JR hasnt been the same since Game 3 in the first rounf when he got suspended. He must have cleaned out a whole city bar during his days off. I understand having an off night but jr looks like he doesnt even belong on the court. I hope he gets it together by Saturday but with 3 days in between games god knows what jr has been up to

Defense

Worrying about JR's shooting percentage has turned into a national pasttime. It is only rehashed with the press pool sitting around waiting on Amare.

Earl Smith Jr will be fine. He has provided more thrills than chills this season and there is no doubt so long ae continues to play defense and rebounds, he will get minutes. It ain't that deep. That is the beauty of basketball as a team game.

One guy falters and a teammate picks him up. That is how teams do.

"Shooters go through it, and he's just got to think every time he pulls up to shoot a shot or he goes to the rim, that he's going to make the shot... you can't back away from it. We've all gone through it as players throughout our careers, and I've got faith and I believe in J.R. Eventually he'll break loose, and when he does, he'll be back to J.R. again, and that's going to help us even more I think."

Let us raise a toast to Pablo Prigioni and Raymond Felton... And the author of that quote ... Mike Woodson

There is no problem with Earl Smith that a buzzer beater cannot fix.

I've been looking at this and pausing it at the moment he gets the ball; it's barely, barely a travel. pierce, kg, do all worse. if you look at the vid, he plants his feet immediately after he gets the ball. and it's almost a simultaneous plant that he could pivot on his left. part of me does believe that jr gets short shrift from the refs. in fact, i don't think it's a travel. see where his feet are the moment his hands get the ball. they're not established, either one. so he could still pivot on either one.

he caught the ball as he establishes his right foot as his pivot foot.

You know what I've been wondering? Does anyone think that JR might have hurt his shooting arm when he threw that elbow?

I don't know but I saw Mario Chalmers choke Noah last night when Noah set a screen. There was another play where a guy took a deliberate shot to the face and nothing happened as well. What JR did wasn't right but I don't think punishments are being handed out evenly.

If you watch & listen to the end of the clip, Woodson yells at J.R not for the traveling call, but for the delay of game warning J.R gets. Instead of handing the ref the ball when the ref ask for it he just turns away and drops the ball and walks away.

This is why I think Woody yells at J.R. What do ya think ?

"buzzer beater?" chasing cards is a losing strategy. it would be better if he played with poise throughout the game. streak shooters with mental instability is a bad combination especially in the playoffs.

Correct, the yelling is for the undisciplined delay of game by JR, not the travel.

And to top off this downward spiral, JR has just been fined for flopping! JR GODDAMNIT! I hope he can turn things around, he's really having a rough stretch and we really need him.

I have an unhealthy hatred for flopping. This is sad news...
Knicksfan: Hypocrite league that fines players after the game for flopping but in the game and with obvious flopping they call the fouls.

Where are the JR sword swallowers? I've been hearing about how great he is all year, yet he plays exactly like I've been watching him play his whole career - stupid and selfish.

This happened in last years playoffs also. I thought it was that JR just was not good vs the heat. It is now seeming to me that he is just not good in the playoffs period.

Earl Smith Jr tried to play after coming down from a 102 degree fever. Damn him.

4 for 12 - He had a fever and yet that was his best shooting performance in a while. Maybe with a 105 fever he'd actually be able to shoot like an adequate NBA player.

Maybe he needs a couple of drinks before stepping out on the court?

Smith can't do anything right Instead of getting the Pacers sick he is making the Knicks sick. This isn't the type of assist the Knicks need.

Wasn't there a guy from about 5 years ago claimed he always had a (small) bottle of gin/vodka when he played?
