I completely agree. It's gotten real bad on this forum. I agree that people would rather the Knicks lose with Melo just to say I told you so.

this place used to be great then the stat humpers and Knuggets fans/Lin-o-philes crawled out from under their rocks. I guess they got used to bashing the team during the bad times, and now they haven't adapted their shtick

Its really not that hard to figure out. This team is not much better than the Mcdyess and marbury teams at the core. BAll those teams shared a common thread. Ooften injured capped out former star

says the guy who wanted to start Amar'e. I guess you really can have it both ways here!

Papabear Says

Didn't realize Amare was that bad with his health. We gambled and lost. Melo can't do it by himself. I will agree that if he wanted the money he should have realized that there would not be enough to build a team around him. We should have went for Chris Paul. I believe that if the Clippers don't do well in the playoffs we might find a way to get him by putting his money of the back end.

I can't believe all the terrible fans here,

This team turns it on when they want to, that's the way.they do it,

They're just pacing themselves for the ttle run,

So glad we let that loser Lin go

Then why stay? I don't want you to leave but I just never understood it when people started threads complaining about the forum. There are so many different forums out there you could choose from. It's like a millionaire who complains about how bad his car is rather than just buying a new one.

This forum has been great for 12 years. It's the so-called fans who drive it down trying to prove Melo is a grabage player and we were a better team with Gallo etc. It's the ones who try to prove a point every time. Not the real fans. We have a lot of Nuggets fans on this board, we will put it that way. General negative talk is fine and needs to be there. But there is a major divide here with true fans and Melo-hating fans.

bonn, I like most of the people on this forum. I hang out with them in real life. why don't you leave?

Why would I leave when I just said I like it here? Your question doesn't make sense.

Neither does yours. I should only post here if the forum is positive? Is that how you deal with things? Leave?

I did not like him as a nugget. His previous reputation as a smug punk and as one who had a fight in MSG to which he looked bad did not sit well with me. Its not like I dispected his talent. I give him a chance and I think he has done a very good job as a knick espcially in stretches! He seems to have matured a bit and I like him. I don't worship him but I like him.

Spree came in with a bad reputation having lost his contract for the chocking incident. I was thought the incident was awful but agree it was a private matter and should not have lost his contract and suspended for as long as he did. I respected his talent and liked him as a knick, but not love him. The off season drama of him being late to camp seemingly every preseason was not cool with me.

Neither is my favorite knick.

Bernard King came in with a reputation of being aloof and detached from his previous two teams. In NY be was very differnet as he became INTENSE and was amazing. His knicks made a nice playoff run and had some veyr nice KNick moments as teh leader of the team. He was loved for it.

I don't know why the divide on the board but as a "somber" or "centrist" as I been called I kind of enjoy the discussions and the team but really don't get that bent out of shape. I lay back and moderate my particiapation to NOT be in every conversation. Many are redundant.

Not attacking you here at all, but I genuinely don't get the perception that Melo is loved on these boards. I was against the trade and couldn't stand the act he pulled last season, but he did turn things around and get us into the playoffs. This season he was great at the start and has kind of worsened. But attitude wise he's been okay and for the most part he's won us more games than lost. I end up coming across as being more pro Melo than I am because i think he gets unfairly criticised sometimes, and when that happens I'll defend him.

what has Melo done as a Knick to deserve love? Please elaborate

He did this stuff:
http://www.ultimateknicks.com/forum/topic.asp?t=41725

And anyone, and I've obviously asked this before, I'll ask it again, just please explain the difference in our record:

Season NBA Team W-L pct W-L pct Performance
2012-13 New York Knicks 26-14 (.650) - -
2011-12 New York Knicks 36-30 (.545) 1-4 (.200) Lost Eastern Conference 1st Rd
2010-11 New York Knicks 42-40 (.512) 0-4 (.000) Lost Eastern Conference 1st Rd

2009-10 New York Knicks 29-53 (.354) - - DNQ
2008-09 New York Knicks 32-50 (.390) - - DNQ
2007-08 New York Knicks 23-59 (.280) - - DNQ
2006-07 New York Knicks 33-49 (.402) - - DNQ
2005-06 New York Knicks 23-59 (.280) - - DNQ
2004-05 New York Knicks 33-49 (.402) - - DNQ

I just don't understand how "Melo's a Knick, we've been making the playoffs now, he's had some nice moments" automatically equates to "He's the greatest Knick since Willis or Ewing"

There was one poster here overreacting to the negativity, and now he's been banished, or left of his own accord.

It surely is strange that any positivism is met with the same underlying level of homer derision, that almost no one can balance fandom with the multiple threads explaining to everyone how other teams are better to follow, better managed, have better players, and better futures.

We have to go from league suckhole to a chip in three easy steps because:
1) all these other teams, they have futures and hopes and a dreams. And we obviously don't.
2) Lebron has a chip
3) Wade's got two!
4) I just don't like Melo. The uniform doesn't change anything.
5) I liked three years ago. Loved the process. Loved the possibilities. Three years ago. I liked... .300 basketball.
6) I don't like the present. Nothing has been accomplished. What have the Knicks done for me lately?
7) Realism = Intellectual superiority with hard cold facts backed up with my not so humble opinion
8) Homerism = Intellectual suicide with pom poms
9) I have decades of suffering. It's not fair. The '90's were so long ago!
10) New York. I've been here along time. It's what it is. We Hate alot more intensely than we love our own. It's part of the haute couture. Spike surely looks dumb, don't he?

Spring is on the way!

We love the Novak when he's hitting and preening. Wins! We hate the mother becuase he can't guard your mother when he's not hitting. Losses!
18-6 was great! Somberism abated. Can't hate ball movement and Melo diving into the stands! WTF was that about? The haters knew they couldn't bring the "he did that because he's a meaningless diva" sheehit in the midst of that. Prayers are then issued for something...a three/four game losing streak? Reverting to JWhiff's last second heroics to beat teams like ...Charlotte? A return to eyesoreMelo ball? Please God, Please! Don't leave us up there forever with Miami and San Antonio!

No identity! No cohesion! This is not what I signed on for! Geriatrics who flame out early! Crutches! Division lead is boring, repetitious and meaningless! Stephen Curry, that's where it's at! 50 points from some afterthought SG, not 40 from the 3rd century basketboor we're saddled with!

1st place in the division? STOP SAYING THAT!

And things will apparently always constantly spiral back to "the trade". If we were in last place in the division and tanking for a draft pick, I guess things would be less negative around here.

Funny how that works.

Maybe the need has arisen to start identifying franchises that are actually worse than we are from week to week.

I agree, some act as if the neighbors wife who 8-10 yrs younger than his own wife is better to give compliments too. Get a divorce, your wife gave you children and takes care of them, but you yearn for something younger that doesn't have a guarantee to handle pressure when it arises.

Go and root for the rockets and nuggets you can show those fans how much you love those teams.

Not needed here nuff said !

why can't your neighbors wife look attractive, yet you still love your wife and kids? the great thing about sports and being a fan, it is like being in an African country where you can have many wives.. one wife may be a great cook, the other a great person to converse with, yet they all serve a purpose.. but you have that main wife, the one that lives in your house.. and when she is showing you that she doesn't have your best interest at heart then maybe you need to go visit your other wives for a minute, until your main wife can get it together....

So yes, I go to the nuggets board, the rockets board, the warriors board, I watch the nets sometimes, the Hawks, doesn't mean I hate the knicks, or need a divorce..... I am a NBA fan, but over the past few years, I have realized that this team, doesn't seem to care much about me" the fan" as I do about it. So now I diversify my time, and money...It is my right to do so, and doesn't make me any less of a fan.. if anything It has made me more objective when it comes to evaluating this team..

I have gotten to the point where tkf's honesty is refreshing.

And I don't understand why "NBA fans" who are called out as "not true Knick fans" have a problem with the label? Why would that matter to anyone?

If you can conscience multiple wives, it really makes no sense when the monogamists call you a polygamist. It's simple definition of words. You can't be a polygamist AND a monogamist, right?

I respectfully challenge you to find any post where the so called haters, including and especially myself are trying to prove melo is garbage... where we or I said he was garbage.. or that maybe, he isn't the guy you make this kind of trade for and build around? If you are honest, you will just admit that some of us hated the trade because we didn't feel carmelo was that kind of player at all....and on top of that has shown a history of being a selfish player... that doesn't make him garbage, just not the right kind of guy to disrupt what walsh was doing here.. why make such a post in which you know deep down is just not true?

and BTW, I am one of those who has been here 12 years....

I guess when you post stuff like....

No Finals MVPs

You're a HATER

As of now my hands and fingers hurt but I'll continue with another 20-30 accurate observations

Can't wait until you get to:

My dog doesn't even like Melo.

My kids cry whenever Melo touches the ball.

Doesn't have a cool, behind the back pass highlight clip like Gallo does.

Has lots of old people around him.

Plays on a team owned by Dolan.

Dives into stands for a loose ball just for show.

Makes too much money.

Doesn't honestly care about Brooklyn.

Lived in Maryland.

The high socks have to go.

Stupid arm wraps look stupid.

Body armor is a pathetic psychological ploy to look tough and cover fat.

He really is fat.

Honeynut cheerios.

Reminds me of towel head Starbles.

His charity appearances are contrived and he doesn't really care deep within his soul.

The three to the head is not even his gesture.

He's truly immature as a human being.

Poor taste in clothing.

Hate the headband.

Your a man on fire this morning!

Lets look at it like:

1. We married to the knicks. They are like being married, Kirstie Ally:

Back in the day your a fan and either won a "chip" in the 70's or fell in love with the Ewing era!

Your wife was this:

You think she always going to be that! Even age gracefully!

Then thru neglect (Layden) and hiring Isiah to be her personal trainer and chef you get:

Same women.

Then you hire Donnie and put her on a diet and she looking "starphuching good!"

same women in 2012!

Looks good right? Then you get in first place! Then the playoffs! Time to see what it is!

Not bad, and you might like the larger women! Thats your wife and you love her so she is up to her potential! You make excuses, pretend she all that cuz you beat the heat and in first place!

But deep down you want to win a championship!

Thats what a chip looks looks like!

You want One? Have to make some changes yourself! Work out, make some sacrifices and make more money! Thats Jason Stratham's girlfriend by the way.
Jason is not the best looking guy but he works out, eats well and sacrifices time to work.

Knicks can do the same.

The coloring book approach to answering real tough questions. A whole new look behind the meaning of "Lumpy".
Try staying on topic, my friend. Whether monogamy or polygamy, the definitions do not take account of your intentions, wants or desires.

You don't get to change the meaning of words by working out and eating right, no matter how noble that might sound.

Marriage is one of those institutions, that at the end of the day, does not adjust it's definitions to your happiness, but rather requires that you adjust your happiness to it's requirements.

Hopefully we can get healthy and get some rhythm going before the playoffs. I consider myself a level headed Knicks fan and will not forfeit to the overwhelming negativity that is the majority here.

You can't be a polygamist AND a monogamist, right?

maybe if you would stop trying to put labels on people, you won't have to worry about understanding a thing. I am a NBA fan who is also a fan of the knicks... simple.. nothing to understand...

Anyone who sits around and waits for the lottery to better themselves, either in real life or in sports, Is a Loser............... TKF

Your a man on fire this morning!

Lets look at it like:

1. We married to the knicks. They are like being married, Kirstie Ally:

Back in the day your a fan and either won a "chip" in the 70's or fell in love with the Ewing era!

Your wife was this:

I completely agree. It's gotten real bad on this forum. I agree that people would rather the Knicks lose with Melo just to say I told you so.

See? To me you are the type of fan that makes this what it has become. Who appointed you judge and jury of real fandom? What gives you the right to call someone a fake fan? All you do is come here and whine and bitch and call people fake fans because they dont ride Melo's jock the way you do. How is this basketball related??

I dont think Melo is garbage, I thought Marbuty was. I think Melo is selfish, non team oriented and not committed to doing what is needed for the team to win. He is commited to being the entire offense so he can win the "Scoring title". I dont like Melo and I dont need people like you telling me what to root for. And I have every right to criticize him every time I post. You may have a problem with that but I don't give a flying flip about what you and your problems.

Forums exist so people can post their opinions, forums dont exist so a bunch of idiots running their mouths can force everyone else to conform to their own belief systems. But over here every thread now becomes a refenrendum on people who "hate" Melo and we have to hear insufferable pompous pricks like you telling people how to be real fans.

TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!

Ask yourself a question please. Were you posting prolifically when the Knicks were playing really well in November or December or did you return to post a lot when the Knicks struggled. If your answer is the latter I am not sure what your goal as a fan is for a team that despite their recent struggles has their best record in March in at least 13 years. (Lowey not just addressed at you).
