everything you see needs to be informed by whether you can picture this guy coming up solid in a conference finals series.
my impression is that he comes up way way short when it matters most, and a final four series is when it matters most since that is the ceiling for this team with melo as the main.
then you have to be concerned about his lack of professionalism with what seems to be a substance abuse issue and whatnot.
I noticed he became increasingly thin as the season wore on, if he's a recreational drug user it wouldn't surprise me. There is no up curve when it comes to J.R. especially, once we hand him another fat check.
WOW...Just WOW...U guys been rooting against the Knicks all year..Sure u don't want JR here because it will hurt the Knicks...More opportunity for the Knicks to fail so you can say I told u so about Melo...Sad really...
Nice try hol but I've never liked J.R. Smith and he did nothing this year to draw me closer to liking him. The only players on this team who I appreciate in terms of overall consistent TEAM effort were...
Shump
Kidd
Pablo
Felton
Copeland(somewhat)
The rest only validated the reason(s) I never liked them. It's not just about acquiring talent but bring in some likable professional TEAM players and discussions like these will happen far less than they currently do
U don't have to like him or Melo for that matter..Just recognize that his overall play helped the Knicks be a better team, if you want to be objective...
I disagree. I think their talent/production helped their own individual situations I do not feel it benefited us projecting out. Overall record suggest we were a much better team but I look many other variables(how we win, how we lose, how we play from qrt to qrt, how consistent each player's level of play is, scheduling, ability to overcome adversity, poise, game control, toughness, effort, style of play, TEAM chemistry.... etc etc.
Because look at it this way.... say we win 46gms next yr and Melo's and J.R.'s numbers are identical but we advance to the second rd and lose in 7gms.... Does that mean the team prior to was better just because we won 54gms?
I'm not going to give more credit than necessary from a byproduct of volume.
That's like saying a 32oz bottle of Coke taste so much better than a 24oz bottle of Coke...Naaaahhhhh same tasting soda.... you just got more and you paid more for it too.
