I agree. Solitary confinement strikes me as enough. If they do torture the man though, I would hope they don't report it.

They don't want to seem politically incorrect. They're Muslim and their radicalization led to this, but to say so directly is taboo. People in the media are probably disappointed they aren't tea partiers or some right wing extremist group.

Just like to clarify I wasn't actually saying he should be tortured, just caught and jailed.

To be honest, I would have no problem with torture either. I'm not an evil person, but if you commit an heinous premeditated act, I think it is fair, actually. Maybe that would actually be a deterrent, because jail time and death don't seem to be enough.

But isn't torturing someone a heinous premeditated act? I get the desire to see him suffer, I have it too, but I think you'd lose an important part of yourself if you started torturing and killing people. It's a slippery slope.

Tortured if he doesn't give up information that might save others, but I don't feel torture for its own sake is right.

When you need to extract information from those with a strong belief and willing to die for their cause, and have no problem with sacrificing others then extreme measures need be applied.

They treat others with no mercey and none should be granted to them.

We have a responsibilty to get it right and only do it to those who posess the informtion.

There is absolutely no evidence that torture produces any usable evidence of any kind. Torture dehumanizes the nation committing it and allows its enemies the moral high ground.

Yup, what worries me is how much torture has been pushed and promoted by tv shows in the past 5 years or so, almost to try and legitimize it.

We got the information that ended up getting Osama Bin Laden without torture. Keep in mind the same person was waterboarded multiple times without giving up the same information that he gave up during an interrogation.
