes in leaner and meaner. So we pretty much told every player our goal is to keep your body fat as low as possible, get you as lean as possible and get you as fast as possible."

Chris Andersen 250 232 18

Okay so we know at one point he was as heavy as 245 down to 236 but he started the season at 228

Goodness gracious he put on 17lbs during the season

I only know of professional boxers who have this kind of fluctuation in weight

Here's a pic of Melo in September-October 2011 Knicks right before the season started

Newsday Piece in May 2012

Carmelo Anthony refuted claims that he was in less than peak shape this season. Mike Woodson earlier this week issued a challenge to Anthony to come back in better condition next season.

"I think you guys looked at that a little bit too much, over analyzed that," Anthony said. "We all can come back in better shape, better condition.

"I'm not going against what coach Woodson said. But I felt like I was in phenomenal shape, especially coming down the stretch, late March, April, the whole month of April, even coming down to the playoffs."

Carmelo more than likely wasn't in shape end of 2011-2012, the year Lin and Woodson saved us while Melo dealt with nagging injuries.

Came back next year and the team won 54gms, I think he improved his conditioning some

Here are pics in June 2012 offseason after Woodson recommended he get in shape.

Must remember this was the same offseason for Olympics

What I figured he has been in shape before.

Usually it's during the offseason

He doesn't maintain the conditioning as season progresses

This makes 3 people/////// Karl, Woodson, Phil having asked him to lose weight[along with others]

If he continues these tendencies of laziness during the season he's bound to break down.

Already having to contend with getting older working against him

He now has an ideal playing weight of 228-236

He has daily calorie intake of 2500-3000 depending on activity

he actually used his no-trade clause as a stomach band. This way when he eats his money it costs less to stay full.

Ice on Knees?????

Nalod 50 year old man just played three days straight on hard tennis court cuz of rain on our clay outdoor courts (softer, easier on the knees!) After two straight days the knees hurt. Last nite after playing two hours I iced both knees. Never tried it before but woke up this morning better than the previous two.

Ice them Knees!!!!

I never had a knee problem or incident in my life. Pro basketball players take a pounding and they would be stupid to not ice them knees down after a work out!!!!

Social media got dudes checking out summer conditioning effects and got the haters worried and the lovers loins filling!

Somewhere there is a team usa playing and working out. These guys have to play about year round to stay in shape and stay sharp.

Next up: Amares September proclamation of rejuvination, redemption and reincarnation!!!!!

Phil could have easily told him what you just posted

Hey Melo you've made 7 All-NBA teams and Player Of The Months

You're weight and conditioning are fine by me

I said the same the other day. Been on Lebron for years now about peds and Miami deer antler. People thought I was kidding. Lebron looks like Mark McGuire after he got off the juice. Size of his head is significant to me. Seems to be smaller in the photo I saw, yet given its relative size to his slimmer body, it should appear to be larger.

But you have to be careful judging from photos. There is a large amount of distortion in a lot of photos depending on the focal length of the lens, the type of camera/digital sensor/film used, even the quality of the equipment. Then, you have visual tricks that can happen like perspective distortion that have nothing to do with the equipment of the lens and simply the placement of objects in the photo relative to others. It's very easy for something to appear different in a photo. It makes it impossible to judge definitively simply by looking at pictures.

Slim Melo? Melo Lite?
