As per realgm.com yes

It would depend on Melo's salary, right? Lin, Asik, plus Chandler is about $30 mil. So Melo would have to be around there.

In his current salary we can get Asik, Lin, parsons, and Smith in return. If he gets a raise then rockets need to add another player to match. It's hard to trade large contracts. I think Houston has the best players with large contracts in exchange for melo

I believe Asik and Lin would only count 8.6M each against the cap

Yea that's why I asked the question. It doesn't kick up to $15m a piece after they are traded?

Gasol is a free agent. In a two year deal for 12mm he could be a good value at age 33. Dude can put up 20 and 10 on any given night. Not a lot of NBA players that cans still do that.

We going after Lebron. Will we be successful? Tune in!

For what its worth I'd like to see Melo be uber successful here. We need to surround him like boston did with Pierce. Sometimes they can be rehabbed.

The passing alone would be a treat but with only the mMLE to play with.

Re Bargs: I don't think it would work but if he stays he needs to work with Amar'e this summer and train in the low post. His 3 pt days are gone it seems. If he creates a post game to go along with his mid range game he could become a decent back up 5, maybe. Probably not but I like to think the best about people.

If anyone can get him to do that it would be Phil.

Phil never had Gasol stand at the 3pt Line eve though he could shoot

I am not sure. I think its just the 8.6 with a huge tax hit. I really doubt this happens. Asik and lin do not seem like triangle type players. I don't no maybe their is more high PnR in the triangle than I remember but if Lin hasn't improved his 3pt game he just is not a top level pg. Then again he is smart and he could fit the John Paxon role, who also was not a good shooter.

Nope but Robert and Odom were stretch fours. Also, didn't Rick Fox play a little 4 for the Lakers as he got older? I don't think Jackson is oppose to stretch 4s that actually stretch the floor unlike well...

The trade will start with Lin, Asik and Parsons. We will also be looking for some good 1st and 2nd round picks. At the very minimum I want the Knicks to be at an asset level that is comparable to before we gave up the house for Melo. This might be unrealistic, but it is time to start using our leverage instead of having leverage only being used against us.

If morey can drop 30 million in salary in asik and lin on the Knicks and get melo to go with harden, and Howard I think he sees it as a win. Parsons makes this a decent deal for the Knicks. If he is included i don't think the Knicks get picks though.

Honestly that deal makes sense. We get Lin, Parsons, Asik, a pick or two and then can move Tyson for a pick and be on our way. Let barfs go, sing a max guy... We could be pretty reloaded fast

But youu would have to spend moeny to retain Lin and Asik, otherwise they're gone after a year. So we'd be getting them as rentals in a year where we'd rather tank

Lin and Asik are poison pill rentals. What team would ever trade for that? We better be getting every HOUSTON draft pick for the next 5 years if we do that deal.

Everything in moderation. Even moderation.

True. I'm pretty sure there's some flexibility with the triangle

I'd need Canaan, the 2014 1st round pick and future picks included. If they agree, I'd really like the move and would make it without needing to trade Felton or JR. To be honest, we could easily dump both on Brooklyn for Marcus Thorton or an expirer if Billy King is still around. I'd then trade Tyson to the Thunder for Perkins, their two 2014 picks and a future pick. Come 2015, I'd target both Marc Gasol and Kevin Love.

Melo doesn't have to help us out by doing a sign and trade. It's not like he gets more money by doing that. At this point, we're lucky to get anything of value in an S & T.

Melo needs our help if the team is over the cap like the Rockets are. Aside from the Lakers, I don't think any other team with cap space has the means to offer Melo $20 million to start next season.

From what I understand when you trade you receive the cap hit but still have to pay the monetary value for the remaining year of the contract
