I think we would be better purely because of their talent, but in the end, I don't have faith that you can win with carmelo unless he is reduced to the role of a specialist only... and that does not come with a 20 mil price tag.. remember I would feel fine with kyrie or westbrook and luol deng, paul george, or just about any all star level player in the NBA... the problem isn't adding those guys, it is what we are adding it to... in this current role and salary... it won't work..

Ok, let me ask you this.. do you feel we can pay zach randolph 20+ mil and win a ring with him as the max player on your team, even adding a guy like kyrie? I am sure the answer is no.. zach is a fine player tho.. but i guess you hate him and he slept with your wife as well, right? it is simple.. carmelo is not good enough to do what you guys are asking.. even adding a guy like kyrie... 20 mil for carmelo is the problem.. cutting ties with him will be the best thing for the knicks to do.. guy is a loser.. In terms of success in this league, what really separates him from Durant? Durant got to the finals once, would he have got there without Westbrook? If your answer is no, how can you judge Melo as a career loser when he has never had another top-10 player on his team? I think if he had a player like Westbrook for the past 5 years, his playoff record would be a little different. I just think your perception of him is a little out of touch of reality when comparing him to other elite players. Its simple.. durant has delivered every playoff series, to say he would not have gotten there without westbrook is not relevant... no one, and I am sure even you never considered westbrook a superstar then, and if not, durant still had a team around him.. but the constant was DURANT.. But you know what.. durant is not asking the knicks to max him out.... that is not my problem.... my problem is that carmelo has been a playoff failure, he has not delivered in the playoffs here in NY.. so really it doesn't matter if durant had westbrook, who lebron had, who kobe had. .how does that justify giving carmelo a max deal at this stage in his career with all of the data we have on him over the years? if you think carmelo is close to those guys then please stop telling me who those guys have and show me where carmelo has succeeded on that level... that is all I ask... I don't want to hear he needs kyrie irvin, or wade, or lebron.... I want to see this team get to the ECF and further.. how can you judge Melo as a career loser when he has never had another top-10 player on his team? because carmelo has had DPOY on his team twice, in camby and chandler. sixth man of the year in JR, and he had billups who finished #6 in MVP voting.. when did all of a sudden you had to have a top 10 player on your team.. where was lebrons top 10 player in cleveland? Wade in miami( no shaq was no longer a top player in the league) Dirk in dallas, where was his top 10 player? Were any of the celtics top 10 when they won? This is where your argument does not hold up... carmelo had billups, and he forced his way out of denver.. Guy is a loser...selfish, and just a flat out dummy.. Lebron did not win a title in cleveland, the fact that he made it to the finals shows how great he is. Yes Shaq was still a top-10 player the year he won with Wade. Dirk in dallas is an exception, i will give you that. Yes KG and Pierce were both top-10 players in the league, with Allen definitely top 20. of course you are going to say shaq was a top 10 player with wade.. rofl.. I give up... and again last thing.. lebron didn't win a title. but he took that team to the finals, and never, ever was eliminated in the first round, with minimal talent!!!!! that is what I expect from elite players!!!!!!!!!!! You do realize that Shaq was only 32 years old and still averaging 23 and 10 right? Not to mention he is shaq and still demanded attention like few other players in nba history. the shaq that was on that championship team that year, was 33, and he averaged 20/9, a good player, but no longer a top 10 player in the NBA.... But it was wade and his out of this world finals performance that carried shaq you guys are looking for someone to carry carmelo while paying him more than anyone else in the league.. that is mindboggling.. Regardless of who carried who in the finals, i think we can all agree that a 33-year old Shaq averaging 20/9 and still one of the biggest presences in basketball could get our current team a lot closer to a championship contender. So why is it Melo that gets criticized for not having that player to help him get thru the regular season and early playoffs so he has an opportunity to do what Wade did? It may or may not happen, but i hope you see my point. shaq didn't become intimately involved in the destruction of the team he wanted to land with-- melo did. lebron elevated his game and success when he committed to being a great defender and sought the toughest assignment every night. that is not ever going to happen with carmelo anthony-- conditioning and defense will always remain an issue and will be a huge reason he will never win a title as the main guy. What destruction? We are coming off a 54-win season, atlantic division title, and 2nd round playoff finish not to mention an open salary cap situation in less than 2 years. The things people make up... you are like a brand new coloring book. lots of outlines but no fill-ins. Ok to clarify, i don't consider losing Gallinari, W Chandler, Mozgov, Randolph, Curry, and a bunch of late draft picks the destruction of this franchise. But agree to disagree. of course you wouldn't.... but if you are not getting better, you are getting worse.. .we are not getting better... meanwhile, the guys you mentioned.. won 57 games and their future looks BRIGHT.. so how would you define that? We got better. Refer to last seasons results. Denver won 57 games with the best depth in the league and then got exposed. Not sure how bright their future is, many project they will miss the playoffs.... And that's not even discussing amare stoudemire and the level he was at then vs. now. Peace.... Knicks won a playoff series, Denver did not. Knicks will have significant cap space in 2 years and Denver will not. I Just look at facts, not some wild theories based on a hatred for Melo and a love for gallo and co. Every view you have on this topic is like you can read the future. Since the trade, we have had nothing but positive results in the standings and playoffs while the players we traded are either solid role players or non factors, meanwhile Anthony enjoyed an MVP caliber season and helped the Knicks to reasonable success withoit any help from amare. The fact that you still argue this topic like we clearly haven't improved and Denver is so much better off is laughable, just look at the results and nothing else.
well I hope so then that will mean carmelo won't be here.. and all will be good.. again, you are dancing around the facts... either carmelo will be here with very little cap space,and oh, just think we have to sign shumpert too..... or both will be gone with cap space.. which is it?
Denver will be fine, remember they were supposed to be the loser in all of this... You are celebrating knicks winning a playoff series.. LOL.. dude after the trade the goal was championship.. we are not closer to one than the nuggets.... take off the rose colored glasses homie.. just look at the results and nothing else. I do, we got smashed by a team in indy that is younger, better and has more assets than us... the knicks are not close to a top team in the east... we made the trade to be one, and we are not.. i call that failure.. Even with Melo resigned, we will likely have max cap space. Yes our goal was to win a championship, and that included Stoudemire playing at a high level. Who is to say we wouldn't be a contender with Stoudemire still playing at an all-star level? That's not Melo's fault. You don't know what the future holds for the Knicks or the Nuggets, all you can go on is what has transpired since the trade, the rest is just a guess. I don't think Denver has a bright future with what they have now, i don't think Gallo will ever turn into a star, and i don't think we would be a 45 win, let alone 54 win team had we not dealt for Melo. That is my opinion, you have your's. But the facts are all we have to go by. Knicks have improved and your crystal ball can't decide what happens next as much as you believe it does. |
