I have no idea why he wouldn't feel that way. Why overpay and dip into this MLE for a guy that won't play more than 20 mins a game backing up the 4/5 spots?? We could get a young guy (with a higher ceiling than a 35-year-old Brand possibly -- maybe we could uncover a gem with a younger big) at league minimum money....At the very least, we could get Earl Barron who's a good 3-4 years younger than Brand, for the vet minimum...Backup PG is where I'd look to use the $3.2m exception. I mean what if there's nothing to this Eric Bledsoe thing, Collison won't take the mini-ML, neither will Devin Harris and there winds up being a bidding war for Aaron Brooks in a week or 2? Shouldn't we want the mini-ML for that scenario? I hope they know what they're doing man...Speaking of Bledsoe, I'd love to pry that kid away from the Clippers. For that, I'd be prepared to S&T JR Smith AND even include Hardaway Jr. if need be. http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/brandel01.html Brand's per 36 production has not really gone down. He only played 20 minutes per game last year but still averaged 7 points 6 rebounds and 1 and 1/3 blocks per game. He's a much much better player than Bargnani and if we can get him without giving up any assets it'd be the best move made by Grunwald so far. I'm not sure how anyone can like Bargnani at all, he's pretty much the exact opposite of what we need. We do not need a perimeter big who doesn't rebound and can't pass. Rose is not the answer.
