MeloCentric senstive: Hostage? Its the season. We wanna talk about Amare's excitement to return to all star form? I hear he had some secret Israeli blood treatments, called "PlasmaContractYear Injection". Remarkable results are expected!!

Guns, is Melo really ruining the team the first week in july? Technically he is not a knick.

Shall we discuss Shump as the Kobe Lite? Melo can keep his kid enrolled in school in NY and play with the facsimile Kobe we call shump!

Are the Summer league guys standing around looking at hoophype on their smart phones waiting for direction?

I thought Leborn was the villain? I suppose some think these guys are being "selfish" for not letting the public into their inner circle? If they take max money they are also "Selfish"?

Only way this makes sense is either to pressure Knicks to do a sign and trade with the Bulls OR, maybe pressure Knicks to do a sign and trade for Kobe, allowing the Lakers to then sign Lebron as a FA and pair him with Melo. Still, that team would be bereft of anything, ANYTHING else.

Exactly. He stays, hopefully it's at a discount. If he goes, I won't lose a second of sleep over it

newyorknewyork wrote:While going after Lebron is understandable. Its stupid to go after Melo with the cap space they have. There are some decent free agents out there that they could just build a solid team. Ariza & Marvin Williams could be had for good deals. Or they could spend some more on Evan Turner. Offer Monroe a max deal.

Ariza is going to be overpaid. Turner is not a very good player for the money IMO. Williams is ok and could fit into a rebuilding team. Monroe doesn't offer much rim protection and will also be overpaid. IMO these guys are decent but more pieces you pay or overpay for ONLY once you have a contender or competitive team in place. If Melo walks we shouldn't be targeting expensive vet free agents. Cheap overlooked players, draft picks, and vet mins. Either the moves are savvy and pan out or we get a high lottery pick in 2015 and then have real cap space after bargs's useless ass and Amare come off the cap.

As for Melo, I'll say it again I'm not a hater per say but the worst option is giving him the 129 mil max. Id rather he walk for nothing. Obviously a sign and trade is the best case scenario however. At this point I hope he does bolt for LA if the Knicks did indeed offer him the full max. If takes less, great, I wouldn't mind that either.

I was talking about LA not NY.

Also Turner and Monroe are 25 and 23 and still have a lot of upside.

Ahhh, gotcha. That makes sense. My bad.

Yeah, but I'd rather get something back from the Bulls than nothing back from the Lakers (or Rockets)

This getting something back thing is overrated. While the Bulls have interesting players, I don't want anything from the Lakers except the guy they picked which won't work anyway. Houston already declined Parsons amd I don't want Lin at that salary.

When melo was forcing his way out of Denver, everybody had him going to Brooklyn, in fact it was a similar situation, reports said the knicks were favorite, and then the next day brooklyn was hours away from completing a deal, that when Dolan stepped in and emptied his pockets on the negotiating table

Knicks dont seem to have interest in a trade with the Bulls but they have some pieces that could help us in the rebuild. Id want Boozer, Nikola Mirotic and both their 2015 1st round Draft picks

Every 1st round pick or young player with upside can save a years worth of rebuilding.

I am hoping the bulls step up, the lakers in the picture could push the bulls to a sign and trade and if I am the knicks, I tell them I want Mcdermot and gibson.. if I can't get those two, carmelo can take less money with the bulls or get more in LA....

I would like that mcdermot kid.

They could keep Gibson just give up more assets. 2016 first rounder is a must.

Depends on what that something is. I don't want any bad contracts back. Better to have him walk for nothing than to continue the cycle that started with Ewing/Rice trade.

ok, thats cool, but I want mcdermot.. if we can get a 2016 first rounder as well, that would be an absolute steal of a deal considering the circumstances..

So the latest explanation for the sudden interesting LA is apparently this:

According to a person familiar with the situation, Anthony felt as if he got mixed signals from the New York Knicks during his meeting with the team on Thursday. While Anthony and his camp were told that he could have a maximum contract if he wanted it, a source said, team president Phil Jackson continued to preach the virtues of taking less than the maximum—a message that left Anthony questioning whether the max offer was sincere.

I'm sorry, is Melo an idiot? A shameless hypocrite? A BS artist? Or is he just trying to try and shift the blame to NY because he's chosen to go elsewhere?

How can you go on record as saying it's not about money, and you'll take a pay cut if it means winning, then when the team offers you the max but says if you take less they can build more of a winning team, pretend like your confused and disrespected?!

Writers need to write. Fans need to be hysterical about something.

One day Melo is about winning and leaving NY. The next he is all about winning in NY and signing for less. Then he is all about the money and set to re-sign for our max. But that would kill the story, so now LA is a contender with their max, which sounds great until you realize is still significantly less than ours, and totally disregarding the previous "winning" storyline because if the Knicks lack talent, LA lacks everything.

I think the past generation of fans had it better: sports world whoring the media sucks. Let me know who signed where and keep it simple and real.

you left out the part about building equity with the fans...

WHAT A FUCKING TOOL!!!

knicks win 38-43 games in 16-17. rose MUST shoot no more than 14 shots per game, defer to kp6 + melo, and have a usage rate of less than 25%

It's funny.

Probably half of these reports will turn out to be lies when Melo finally decides what to do.

Melo is entitled to his choice. The Knicks too. I hope we do the best in order to be title contenders soon, whether that is with or without Melo.

Where are the actual quotes from Melo? Can't believe you guys have such strong reactions to media speculation, third-fourth hand info and thinking out loud reports.....
